Having read some of the older reviews had got me slightly worried but this really was a very nice place to stay and about the best value for money we had in Sri Lanka. Owners were friendly and they offered to help us with all kinds of things. We didn't book a safari with them for instance but we did use laundry service and that went really well. The downstairs rooms have a lovely little patio and of course there is that wonderful swimming pool! It gets hot in Tissa and we really appreciated it! The hotel is close to the lake and fruit bat trees and close to two great places to eat.

The room could use some TLC but it was a great place to stay if you can see through that. Where else do you pay a rate like that and get to use a swimming pool overlooking the rice paddies?

The owner and his wife were wonderful to us. We were supported with everything we needed. They arranged the safari at Yala and had a drive for us. Due to no one else booking it was a private tour. He also arranged a car for our onward journey. Ebets wife made us a wonderful home cooked Sri Lankan dinner that was sublime with fresh ingredients. It is important to say that the facilities are not what one might discribe as modern but the price reflects that. Considering everything I would highly recommend this accommodation. For sure ask for a high room and get the views of the rice fields which were being harvested during our end of August stay.

There was only one plug socket in the room so bring a splitter. Minor.

Very welcoming host who offered us coconut drink 🍹 upon our arrival😍.Accomadation was very nice and clean💯.Assistance with dinner,which was very tasty and definitely remarkable.💯🤝After returning from the morning safari🍃🐯,we were provided with a cold towel and fresh mango juice.🥤 🥭It was amaized destination😍 We happy to stay there as well as One of our fabulous night🥰💯The owner also was friendly and he was planned everything for our comfortable zone.We had our dinner there, Food was Delicious and well made💯During the time we spent there was very enjoyable.😍however,It was a best place we stay during our traveling period.

Checked in within 30 minutes of booking from booking.com and the room was ready. Post traveling, had a relaxing time in the swimming pool with some refreshing drink & snacks. The host coordinated for our Safari Ride. Host's Son runs the Safari business and gave us one of the longest Safari time possible so that we can sight a leopard but today probably was not our day. Ride included Breakfast, water, refreshment drink & fruits. Overall the stay was relaxing in this tropical paradise with air conditioning and wifi to help you stay comfortable & connected.

We booked the fan and no ac room without realising but we asked for the ac remote and was given it, although at a charge. We booked the safari through the hotel and had a fab time - 19,000 rupees each which was good value but we were sold a private safari but there ended up being 4 extra people. The location is good for a few restaurants close by and the room was comfortable!

The pool looked really murky and uninviting which was a shame as we were so looking forward to a swim!

Wonderful hotel, perfect for my travel needs in every way. Iba and his lovely wife are two of the kindest hosts I've had on this trip, friendly and accommodating and genuine. The pool is awesome after a long hot day exploring, the beds are very comfy, and the breakfast is top notch. Also, the location is just perfect, close to delicious restaurants, a shop, and even a wine store. This is THE place to stay when you're in Tissa. I will definitely be back.

Nice accommodation in a good location for Yala national park with a nice pool. Staff were friendly and helpful and we did laundry with them for a good price. We also booked the Yala safari with them which was good. Accommodation is within easy reach of the bus station.

Our rooms were fan only and the fans were not that strong so the rooms were very hot. We didn’t have hot water in our rooms but the hosts offered us to use a different bathroom instead if we wanted to use hot water. It was cash only to pay for the safari.

Good quality/price value, many shops around but in the middle of some small ricefields. The owner will help you to find the safari that you want. Staff really friendly and kind. Rooms and hostel clean, well maintained. Breakfast simple but good.

Road a but noisy in the day but nothing crazy , in another hand you're near the village without being totally in, and 2 minutes walking from any kind of shop

A genuine small family guesthouse where the owners clearly work very hard and flex to meet travellers needs. Good breakfast & fresh juices available. Met all my needs really well inc. clean room & bathroom & comfortable bed. A bonus was having a pool; they allowed me to have a swim after I'd checked out & came back from local sightseeing. Also in a good central location with a bus stop. It's set well back from the road next to a rice paddy. Tissa is more than just a base for visiting Yala as Tissa was a very important town in ancient times and the guesthouse was within easy walking distance of the Yahala Dal.. W.... temple and it's fabulous little museum (guidebooks also recommend this museum). I also loved the fruit bat area and walking beside the lake to another restaurant area.

On the booking site it said that there were lake views but there weren't. However, the setting with palms and rice paddies was attractive & relaxing.

The staff is so nice, we came to tissamaharama to do a safari in Yala, as the check out time is earlier than the comeback time of the safari, we asked if there would be a problem, they said no problem. When we arrived to the hotel, after safari, they let us take a shower and use the fantastic pool that is so refreshing! Also, the location is amazing, next to good restaurants and a beer shop! Definitely recommend!!!!

Lots of bugs outside, as everywhere in Tissa, nothing they can do about it
