We have just returned from a wonderful month in Sri Lanka, staying in 3 different locations. Our last 2 weeks were spent at Plantation House and this was the highlight of our trip. We were warmly greeted by the lovely Glenda, who owns Plantation House with her charming husband Peter and immediately felt at home in this enchanting oasis of calm. The rooms are bright and stylish, and the sparkling pool and lush grounds form a tropical paradise. Each day Peter and his staff created a different breakfast, blended fresh fruit juice combinations, followed by an amazing dish of locally sourced fruit, sometimes garnished with fresh grated coconut from the garden trees. The main course was always a different choice of both western or Sri Lankan cooked dish, but every one a delicious masterpiece. Thank you both for making our holiday so special, and sharing your lovely home. We will certainly be joining you again!

Today I leave this haven, heaven and idyll in tropical paradise, feeling so rested and relaxed. Plantation House has been so lovingly thought out, to provide all of their guests with the most tranquil place to completely wind down. Staying here has been the highlight of my trip. Glenda and Peter are such kind, talented, vibrant, welcoming hosts and the perfect partnership. I felt immediately embraced in to their stunning home and garden, with open arms and the biggest smiles. The rooms are big, bright and airy perfectly designed for relaxation, with every kind detail aimed at your comfort. After waking from a great nights sleep, I opened my door to the call of a peacock, before being serenaded by Peter with fabulous, indulgent, colourful and really tasty fusion breakfasts served on the veranda. Their Sri Lankan staff are warm, with kind smiles and despite the language barrier, a good sense of humour. The pool is a gorgeously refreshing dip, the garden bursting with colour and framed by coconut trees. Hikkaduwa main town is a flat, pleasant stroll away and a good opportunity to stretch the legs, through the heart of Sri Lankan village life. They both have such natural flair. Some of Peter's fantastic own art adorns the walls, his ambrosial food is to die for and he has great taste in music, to suit every mood. Glenda has such natural style and her warmth, humour and kindness checking in on all of us, which when flying solo, was just lovely. Peter and Glenda’s love of life and Sri Lanka, will have you hooked and definitely wanting to return. Thank you both, so much.

Sound from the next room can really travel through the interconnecting doors. Guests, whose family are in Europe for example may understandably want to call them, but because of the time difference it ends up being very late Sri Lankan time. And if they are phoning via a mobile phone on speakerphone.....I was there long enough, that there was a rotation of guests next door to me and this happened with both sets of guests. I mentioned it to Glenda on the first occasion and she was really helpful and understanding and on the second occasion, I mentioned it to the guests directly myself, who immediately kindly apologised. Maybe a polite mention to all guests, about courtesy of noise after 11pm :)

Plantation House is one of these rare guesthouses that appeal in every way: the wonderful villa with its South African porch, the beautiful garden and the refreshing turquoise pool. Plus: the wonderful breakfasts, the one-number cell phone to call a trusted tuktuk driver and much more. We especially want to mention the unique hospitality of owners Glenda & Peter. They feel as if you have known them for years. They fully deserve their 9.9 Booking Travellers Award! They send us away early today to the airport with the best packed breakfast ever. Thank you! Absolutely everything was perfect. Peter is an amazing host. Always in good mood, helpful and has a smile for everyone. We absolutely loved our stay at plantation house. The rooms are huge and very clean. Service is absolutely gorgeous and the people are lovely. The pool is very refreshing and breakfast was our favorite meal. We will definitely come back and stay there again. This is one of the best places we ever stayed and hey after 2 round the world trips this is a really great compliment. Thank you again Peter for everything.

The most fabulous haven in Sri Lanka! If this is available (which I imagine isn’t often) snap it up! What a beautiful find. Everything is perfect, the hosts Peter and Glenda, the rooms, the pool, the staff, location, vibe… A boutique hotel of 5 star quality. This is Peter and Glenda’s dream vision come true. Everything is thought through, perfectly designed, fabulously accessorised, all details are considered - the music, the art, the hospitality. The breakfasts are amazing, different everyday, fresh, healthy wonderfully presented with love. I really couldn’t recommend this dream find any more strongly. If you get the chance to book and experience plantation house you are a lucky being. Enjoy!

This was our favorite accommodation in all of Sri Lanka! Sadly, we only stayed one night, our last night in Sri Lanka. We wished we had stayed longer! Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We arrived early in the day and enjoyed using the pool and the poolside loungers while we waited for our room to be ready. Peter and Glenda are such wonderful hosts. So kind and welcoming. And this was, by far, the best included breakfast we had at any of our accommodations. Highly recommend Plantation House.

We loved our three nights here! The pool was clean and cool, bed was comfy and the hosts were really friendly and helpful! Some highlights: - Rooms had tea and coffee with a fridge and refillable water and milk- such a treat in Sri Lanka! - Air con worked well as did the fan. - Hot water in the bathroom. - breakfast was included (we didn’t have due to being up and out early every day but it looked lovely!) - security on the gate at night, really friendly! - close to town, only a couple of minutes on the moped. Really quiet location.

After having an awful stay in Unawatuna we decided to spontaneously book this place and it was the best decision ever! We were very well welcomed with a cup of tea by Glenda. The room and bathroom were amazing and super clean! We even had a private balcony which is great to spend some time. Peter’s breakfast was the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka! Overall Glenda and Peter were one of the most welcoming and warm host we met in three weeks in Sri Lanka! They have a lot of experience in hospitality!! It is a very special place and would recommend to anyone!

My husband and I had the best honeymoon ever here. We couldn't even imagine that we were so lucky with our choice of plantation house. Here are the most beautiful views from the window, the most delicious breakfasts (we have never seen egg breakfasts in such different versions), the cleanest rooms, and the most welcoming and friendly hosts Peter and Glenda! And also, the rooms are so bright, cozy and thought out in every detail! My heart is broken or just left here forever. Special thanks to the plantation house team!

Liked: felt relaxed as soon as we walked in. Peter was so welcoming & accommodating(sadly we didn’t meet Glenda). He was the perfect host. Close enough to town but far enough away to feel total peace & quiet. Breakfast was superb. Special mention to Dinusha Tuk Tuk driver who was never far away when we needed a ride. Disliked the fact that we couldn’t stay longer.
