The location was entirely false. Said it was situated in the centre of Weligama but was anywhere near it.

Staff was flexible with check-in & check-out time.

Place is so run down. Pictures on booking.com are so deceiving about the actual state of the hotel. Not worth the money at all. Looks really dodgy & not maintained at all. Staff was not trained for us to check-in & when we requested for towels they just brought them in his hand. No cleanliness. There was no electricity from morning till evening when the neighbouring places had & gave false excuses.

Well located - we’ve been coming here for over 25 years (it used to be known as the Welgama Rest House) and have previously loved the restaurant and food.

Circumstances meant that the restaurant facilities were closed - so no food or drink at all. This was not made clear enough in the hotel description. Had we known, we would have booked elsewhere.

The location, in relation to the beach, was fine, but the hotel is too close to the main road and the noise levels are intrusive, to say the least. The grounds are mature and pleasant with interesting wildlife, including a troupe of visiting monkeys. The breakfast was the highlight of the stay, served in pleasant surroundings by an attentive chap who seemed genuinely interested in providing a good start to the day.

Ekho is basically a backpacker/surf hostel dressed up as an hotel, with a poor pool and a lack of hotel amenities. If you come thinking 'hotel' you're going to be disappointed. Ok, we're in a post Covid, transition period, but the rooms are in dire need of cleaning/decorating, my bathroom was borderline acceptable, the common areas, including the pool, are just dull and why advertise as having a lively bar/bistro when it's closed? No mosquito nets in my room - unacceptable!

the rooms were not cleaned well. Many insects were on the bed and the room floor. The Air-Con did not function well. It was very warm inside.

To start with the positive first: when requested extras (towel, adapter) the staff was very attentive and immediately brought what I needed. The garden is very nicely maintained.

I would not recommend staying at Ekho Weligama. Now to the other points: The pictures do not represent the current state the rooms nor the hotel is in. It is old and very badly maintained: old and dirty furniture, moldy rooms, color going off the walls, not able to lock the doors properly, cockroach in the room and and and… The second night they “cleaned” the room next to mine until 2:30 am in such a loud manner, even after telling them to please be quiet. Furthermore, the location on Google and Apple Maps do not represent the actual location of the hotel. It is located on the very boarder of Weligama. The management knows about all these problems, however still charges a rip-off price for the rooms.
