The hotel is located a 5mins walk from the Rhine and next to a busy road but the hotel was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Trams are nearby for transfers across the city e.g. across the bridge over the Rhine to the old town. Our room overlooked a quiet, shady garden that offered very welcome relief from the hot weather. Free tea and coffee was available at all times and could be enjoyed when relaxing in the garden. The room had good facilities: an enormous bed, good lighting and a fully equipped bathroom (but no bath). Good buffet breakfast with plenty of fruit, bread, cheese and pastries. Some cooked food too. Other facilities: Kids play room (very good for families with small children) and small gym available. Staff very welcoming and pleasant throughout our stay.

Only minor comments. The room had no air con so it did heat up during the day but temperature was acceptable at night. Limited selection of cold meats at breakfast - somewhat unusual for a central European hotel in our experience.

Hotel in a central location, convenient for moving freely around the city. The property offers a space where guests can use the coffee machine free of charge, as well as full access to the minibar in the room. The professionalism and courtesy of the staff, along with the cleanliness, were much appreciated.

Like other hotels, the room has no air conditioning, but only a fan, which is not very effective in cooling the space. The only source of ventilation is the window, but with temperatures around 30°C, it can be difficult to sleep without suffering from the heat. Therefore, in summer it is advisable to stay only for short periods.

The staff were really friendly, we were able to check in early when we initially arrived to drop our bags off, which was nice. The hotel and room was clean and spacious. The free drinks and coffee were a nice touch and the complimentary drinks in the room were good, and also replaced during our stay. The bathroom was clean and the shower pressure was good. Location was really close to transport links and getting around the city and to/from the airport was easy. The area felt safe.

The room was really warm in summer. There was a fan and the window opened quite wide but it was stuffy weather so the fan was just blowing hot air around. I imagine the insulation would be good in winter.

I stayed also in two types of rooms, both of them were nice , very clean and comfortable. The staff was very kind and helpful. There was a good selection at breakfast, delicious cheese and the staff remembered what I had requested previous day and it was given the next day. The location is great, you can quickly reach all attractions, both by public transport and on foot.

The street-facing room is a bit noisier due to the traffic but only with the window open, and sometimes noises come from the neighboring rooms, especially when the water is turned on. There could be a bit more gluten-free pastries at breakfast.

Location being just a tram stop over the river away from the city and about five stops from the SBB Banhof. Clean and nice sized room for a couple of nights in Basel. Staff were friendly. Inclusive BaselCard that provided 'free travel' to/from airport via the #50 bus and also tram/bus travel around the city during the stay was really handy.

Would have liked air conditioning as room was a bit warm and some road noise (albeit not too much) overnight with windows open - but we did book a street side room, so we got what we paid for!

We occupied a family room for three persons It was spacious and nice, with the third bed (wall collapsible bed) in a side of the main area. Mini fridge available in the room, with free sodas and water. Deco was simple, but good taste. Beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was of a good size. The room was very quiet because it is in a separate wing of the hotel, so we had to walk through a small lovely courtyard to reach it. Breakfast was offered as two options: simple breakfast for 9 Euros, and buffet for 25 Euros. If you are for a small breakfast, it is a good deal, with good quality bread, coffee, cheese and confiture. Make sure to reserve the parking space in advance, as there are not many places available, but once the car ir parked inside, there isn to need to take it out during the visit, the hotel is easily reached by public transportation.

Everything was nice, no complains here.

We only spent one night there but as we arrived early, the woman at reception upgraded us to give us a room straight away, so thank you for that. The room and staff were lovely. We had a nice stay.

The only negative point was when we went to the car park to leave at 4:45 am for our flight, our car had been blocked by another car that had been allowed to park in front of us. That made us very stressed so I want to thank the security guard for moving the car quickly and allowing us to leave on time

Staff were really friendly and helpful. There was free tea and coffee downstairs. The room was extremely clean and good shower pressure. The beds and pillows were also very comfortable. Room came with normal hotel amenities, like slippers in room etc. Location was near a tram and bus station, so very central. Booking also came with a free Basel Card which gives you free public transport

Room was extremely hot with no ability to control the room temperature. We opened a window which helped and there was no noise, but have read other reviews that said it was too noisy for them

The staff at the Wettstein Hotel is the best that happened to me in Switzerland. Not only they're extra supportive but the kitchen staff is fun and helpful, understanding towards chocolate monsters and super caring. The breakfast was amazing (except for crumbled eggs). They even get melted Swiss chocolate instead of Nutella. The garden is pleasant and the pace is just right for rest. It was rather quiet all over the hotel. I got a room with a bathtub (my thing), and a comfy bed with a little bigger duvet than usual hotel duvets. and the location was good - right by the tram/bus stops and a walk away from the main station. The minibar was free and refilled every day, the cleaning lady was kind and even spoke my mother tongue. There were always amazing free coffee and tea and some cold drinks available by the reception. I had my best decaf coffee ever there at midnight! You'll also get a city pass with free public transportation around Basel and a 50% museum discount. What's worth mentioning, the pillows were comfy too, not too thick like in other hotels, and you had an option of changing the type of pillow. The pillows for guests with allergies are there by default. And the light in the bathroom was pleasant, not acute like in in other hotels.

The room by the street was extra hot and did not have air-con. The ventilation was not good enough and I'd wake up suffocating. There was a fan, but it was loud. The street was busy and loud due to the cars and renovation of the opposite building, so no possibility of getting fresh air.

When my 3y.o son got sick and we needed medicine, the staff was extremely helpful. They gave us directions to the nearest place and we're extremely kind. I can't emphasize enough how kind and family friendly the hotel and staff were. There is a kids playroom off the main lobby that was perfect for a rainy day. There is nothing I didn't like about this stay.

Literally, the only "bad" thing was that the elevator was too small for my whole family but that's pretty typical for Europe.
