Overnight stop with family. We had 2 amazing rooms, next door to each other with balconies overlooking the mountains. (Rooms 2&3) Very comfortable bed too. Sitting on the roof terrace, listening to the birds with amazing views of the mountains and the church...wonderful. My mobility isn't great but we were able to park on the street really close to the entrance of the hotel. We paid for the three course evening meal and it was excellent. The owners are really friendly and look after you. You will not be disappointed if you book a stay here.

Absolutely nothing to dislike or find fault with!

Cartajema is a tiny white village amongst the chestnut trees in a valley outside of Ronda. It is down a narrow curvy road. Once you arrive you will have to drive tiny narrow streets to the hotel but the town is so small you will not hit other traffic. But squeezing into the parking area was not for the faint of heart. It is the only hotel in the town and you visit for the views. It was dead quiet and had lovely views of the surrounding valley and other villages in the distance.

Family run hotel with lots of carefully thought through details. We arrived on a cold evening in April, Sam was kind enough to show us the entire place and then he lit a fireplace which made it the whole experience soooo cosy!! We chose to eat dinner there and were surprised with the quality and taste we got on our 3 course meal! Breakfast was equally good, the child play area was fantastic and the beds were also extremely comfortable. This small village is a good alrernate/escape after spending a s Day in Ronda.

Breakfast was fantastic and the location of this hotel makes it one of the best places on the planet. Big bonas is having no TV in the bedrooms and eating a no menu dinner with the other guests.If something is not right Frank will make it ok. Paco's bar next door is a spanish jem not to be missed. First class spot.

Amazing family run hotel in the remote authentic village

Frank is a very good host, he is also a very good cook ! The village is lovely, beautiful surroundings, the hotel is clean and the rooms are a lovely size, the temperature was lovely, with afternoon sun coming into the room ( nr1) a bonus was the view of the tiny square of the village and being next to the church is great, i love the chime too, it stops at 21.00h so no sleep disturbance at all ! The mini fridge and kettle in the rooms is very pleasant. Watching the stars at night from the roof terrace was awesome too. So, we were pleased with the location, the room layout, the service from Frank, our host and owner and the evening dinner. Breakfast start at 09.00h , which was too late for us, because we had a Bird watching event booked and this starts at 09.00h, so Frank did serve us 1h earlier upon our request. The village is beautifully kept and clean, very pleasent for walking day and evenings. The scenery is stunning and the peacefullness surrounding this village is relaxing. The little bar on the square is briliant. We would recommend this hotel and the professional host Frank.

When we arrived between 15.00h and 16.00h after a long drive and a very busy work week behind us, we were ready for some rest , a cup of tea , a bit of quiet reading and a well deserved short siesta, but the screaming of various children right outside the hotel room , the noise was so loud, we had to close all the windows and patio door sadly, it sounds like the playground of a very busy kinder garden ,this went on for 3 hours! So very little tranquillity which we were asking for and no siesta possible. Strangely, when i walked the entire village instead of the siesta, i realized there was no noise anywhere , the whole village was peaceful and quiet, exept outside the hotel , so that was a shame.

The hôtel rooms are very charming and spacious. Frank, the host, provided delicious meals and was happy to answer our questions. Los Castanos is in a beautiful hiking area, and we really enjoyed our daily rambles.

Getting to the hotel is not for the faint of heart. Cartajima is reached by a winding mountain road (with stunning views of the area.) Once you arrive in town, the parking is a challenge but one gets used to it and it is worth the effort!

The hotel is in the centre of a small village in the mountains outside Ronda. From the roof there are great views. The owners were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and adequate with coffee maker and fridge. Breakfast was good. We did not eat dinner but other visitors seemed satisfied with the food.

Call and ask for the correct the SatNav advice before entering the village. We used the hotel address for our SatNav and became trapped in the warren of narrow streets. There is limited parking so it is worth checking this also.

One of the best places I've ever stayed - the village is idyllic and the hotel is totally charming. Frank's food is exceptional, the roof terrace is perfect, lots of good hikes from the door. Already planning to return!
