Beautifully designed hotel, consisting street-sided of an old andalusian mansion together with an atmospheric courtyard plus newly built extension. Thus it offers a great variety of rooms. Ours (No 234) led out into a quiet and narrow street, offering a flat balcony with typical iron grid. The room was not enormously large but perfect for a couple for 5-6 days. Very clean, sheets were changed even without need. Electricity and warm water worked well at any moment (except that famous 12 hrs blackout on Monday April 28th). But even under those circumstances the personel stayed calm and friendly and guided the newcomers to their rooms with flashlights and mobiles. One episode to praise the reception staff: during our stay my wife ran out of reading material -- the lady at the desk managed to get hold of a book (even in German) within half a day ! Thank you once again!

Although the door was shut, we could hear every noise from the hallway. This comes from the fact that (Spanish) doors have no sealing, it´s just wood on wood and you see the light coming through the gaps. Improvements on this would mean a huge benefit !

What a gem of a find, from booking this hotel to checking out, the staff were amazing. After reading some of the reviews I emailed the hotel & asked for a kettle in the room, the replied to ask at reception on check in. We had another email back asking what time we would arrive, I let them know & in that reply also asked for a quiet room. We arrived & walked on to the most beautiful reception… after filling in the forms & paying for our room, without even asking we were told that a kettle had been put in our room, first ‘tick’ for amazing customer service. The receptionist then went on to show us & mark a map of all the must see tourists spots & places that the locals like to eat & drink, she also told us of a bus stop just behind the hotel ( outside the city walks ) We took a walk across a beautiful courtyard to our room & then the lift up to floor 1 .. room 235 … our room was spotlessly clean, with a bath & shower attached… Our kettle took pride of place with 2 cups & saucers .. & an assortment of tea bags .. we did bring our own from the uk though. There was also a fridge with 2 small bottles of water … we bought some milk later that day from the shop around the corner. Our Seville adventure was amazing & this hotel was a fabulous base … everything was within walking distance… we did walk a lot lol We didn’t choose the breakfast option as I thought €16 each was a bit steep … instead I sent my husband out each morning to a little bakery 2 minutes walk away for fresh warm croissants €5 for 2 and we are those in the room with our Yorkshire Tea. There is a roof top pool with sun loungers we popped up one afternoon for an hours chill in the sun … was a great little sun trap, would be nice if there were some tables & chairs up there to enjoy a drink in the sun. I would recommend this hotel to friends & family with no hesitation & if we were ever to return to Seville I would book again.

The beds were a little hard .. but not uncomfortable, there was only one pillow each we asked for another. But other than that I cannot fault this hotel

This was our second year running staying at Hotel San Gil. We were allocated a lovely room in the old, original part of the building. The room was larger than most and was very comfortable. The view was over the inner courtyard which has orange trees and other specimen trees. The breakfast caters for everyone’s tastes - wonderful fresh fruit, pastries, cakes, cheeses, cold meats, yoghurts etc etc. The hotel is located in a quiet district that is only 25 minute walk to the main sights and 5 minutes from Hercules Plaza with a good choice of tapas bars etc. This year the hotel has introduced a new 3 course menu for half board clients and it is really nice. My wife has an allergy to onions and one evening every main course had onion, so chef cooked a dish for her that was fantastic.

There genuinely is nothing we didn’t like. Staff are friendly and very helpful. We asked for a kettle for our room and the reception staff produced a tray with kettle, cups and saucers, sugar, tea bags and spoons. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

Location , courtyard , pool and staff

The room. All standard rooms are supposed to be 23 meters squared and whilst room 235 probably met the brief , there is a wasted room near the wardrobe with an extra internal door which makes the room feel small . Normally we might have asked to changed but with all systems down on the day of arrival due to power cut we realised that would be difficult . Having unpacked everything we just lived with it . The layout and lack of storage as in no bedside tables plus the lack of charging sockets in the right location ( only one socket by side of bed ) and no accessible socket by desk for laptop was made this stay here not as comfortable as our stay last year ( also booking a room of same standard 237 - layout and sockets much more comfortable. )

Room was good with a fridge, comfy bed, air conditioning and a good shower. Breakfast was good and plenty of food....even Cava available. It was nice to sit outside for breakfast. The location was fine for walking arounf the city centre and the bus links were good. The hop on bus stopped nearby. The pool was deep and adequate for a swim after some sightseeing. Plenty of sun beds on the roof.

The room we were in was quite difficult to find, including the lift and the staff should have had someone to show us where it was especilly after an early flight. 40 degrees in the summer months. Tea and coffee could be made available like other 4 star hotels in Europe.

Lovely room, nicely decorated and with everything we needed. Very quiet at night despite being in a central location..Hotel has a lovely courtyard to enjoy and they helped look after our bags and let us use the pool even after checkout.

In the morning we could hear all the noise of the cleaners with their bin bags just outside our door as they cleared other rooms on the same floor. Given we were trying to have a lazy Sunday it was a little bit annoying. Some of the sun loungers were cracked and need replacing. Two guests fell through them in the hour we spent there.

Location excellent except for bells from church - though we found this quite rustic. All reception staff were superb , efficient and friendly with nothing seeming too much trouble. Pool area clean and tidy and perfect to cool down and sunbathe. Lovely quite courtyard to sit and enjoy a drink and work.

Restaurant and bar closed quite early , there are several alternatives nearby which open late. Sometimes would have liked to be able to have a tea/coffee in the room (also mentioned by others), especially when coming in after a late one and the cafe/bar onsite was closed.

Great hotel, really wonderful. Highly recommended.

Checking out we were presented with a restaurant bill for €88 that wasn't ours but had been charged to our room. The chap at reception summoned two colleagues where they discussed this situation for a few minutes. I pointed out the signature wasn't mine. Eventually the chap at reception said it was their mistake, I politely informed him I was 100% aware of that. Mistakes happen, how they are dealt with is important, I feel there was room for here, significant room.

An attractive traditional property in a back street, lovely tiled courtyard, helpful staff. Tasteful room with bath and plenty of hot water. Roof terrace great for relaxing in late afternoon sun after sightseeing. Location close to Hercules square for lots of bars and eating places. Also v close to open top bus stop. Breakfast was comprehensive, lots of choice and delicious cakes! Pity no fresh orange juice in Seville! Staff very accommodating. Parking was extraordinary, a staff member came with us, we drove for about a mile, ended up in a lift, up to a tiny first floor cp… impossible for a bigger car than our renault. We descended the lift which magically opened into the hotel!

The room was freezing on the first night, the heating was complicated but staff fixed it. The dining room was functional, we booked dinner but cancelled as it was stark, empty and super brightly lit. We found a great tapas bar two minutes away, turn left then right. I didnt like the streets outside, a lot of dog excrement and graffitti. Think its probably the same in any back streets here in Seville. I also left a suede jacket in my room and gave emailed about it but got no response.
