wonderful place with good amount of attention to details, room is clean and comfy, the restaurant serves delicious food, other tourists from other hotels attend this restaurant even for breakfast. I really enjoyed the quality and aroma of bathroom stuff

This is a lovely hotel in the centre of Galle Fort. The staff was fantastic, the breakfast is really good (there is a Sri Lankan Curry or several European brunch style, they also have Barista coffees which is a definite bonus if you like to start your day with a coffee. The rooms are tastefully decorated and comfortable.

The room we had was a good size but had a lot of furniture in it. More of an observation than a complaint. If you eat there just bear in mind that taxes and service charges (totally 25%) are added on to the menu price, it is mentioned on the menu and the food quality is good as is the service, so again more of an observation than a complaint.

Staff was welcoming, the property location is in the middle of Galle Fort, easy to explore surroundings. Washroom decor is very lovely. TV have Netflix and YouTube.

1. beddings had a bit stain also the duvet not very comfortable ( I believe it is clean beddings, did not bother to ask to change a room as we arrived late evening) 2. Bed was too soft for us, had back pain second day. 3. The room service menu booklet cover was dirty with red stain on it. 4. Soundproofing was not good, we could hear noise from restaurants and neighbors, could not sleep well.

The breakfast was great, there was a big choice of options. The food we chose was tasty and well presented. The staff were very welcoming upon arrival, which was appreciated after a long wet day of travelling. Quiet and in a fantastic locations. We were able to take a walk around the Dutch fort wall early before breakfast.

Generally great however we had dinner at the hotel in the evening, while the food and drinks were tasty we ended up not being served what we had ordered. We decided not to make a fuss and ate what we were given as it looked great and was tasty.

The staff was absolutely on it; resourceful, accommodating and professional. The room was very gorgeous (and the bathroom as well + very good shower) and comfortable. Good AC. The mocktails were very tasty and there's a good wine selection. We enjoyed our breakfast options (there's a lot of food included!). The place itself is very beautiful, we very much enjoyed our stay. Again, 10/10 for the staff - if you want to feel well treated it's definitely the place to go.

I wouldn't say it's the quietest, we could hear the dogs and conversations outside. Maybe a first floor room is better than a second one!

Right in the heart of the old fort with everything within walking distance. Great restaurant and super breakfast offering…it is also served to you which is always a bonus. We got a last minute reduced rate so value was high. At the regular rate I would not have considered the hotel in my shortlist so my review is based on the rate of $80 we paid. I think it was great value at this rate perhaps less so if $120 was the full rate. High quality linen and comfy bed. Room very clean, on the smaller size but very adequate.

The hotel is not too big which is good and has nice intimate feel with some character. Location is fantastic being in Galle Fort area. It is not worthwhile paying extraordinary prices for some similar properties in the Galle Fort area as it is all very close by and one can visit those places for a drink or meal. This hotel is good value for money. The room was quiet, spacious, very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was good. The welcome drink was nice. The courtyard area is very nice to sit. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help. They also helped arrange transport to next location. The breakfast options were decent. The hotel accommodated early check in and later check out which was very nice of them. We would recommend staying here when visiting Galle and we would stay here if visiting again.

The air conditioning in room was quite loud and we didn’t sit on balcony as noise from aircon from kitchen was also quite loud.

Location is the best for Merchant. Right on Peddler Street, you can walk around all of Fort Galle and come back to Merchant at the centre. Chamika, the hotel manager, and the staff were very thoughtful and took care of all our needs. The people at the restaurant were also happy and had great conversations during dinner or breakfast. We got to know people more than just their really enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic location! Staff were fabulous particularly Rizwan. The General Manager was also so warm and friendly when we arrived. They even organised a surprise for our anniversary. Beautiful rooms, the court yard is so lovely and the perfect place for a drink. Rooms very generous in size and beautifully appointed. Awesome find and experience, would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Old Fort Galle.

So many things to like. The location is central in the old fort, so the whole district is walkable. It’s easy to find as the streets are cross-crossing, so you just walk in the general direction and you find your hotel. The staff were immaculate and everyone so helpful and good natured. The restaurant was also top notch. Relaxed outdoor dining in a cool and relaxing courtyard. Food exceptional! The breakfasts amazing.
