This is a characterful guesthouse in a prime location inside Galle Fort. It is on a (fairly) quiet road situated just a couple of minutes walk from Flag Rock Bastion for stunning Galle sunsets. All major Fort sights and many amenities are within easy walking distance. The New Town, railway station and bus station are a short easy walk away. My room (#4) was compact but perfect for me as a solo traveller. Whilst simple it was functional and meticulously clean, with a comfortable four poster bed strung with a mosquito net (I didn’t use the net as I had no mosquitoes). The shower water is hot if needed. I had a large shared balcony with comfortable seating. There is a common area where guests can help themselves to complimentary tea, coffee and filtered water. There is also a shared fridge which guests can use. Breakfasts are an absolute highlight and are truly outstanding. They are the largest I’ve been served so far in Sri Lanka. It is served on a front balcony so you can watch Galle awaken as you savour the delectable Sri Lankan breakfast staples freshly prepared to perfection. The wonderful staff are all kind and friendly, especially the helpful and ever smiling woman who works on reception and the three delightful woman who prepare those incredible breakfasts, sort housekeeping and kindly helped me with some laundry. Thank you all for everything and for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. I cannot recommend this fabulous guesthouse highly enough. As there are only a few rooms and it is usually sold out, for good reason, I would strongly recommend booking ahead. I would 100% return.

The air conditioning never seemed that cold even when on the lowest setting (16). It didn’t ‘chill’ the room adequately.

Easy to book and communicate with. We had a clean and quiet room with 2 double beds, good A/C and mosquito nets. Very plentiful comprehensive breakfast! Appreciated access to the communal kitchen where we could make a cuppa whenever we wanted. Owner was helpful and efficient in helping us with transport.

It's a nice old heritage building in a very humid climate, and our room had a major rising damp problem in the wall. Didn't bother us, tho it was the most significant I've ever seen, but if you were worried about mould or damp it might give cause for concern. Bathroom tiles were extremely slippery, even when dry. Please be careful...I'd noticed they were slippery and my friend slipped and hit her head on the floor!

This hotel was very convenient, within the fort and close to rampart, lighthouse, clock tower and beach. A short tuk tuk ride from the station (LKR500). There are streets with restaurants, cafes and a supermarket close by (1 or 2 minutes). It was very secure, and had a communal balcony to enjoy the sea breeze. There was a communal kitchen, where you could cook, or help yourself to tea and coffee. There was a communal fridge as well, a water filter, and bottles of water were provided in the room. We did not use it, but a late checkout for a fee was available. Instead, we were able to wait on the communal balcony for our late train departure. A paid breakfast could be arranged but there are many eateries offering breakfast nearby.

All the positive reviews of this place are justified, everything was basically perfect. The location is right in the heart of the Fort but a little away from the busiest street so its quiet. The rooms are presently beautifully and everything is clean. Hot water, fan and aircon are all great. The common areas are nice and have a book exchange shelf. The breakfast is enormous and delicous, very good value. The only reason I did not have it both days is that it was just too generous! The staff are very attentive and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Only thing I would mention is the narrow staircase in to the property. For most people no problem at all, but for someone with limited mobility this might be an issue.

Excellent location, inside the fort. The room was big enough, as was the bathroom. The beds are realy high, which makes it perfect to put your luggage underneath. They were also very hard, but that's normal in Sri Lanka. There were blankets available, which we like. On the hallway, there is a shared fridge to use. Breakfast was very extensive and delicious. It is served on the balcony/ terrace.

Traffic and passengers on the street can be heared well inside the room. But I guess that can be expected, on this location in the heart of the fortress.

My husband broke his foot so sadly our time in Galle was spent in the hospital, but the host was very accommodating, and was able to get us a second night without charging as we had spent the first night in the hospital. They also provided me with breakfast when I came back in the morning to shower, grab some bits and move our bags out of the room (as it was already booked, so we moved downstairs for the second night - much better with the crutches!!) Aircon and fan meant it was a really comfortable night, and the bed was super comfy! Rooms were clean and bright. Good WiFi and plenty of sockets. Location is ideal for exploring Galle, lots of nice places around for breakfast! Would 100% recommend and we will definitely stay here when we return to Sri Lanka to do our honeymoon properly when my husband’s foot has mended! Booked based on Lonely Planet recommendation, and the inaccurate ratings on booking.com of some places we stayed at. Fantastic location inside Galle Fort; breakfast was great, and more than we could eat; good to have access to a kitchen to make a cup of tea or coffee, a fridge, and the seating on the balcony outdie the rooms was great. Good air con & fan, hot water, rooms clean, good size, friendly staff. Wasn't cheap but we thought OK for Galle, which seemed more expensive all round.

That we left a day early to stay at Negombo for a night before we flew home - should have stayed in Galle and got a shuttle directly to the airport.

The staff were super helpful, skillful and very friendly and amazing. We hung our clothes and left the place and it was raining. the staff helped us to collect the clothes and placed it outside our door. Our water heater wasn't working and the lady staff came right away at night to repair the water heater herself. The bathroom flooring was uneven and caused the water to accumulate and there was no hole for the water to flow out. The same lady staff wiped and dry off the floor and replaced the towel doormat. She was very good at her job. The other staffs were also very friendly and helpful. The location is great as everything is very close by. We even visited Unawatuna from there and it was just about 10 minutes away. It was also easy for the cabs to locate and pick us up. There was a random peacocks loitering around the area and we saw one at the balcony which we felt unexpected and nice experience.

The flooring of the bathroom could have been done better or the water flow system. If the room could be equipped with an electric kettle would be very much helpful as we need to go out to the common kitchen to get got water to make our morning coffee.

The accomodation is in an ideal location within Galle Fort, perfect for exploring the Fort on foot. It's also conveniently just a 15-minute walk from the train station, which is located just outside the Fort walls. The staff is very welcoming and kind. Guest have access to drinking water, a fridge, and the possibility to make tea and coffee independently. Very competitive price

The weak point of the room is the bathroom, which smelled damp and could have been cleaner (the shower towel was stained).

Loved how clean and cool this stay was. The aircon which had already been switched on before I walked in was so welcoming in the afternoon heat. All the rooms are on the upper floor with separate keys to the room, the common room and the main entrance ensuring maximum safety. The common room is fully stocked with spices and cutlery and is so convenient to prepare a quick meal, microwave some popcorn, or grab some ice from the fridge. Run by a very welcoming and genuine gentleman and very friendly staff. Loved my stay here. Would definitely revisit.
