We stayed at hotel Alfa for a couple of days during Eurovision week 2025. The hotel location was great! Although it was around a 20-30 minute walk from the centre, it is right next to a tram stop and a short walk from a bus stop. Anyone visiting Basel and paying city tax at a hotel gets a free travel card for the buses and trams, which also includes night buses. This was really useful to get around, and we used the buses and trams to visit attractions such as the tri-point between Germany, Switzerland and France, the zoo, and the Eurovision village and arena! Whilst there was no air con in the room, and a busy road outside (so we didn't want the windows open at night) we found the temperature to be comfortable and the traffic was not noisy with the windows closed. They was also a fan in the room but we didn't need to use it. The room was clean and had two large single beds pushed together with two separate duvets and big pillows - and these were very comfortable. We also had a small coffee machine, 2 bottles of water and a couple of chocolates in the room, which was a nice touch.

The en suite bathroom was a little on the small side, but was fine for the couple of nights we were there. As mentioned above, there was no air con so temperature control wasn't possible but during our stay in a (warm) May it was comfortable. Since we were staying during Eurovision, the price was quite high, but was a very good deal compared to other hotels!

Staff were very friendly, especially the lady on reception when I arrived in the evening. Great that there's a tram stop right outside. The breakfast was good, a nice selection to choose from. The room was nice, very comfortable bed. TV was on the small side, but it didn't matter too much. Loved having a coffee machine in my room. Burger king 4 mins down the road, which was handy. But other restaurants around locally. Quiet hotel. Even with the tram stop outside. Also loved the basel mobility ticket with my hotel stay, free travel in the trams etc for the duration of my stay

Wasn't too obvious to spot on the street, the name isn't that obvious to spot. Other than that had a great stay.

The room was small but worked for two people. The water was hot, the towels were clean. Most of the staff were helpful. The tram stops right in front of the hotel and they provide you with a Basel card that pays for your tram rides for the duration of your stay. The neighborhood was quiet.

The floor in our room was raised in places that can be a tripping hazard, especially if you get up in the night and try to get to the bathroom in the dark. They are remodeling the hotel room by room so there is some noise. Breakfast was OK. Cold cuts and bread, eggs, and juice. One member of the staff was very short with the guests, but most of the others were nice.

Nice hotel next to tram stop for access to the city. Arrived late and reception was closed, so simply rang doorbell explained who I was, reception buzzed me in and information pack with room key was waiting for me in a very prominent place just inside. Next morning I simply filled in the necessary paperwork with the receptionist who was very helpful and assured me if there was any questions or help needed I could just ask. As with all previous reviews the public transport (which is fantastic) is free for tourists and I took full advantage of it.

Pillows were a little bit on the soft side for my liking, however I'm confident that had I followed it up with reception they would have found a solution.

Clean, confortable, free parking - all as expected. The hotel is located in front of a tram stop and you get free ticket for public transport for your stay. It takes 10 min by tram to get to the city center.

Nothing in particular except that the room faces a busy road (can be solved by closin the window) and the bed linen was not ironed (wrinkled after washing). Not critical and didn’t ruin my stay.

Lovely staff at the Alfa, answered all our questions. Couldnt have been more helpful and friendly. Excellent service, i cant fault them. Good sized room. Good location with tram link right outside. Great coffee in the restuarant.

Coffee machine in the room didnt work (but staff gave us a kettle, so not so bad). The pillows . . . The hot . . Hot . . . HOT pipes in the bath room!

The staff was very welcoming and helpful, they provided us with a travel card for the public transport that was super convenient to explore the city. the hotel was in an excellent location, with tram station right outside the door. The surroundings were lovely, full of green areas and all amenities. The room was clean, comfortable, and I so enjoyed the coffee machine. We had breakfast during our stay, it was fresh and full of healthy options, which we really appreciated.

Great connection to tram. In about 15-20 minutes you are in the middle of the city or can change to all possible trams or get to the main station. Room big enough for a solo traveler, good facilities in the room, nice bed, friendly staff.

Due to it being close to the tram and my room facing the street, sometimes the noise was loud from the busy street. It wasn't often as it is not a city center but occasionally at night or early morning you could hear traffic. Prepare some earplugs to combat the noise :)

Free parking, tram stop to city center just in front of the hotel, very spacious clean family room with big balcony, good communication with staff, quick check in. Bottles of mineral water, coffee provided

If parking lot can be confirmed but it’s not a big deal during my stay because there were plenty of parking space. It would be better if a kettle in the room is provided

Great location, and it was really easy to get into the centre of Basel. Nice touches, like bottles of water refreshed everyday, and very comfortable!

A very warm room (which isn't a bad thing in itself at all, but just no way to regulate the tempreature). A bit dated in apperance, but very comfortable and good value for money.
