Wow! This property was such good value. They own this property and the one next door (which is connected by a small passage way!) This one is more modern, while the other is more "historical" but both are stunning and you couldn't go wrong either way. The rooms are beautiful, and the food is excellent. It's a small hotel so there are only a few guests which was great. People alternated between hanging out at the beach, by the pool, or in the shaded areas playing games and reading books. The location is so charming - it's close to the Bentota restaurants if you want to uber for dinner. But you'll probably never want to leave either since the food is so good and you have everything you need on property. Right outside the backyard of the hotel is the beach. It's a very short walk and you have to cross over these train tracks. You'll hear the train go by several times a day, but it's not too loud! I actually sat to watch the train and passengers go by often, and it made for lots of great pictures and videos. I appreciated how helpful the staff were. I could Whatsapp them no matter what I needed, for instance when they helped me arrange a massage at the spa. They also surprised me with a special dinner, birthday cake, and flowers for my birthday! I wish I had discovered this hotel earlier on my trip because I would've stayed the entire time. It was my favorite hotel of my two week long trip in Sri Lanka, and there were many other great ones! Don't hesitate, just book this! I will never stay at a larger hotel again.

A fabulous heritage style property which has well appointed rooms and very comfortable common areas. The location close to the near deserted beach was beautiful - there are a few beach bar/ restaurants within a short walk. The food was excellent- great to have a la carte breakfasts and fresh seasonal choices for dinner. The poolside daily afternoon tea and snacks were very welcome. The staff were outstanding- friendly, efficient, attentive. The gardens were an oasis - beautifully maintained. The train that passes at the bottom of the garden gate was a quirky feature which we embraced - we enjoyed it watching local life go by.

Our room was quiet, comfortable and very stylish (the whole hotel was). Breakfast and dinner were beautifully prepared and delicious, in a nice open dining room next to the pool. Everywhere - the pool, the garden and airy lounge was designed for relaxing in style. The area is geared for a quiet holiday, the town is small so not much else to do but enjoy the property and fantastic beach. It was amusing to hear the train rumble by, and to cross the track to get to the (huge, clean) beach. The staff were charming so we felt welcomed.

The entrance is down a track without much signage so we weren't sure where it was - a small thing, easily rectified.

364 / 5 000 Colonial style, beautiful well-maintained hotel, nice garden with pool, excellent service, good breakfast, plenty of choice, large room, quality mattresses. Wide and long beach, you can swim. You can get to the beach across the train tracks but without any problems.

From 5 to 7 morning your peaceful sleep is disturbed by loud religious speeches over an amplifier/megaphone. I don't know just the day we were there (Sunday) or is it repeated every day of the week

The service is spectacular and truely personalised. Kenny and the staff gave great attention to detail around preferences. It’s the small things that make this place different and better than the larger chains. Also the small property made it very homely yet all comforts were available. The food was great as well. All dishes (other than the pizza) gave us food comma Overall would definitely recommend the place. It’s a 10/10 barring the issues with the central team (mentioned below)

The management by Taru villas central team is below average - there was fair bit of confusion on Christmas dinner. Despite mentioning that we are vegetarian it was not conveyed to local staff - all prices on menus are in USD but bills are prepared in LKR. Local staff again helpless and doing what is directed. - Bill is prepared manually. No system based and itemised bill given. Had to manually check everything

This hotel is stunning! We prefer boutique hotels as they always seem more friendly. The staff were so nice! The Breakfast is so lovely, we also had dinner there too. Our room was beautiful and opened out onto the delightful garden. The beach was a very short walk through the garden, a very nice clean beach. We would highly recommend and can't wait to go back one day!

Amazing place! Beautiful Heritage style, very comfy with a 5 star service and an absolutely well trained and super friendly staff. Stunning beach in front. We also loved the railway between hotel and beach. Typical and traditional feeling! We definitely recommend this place and would really like coming back

Owners were too strict about their cancellation policy. We decided to stay 3 instead of five nights and they made no accommodation for us and we were charged the full amount.

Everything. Staff were Amazing & went out of their way to make sure you were enjoying your stay. They were all so happy & accommodating. I loved the quirky interior design throughout the villa. The vibe was chill, relaxing, happy, romantic, intimate, private, quiet, peaceful. The food was outstanding- breakfast & dinner. Cooking class was phenomenal 7* dish with a wonderful chef. It was exceptionally clean & comfortable. Few feet away from a beautiful private beach & staff bring you down an ice pop to cool you down :) we would definitely return!

If there's one thing it would be the entrance driving in to the villa & car park is a little messy with other buildings around it
