Really good value for money. The staff were so helpful in organising anything and everything we needed. Organised a tour/elephant safari which was incredible. Really nice breakfasts. Also many thanks to Prabash, our great tuktuk driver and also drove us to kandy all really reasonable prices for Tuk and taxi! Would highly reccomend this place.

As in other reviews just to be aware of the 6pm curfew for safety reasons so you’re not trampled on by wild elephants! Quite noisy monkey on the roofs during the nights but nothing we didn’t expect when staying so close to nature in sigiriya. (Recommend ear plugs)

We really enjoyed our stay at Palitha Homestay. The facilities were excellent with a lovely room, very good air conditioning and good wi-fi. While the Homestay is located a walk away from town (and it is best not to walk after dark), it is very close to Sigiriya rock and we opted to have dinner at the Homestay and had a very nice kottu. The owner was very helpful and able to arrange all of our transport needs. There is also filtered water available for guests use and the included breakfast was nice (toast and omelette one day, coconut pancakes the next day) with fruit and tea/coffee.

Only thing of note was that walls were a little thin so best to bring good ear plugs, otherwise nothing

We had an absolutely amazing time while staying here, the host and his family are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very tasty and always on time, we also got a lot of helpful tips from our host. There is great air-conditioning in the room, we had a mini fridge filled with soft drinks and beer (lovely surprise!) and there is a water filter you can use to refill your bottles free of charge. We loved the cute private patio area where you can sit in the evening and listen to the jungle 🤭 vey good location, walking distance or a short tuktuk ride to many small shops and restaurant. We would definitely stay again! Highly recommended if you wish to experience a true Sri Lankan home stay.

Everything about this place was great. The staff were very helpful with booking a safari(cheaper to book with them verses a travel site), tuktuk to Sigiriya lion rock at 5am(book the night before so you can make sunrise and PickMe will not work) and they were amazing helping me get to my next location with directions. WiFi was stable the whole time which was great. Posted a screenshot for anyone needing WiFi information. Breakfast was coconut pancakes with fruit and coffee/tea which was really good. I opted for the home cooked dinner which was really good and a large portion with a beer and I would recommend as well. I would stay there again!

Everything was great so if I had to be very picky, the towels smelled differently. Maybe I’m not used to the laundry soap in Sri Lanka yet.

Great rural setting, lots of monkeys, birdsong, maybe 100m off the main (if still pretty quiet) road. With a small junior school nearby it all had an authentic quiet villagey feel. The single storey accommodation was attractive with a nice terrace the rooms open onto, with comfy communal area seating for relaxing - also where tasty breakfast was served. Our room was spacious, basically furnished but comfortable, bathroom good, nice shower. The entrance to the Sigiriya fortress is just a 15-20 min easy hike. Our welcoming and informative hosts at Palitha Homestay had advised not to eat at the one or two small places on the lane close to the accommodation due to hygiene concerns so after visiting the rock we hiked to a nice backpacker restaurant area maybe 2kms away - we were also advised getting a tuk tuk back as it quickly gets very dark, no lighting, road hiking potentially unsafe. We stayed just one night here due to our itinerary but would have been happy to spend a little more time in the area.

The hospitality from the owners were fantastic. They were happy to organise tuk tuks for a reasonable price (I found it to be hard to find one here otherwise as drivers don’t tend to use PickMe app). They had good amenities like a free water filter and breakfast included in the price. The bed was comfortable. The location was quite good and close to Sigiriya Rock, but just a little far from the main area of the town - about a 10 minute walk.

Everything was perfect. If you can’t figure out how to use the shower, ask the owners and they will be happy to help. Only other issue was that the WiFi didn’t work, but I could still use my mobile data fine.

The hosts were so lovely, gave us fantastic recommendations for the surrounding area and set us up with a safari we'd not planned for at short notice, very much worth it! Also went the extra mile to drop us off at the next homestay up the road free of charge. Not to mention the lovely breakfast! Nice and close to Sigiriya. Would absolutely recommend it!

Nothing, we loved it all! Just worth noting that it's quite jungly between this homestay and the nearest parade of restaurants so DEFINITELY get a tuktuk at night, don't walk it or you might encounter a wild elephant and that's not what you want. Really lovely place though!

We can say that it was the best place to stay in Sri Lanka. Because they welcomed us kindly. The owner was very friendly and explained us a lot about Sigiriya. And they helped organize our trip. They offered us a taxi service at very low cost. Arrival from the airport and back to Kandy. Bhagi's mother cooks delicious food. We enjoyed their rice and curry and kottu at night. It is really tasty. A friend of mine recommended us to eat from them. Yes, it's really worth it. Much tastier than restaurants. If you are also going to Palitha, don't forget to eat dinner.

The property was exceptionally clean, which made me feel right at home. Everything was well-maintained, and the attention to detail in the rooms was impressive. Huge bathroom with heater and a comfortable bed. It’s also incredibly affordable, offering great value for the price. The breakfast was good, they gave me some coconut pancakes which was delicious enough and fruits. It was clear that the hosts put effort into ensuring guests had a pleasant start to their day. The staff was also accommodating and communicates well. If you’re looking for a clean, affordable, and welcoming place to stay with great food and outstanding service, this is the perfect choice!

Bhagi, the property manager went out of his way to ensure that my trip to Sigiriya ran smoothly. Not only did he help arrange transport to and from Sigiriya, he welcomed me on my arrival to Palitha Homestay and helped me get to and from Lion Rock and his recommended restaurant for dinner. Bhagi's hospitality is truly first class! The room itself was as described and well air-conditioned. I struggled a little with the hot water system, but got there in the end (just don't set your water pressure to max). Wi-Fi was strong and I was able to make several video calls and stream Netflix shows without issues! Bhagi mentioned there can be monkeys on the roof at night, so bring earplugs; with my earplugs in I couldn't hear much noise from outside at night. Breakfast consisted of an omelette, some toast, fruit, and tea. This is sufficient for me, but perhaps those accustomed to bigger breakfast spreads may need to consider this.
