The staff was so friendly and helpful. The concierges, bar staff, maids and everyone we met were very helpful and friendly. We needed a doctor twice while we were there and the concierges helped facilitate connecting us with the free tele-doctor appointments. We were able to pick up the required meds, including antibiotics, in under an hour. The location overlooking the Plaza de Espana made for excellent people watching. We loved the room decor.

The hallways are a little creepy with the distant lights turned off. When you go down the hall they tigger on but with the dark walls it can feel a little erie. Maybe a very dim glowing led light band outlining the edges of the ceiling could fix it in a cool way. Otherwise the decor was overall very nice. I loved the portraits on the walls, very dramatic. Very different atmosphere in the hall than in the gorgeous bedrooms. Also, not a dislike but a suggestion to mention that the door numbers are in the door thresholds when people check in. It took us a few minutes of confused wandering to figure it out and we found other couples wandering in the same state and helped point it out for them.

This was our first time visiting Spain, and I’m beyond glad that Barceló Torre de Madrid was our first stop. They made our first hotel experience in Spain a perfect 10/10. We were selected as VIP guests of the day, which was such a lovely surprise! We received a room upgrade, complimentary breakfast, a discount at the bar, and more. The staff was absolutely amazing—so warm and welcoming. The hotel was spotless and smelled incredible (I wish I had asked what they spray!). It’s also in a fantastic location—within walking distance to the Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Plaza de España, and the Temple of Debod. There are plenty of great shops nearby and tons of food options around. Honestly, I don’t have a single complaint about this hotel—I loved everything about our stay! Thank you to all the staff at Barceló Torre de Madrid!

The hotel was very clean, with friendly staff, and the rooms were quite large with nice bathrooms. The complementary breakfast for marathon runners was also a very thoughtful touch

During the massive blackout in Spain, the hotel staff demonstrated a lack of flexibility and were unwilling to provide an extra bed, even given the extraordinary circumstances. This was particularly disappointing considering the widespread disruption caused by the blackout.

Easy to travel to using bus and metro (metro station directly outside the hotel). Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We felt valued and appreciated as customers. It was my birthday and enjoyed a free room upgrade and treats in my room. Room was spacious, clean, and had a great view of the city below. Bed was comfortable. Shower was fantastic. Pool and spa facilities were good. 24hour access to gym was brilliant. We’ve been on loads of city breaks, but particularly enjoyed our stay here thanks to this hotel and its brilliant staff. Christina (on hotel reception) gave us a map of Madrid and talked us through some must see spots which we were very grateful for.

We liked everything. If we had to suggest something it would be to extend the pool opening hours.

We were looking for a hotel that was in a central location, had interconnecting rooms for us and the kids, had a swimming pool and did a good breakfast. This hotel ticked all of these boxes. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful too. We’ll definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Madrid.

Booking through Booking.com was a nightmare. One of Booking.com’s agents messaged me shortly after booking and appeared to be trying to scam me over the free taxi offer. My complaints about his behaviour were ignored. Great hotel but I’d book direct in future.

Very nice hotel and staff. Quiet rooms. Perfect location. Turndown service. Very good breakfast. The spa could be better - no jacuzzi and only 6 beds - not enough for such a big hotel. The sauna was good. Very good system with lights - central offswitch and night light switch. Free umbrellas ro borrow. One thing I particularly disliked was that they made me pay upfront via a paylink. It's unsafe and took me a lot of effort to validate it's not a phishing attempt. Booking.com itself removes the paylink. You should let people pay via the platform that they booked through.

It’s located close to everything

We booked a king Deluxe bed and they put two twins together with a king sheets. And there was gap in the middle of the bed. Also we had a delay from their end to check in cause the rooms were not ready. They offered a free drink to their bar and they said we can have one drink whatever we want and when we went to the bar the served us whatever the wanted and it was an open bottle of champagne that the server was touching with his fingers in the tip of the bottle. Other than that the staff was super nice and helpful.

We had a large connecting family room - it was beautiful, clean and comfortable. It was on same floor as the lovely indoor pool. Breakfast was perfect with all you'd want, the lobby bar was good and the lobby check in was beautful. Kind staff and the hotel manager Sonia gave us some great tips on what to do in our next stop Valencia. You could walk to many of the best spots in Madrid and it was next to the metro stop. Great food, shopping and sites on the doorstep.

Nothing! The pool hours for kids could be longer or have an early morning session.

Fantastic location on Plaza de Espana, so very close to the centre of Madrid. Upgraded to a Premium room from Deluxe on arrival so that was a nice touch from the hotel. Royal Palace is a 5-minute walk plus Parque de la Montana, shops and restaurants. The location meant we did not need to use public transport apart from visiting the Santiago Bernabeu via Metro (15mins). It is a beautiful, clean city and felt very safe (including on the Metro system.)

Hotel was expensive for the stay but only what you would have to pay for such a central location in the heart of many capital cities. However, this is balanced out by the hotel bar and restaurant being reasonable and we found eating and drinking out in the city less expensive than many decent restaurants where we live in Surrey and certainly cheaper than central London!

Good size, clean, modern bedroom with a very large bathroom with separate shower and bath. Bed was enormous (2m wide) and very comfortable. Staff very helpful and provided good restaurant recommendations. Very extensive breakfast spread with lots of options. Good value for money as well in our view given the location, quality of accommodation and breakfast.

Restaurant is only open Friday/Saturday night, but there are plenty of good options nearby even if arriving late. It's about a 35 minute walk over to the big three art galleries, but a metro station is right outside if you don't fancy the walk. And it's a short walk to the Royal Palace.
