staff were amazing, they upgraded our hotel room from the double deluxe to an apartment. the room had amazing views, along with the pool. the rooms were comfortable & spacious, with very modern bathrooms & hot water. the staff were so helpful & welcoming, when our original safari cancelled on us in udawalawe, they organised transport to udawalawe, our safari & transport to hiriketiya, which picked us up in 5 minutes. breakfast was okay, pancakes & fresh fruit were the best options, with the omelettes made on request.

we would have appreciated our room being cleaned, but on request of water & towels, they got them straight away. think you have to request for room to be cleaned.

Summary: To be honest, my initial thought when I arrived was that I’d made a mistake in booking this place. But as the stay continued I was overall very happy :) . The owners seem to be continuously working on improving the place, so it’s a bit of an odd mix of some very nice modern areas with some bits that need renovation (eg flooring). Overall the areas that matter to me (bed, AC, pool area, service) were very good and given the price point I can overlook the bits that need work. I also think this place will improve rapidly given the work going on. ————- We arrived quite late at night and the entrance is a bit odd - just a handwritten cardboard sign and a very steep driveway. Someone was outside and offered to take our bags but with no uniform or anything I wasn’t sure if they actually worked for the hotel so declined - we have been targeted by a lot of scams during our travels. Improved signage and a uniform (just a polo shirt with a logo) for staff would be helpful to provide some legitimacy when arriving. Many previous reviews mention lots of steps - they have since installed an elevator (though this is after the steep driveway you must walk up). Upon going up to the reception level you are greeted with plain concrete floors and some construction materials in the hallway (see photo) so it felt a bit run down at first. The Room: ——————- :) Very comfy four poster bed with mosquito net surrounding it. Air conditioning very good - though adjusting temperature or fan speed didn’t do anything so it was either off or on full power. Balcony with comfy chairs and INCREDIBLE views of the hills. Nice bathroom to use, good shower. :( About 5 very large concrete steps to walk down into the room, with the bathroom entrance on these steps. Rest of the flooring was wooden with some recesses between each plank - these were filled with dust/debris so a more thorough clean here would be nice, or ideally new flooring.

Incredible service. The staff were amazing. We stayed for 4 nights and they upgraded our rooms (free of charge) to ones with a balcony and a view of ella rock and the valleys below. Helped arrange tuk tuks and even got one of the staff to run us into town one evening. We had a really early start on our last morning and staff came in early to ensure transport arrived on time and even made us some sandwiches for the train as we were missing breakfast. Beautiful pool with stunning view of mountains. Clean and comfortable rooms and a new lift to take you to the upper rooms. 15 minute walk into town (uphill) but easy to get a tuk tuk for around LKR 500. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful hotel with an incredible view of the mountains. The staff were very friendly and our room was upgraded for free upon arrival which was great! Breakfast (fruit, omelette, pancakes, coffee, toast) was tasty and we loved having the pool to relax. The bed was SO comfortable with soft pillows and a duvet. Such a great location, a 2 minute drive to the centre & close to main attractions. Staff organised a scooter rental for us for a good price.

They are currently renovating the top floor of the hotel which didn’t really impact us. Builders were around but we didn’t notice any noise when we were in the hotel.

We arrived at the hotel after taking the train from Kandy to Ella, we were welcomed by the hotel manager and given the choice of two of their rooms. We opted to stay in their new room, as the room is all on one level and is on the same level as the pool. The other room that we were offered was on the top floor and had large concrete steps between the bathroom and the rest of the room. The room itself had just been finished and was very large, the bed was very comfy and the view from the balcony was incredible. The hotel itself is expanding and new rooms are being added, the building work did not disturb us though. The pool was lovely and clean and the view from the pool is stunning. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location of this hotel is about a 5 minute Tuk Tuk ride down the hill from Ella centre, you could walk up to the centre in the evening, but the road is quite dark, so we oped to get Tuk Tuks back up into the centre in the evening, the staff were always on hand to call you a Tuk Tuk and we never had to wait for long for one to arrive. This hotel is a work in progress, but you can clearly see the passion of the manager and the rest of the team to offer a great stay in Ella, one thing I did notice is that the feedback that has been provided in previous reviews has been listened to and acted upon, which is great to see. We will definitely be back to some point to see how the renovations have gone.

Room was huge, in the top floor and had a balcony with stunning mountain view. Room was clean and bed was good. Staff was friendly and helpfull. They arranged motorbike for us and did help us for anything we did ask. Pool was clean and with beautiful view. There was good sun chairs at the pool. Hotel had elevator, which was useful. Location was good, near the city center. It was less than 1 kilometer and few minutes with motorbike. Hotel was in quiet location, we had a good night sleep every night.

Exceptional location with an amazing view from our balcony, wonderful staff, willing to help at all times. Special thanks to Mr. Susantha for upgrading our room and making our Anniversary so special. You must meet Udayangai as she has a wonderful smile and special welcoming. Ask specially for Rangana if you need any assistance or advice about places. At the end if you want to feel like at home with an amazing view surrounded by wonderful people so this is the right choice in Ella. Important notice: Ignore all previous comments regarding the high stairs because they did a renovation and currently an elevator is available.

The location suited us as it was a bit out of town with stunning views. The walk up to the main centre was quite manageable if you don’t mind walking along the roadside, we found this fine and saved the cost of a Tuk Tuk. The room was big and the bed comfortable, breakfast was ok and the staff very helpful and friendly!

Our room was very tired and the kitchenette was extremely basic without any cutlery or crockery apart from jug, mugs and microwave and not worth the extra $$.

Amazing location with the view to Ella Rock. Just sit in your balcony or swim in the pool, Ella is right there with her stunning majesty. we were given upgrade from standard to deluxe room and had the penthouse room. personnel was extremely caring and polite. for breakfast just choose would you like omelet and toast or sri lanka breakfast or both😄very nice stay!

the only thing is that hotel is above the traffic route so early morning it gets noisy. but this is smth the hotel cannot help so the view still compensated everything

Loved this place from the moment I arrived. I received a warm welcome from the team. The views from the hotel were great and the swimming was nice and clean. They helped arrange transport which I ended up using the driver again- always best to go direct with the driver as the hotels take a cut.

They seemed to put more options on for breakfast the morning they had a tour group in. The walk up to town is very dark in parts, it's ok but a torch would have been handy.
