The Ocean views and calmness of the place in a busy city like Galle was perfect for escaping the heat and crowd when you needed quiet time. The space in our room and facilities exceeded our expectations. It makes you feel like you are on an island by yourself considering all the noise and craziness in the city

Service of staff could have been better. Essential information like when the hotel serves buffet dinner are not stated to you unless you ask. We did not know that the hotel had a buffet in the evenings until we asked about it. Staff here try their best with their service but many also fall short in their service with the way they speak. For a 5 star hotel, the service was at most a 4

The hotel is fantastically located, with a view of the old fort (not all rooms). Although we are two married men, we were asked if we would like to join the Valentines dinner on the lawn next to the sea. The woman manager who organized it was awesome, such an incredibly nice lady. She did it with her team and the whole diner was such a nice experience. The breakfasts and lunches were fantastic (Mr.Amila was responsible).

In our room the airco occasionally made some strange banging sounds. Several people came in to check. It didn't really change. Also the tv suddenly started in the night (very bright). We unplugged it.

The location is stunning with views of the ocean and Galle Fort. Pool and Reception staff were lovely and helpful. The Chef went out of his way to cook us a Sri Lankan vegetarian curry which was wonderful. Some areas looking a little tired and need some maintenance. One downside for us was the Restaurant. We didn’t find it comfortable eating there as the Staff are too officious in their table clearing process. You barely finish… and sometimes haven’t finished your meal … and the plate is being pulled from your table. Not relaxing at all. There are renovations going on nearby so the entrance has been moved to go through the Municipal grounds and a Park. It’s a harrowing experience with rubbish everywhere and lots of young couples “ making out” Not a good impression walking up to the 4/5 star hotel !!!

Excellent location, impressive hotel, great food at Blue Seafood restaurant, welcoming and professional staff.

I had to ask for the room to be cleaned more thoroughly after we checked in, which they mostly did. Some things in the room obviously needed replacing (rusty bin in the toilet, grubby rug in the bedroom, wonky bedside lamps). People were allowed to smoke by the pool and there were not enough sun loungers for all guests. The tuktuk drivers hanging out outside told my Uber driver that they can’t pick people up from the hotel.

Stunningly beautiful property with picturesque views of the fort. Walking distance to train station and galle fort. The staff was excellent, true Sri Lankan hospitality at its best. They made me feel so special. They provide breakfast and dinner buffet and it was a perfect introduction to Sri Lankan cuisine. So delicious. Make sure you watch your portions! Small private beach area was lovely. Pool was perfect temp. My room was something out of a magazine. Bonus for the magical toilets with heated seats.

Le Grand Galle is an extraordinary architectural masterpiece that feels like stepping into a dreamland by the ocean. The soothing sound of the waves and the tranquil silence create a serene atmosphere, immersing you in the vast beauty of the sea. While the courteous staff are always ready to assist, the natural charm of the place alone is enough to captivate you. The food and facilities are truly first-class, adding to the unforgettable experience. I absolutely adore this place and will undoubtedly return.

Nothing to mention

The location was superb and a short walk to Galle fort. The pool area was nice with views of the Fort. The pool bar was good and the staff very attentive . The staff want to please you. Sachintha kept our room spotless and entertained us with his towel sculptures!

It was low season so I don’t think we saw the hotel at its best. The only place to have an evening drink was by the pool. It is not the hotels fault but the Tuktuk drivers outside were very pushy and asking ridiculous prices compared to other locations locally.

This was an excellent hotel in a great location. The gardens and pool were very good and the room was generally great. The staff were lovely providing very good and friendly service. The lunch menu and food was really good. The evening buffet was okay but not as brilliant as the rest of the hotel. The one comment would be the bed - there was a very cheap and nasty plastic mattress protector that was really uncomfortable and caused a lot of sweat; whilst the need for mattress protectors are understood there are much, much better ones available.

This hotel was amazing in every way. One of the best hotel rooms I've ever stayed in - it's so spacious, with great views, luxe bath and a automatic toilet that cleans you! They provided a complimentary chocolate cake and bed decoration for my Birthday and the staff we're incredibly friendly and helpful. Great location, only a 5/10min tuk tuk or 15/20min walk to the Fort. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough, it was perfect!
