Situation from main town requires one to either pay local taxis or rent a scooter to access other options than are not on the small Wong Dueang beach. Only a few of the staff could speak English very well. Majority of guests either Chinese or Russian.

The approach to the property needs improvement. Vehicles cannot enter the property so lugging a suitcase of appx 12 kgs from the entrance to the reception was a major task as there is a steep incline at a point with poor road condition. This issue needs to be resolved. The walk from the entrance to the reception area needs to be also kept clean and maintained better.

It looks like the Ceptic system on the island is rather primitive; all hotels drain their pipes directly into the ocean. Also they burn plastic ; no recycling . But it doesn’t happen every day; so the air is mostly clean

It’s a bit off the beaten path.

It was such a relaxed atmosphere to sit in front of the restaurant at the seaside under a huge old tree that gave shadow and having a super fresh sea food meal from the very good kitchen there. The prices a bit higher than around but big portions and all fresh and tasty.

We had room B8 in the main building at the end of the second floor with a nice sea view. Lucky we had only one room neighbour, because the walls seem to be of paper. We could hear nearly everything of them especially the bathroom door banging, obviously it needed some power to close it. Better book a bungalow if you are sensitive to this. Unfortunately the breakfast was not on the same high level as the restaurant food, cheap toast bread and low quality jam spoiled the overall good impression a bit.

We enjoyed our small bungalow room with a balcony looking out over the sea. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The resort's position on a small, rocky peninsula gave it amazing views from the rooms, the restaurant and pool area. The newly renovated pool is small, but it is in a beautiful setting and has a pool bar with plenty of seating. Unfortunately it was quite crowded with young families when we were there. The staff was always friendly and helpful. A very nice, clean beach with crystal clear water was just a few steps away.

We just returned from an absolutely magical 4-night stay at Vimarn Samed Resort, and it was the perfect beachside retreat we needed! Nestled on a serene peninsula between two stunning beaches (Ao Prao and Ao Wong Duan, just a 1-minute stroll away), this hidden gem offers a peaceful escape from the busier spots on Koh Samet, while still being close enough to explore the island’s vibrant vibe. From the moment we arrived (after a quick speedboat from Ban Phe pier—pro tip: book transfers through the resort for seamless service), the staff greeted us with warm smiles and cold welcome drinks. The check-in was a breeze, and they even upgraded us to a sea-view room at no extra cost because it was available. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with air-conditioning that actually cooled the space, a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary water, and a private balcony where we watched sunsets over the turquoise waters every evening. The tropical decor felt authentic and inviting, like stepping into a private Thai villa. The resort’s infinity pool overlooking the ocean was a highlight—crystal clear and rarely crowded, perfect for lazy laps or just floating with a book. We spent hours snorkeling right off the rocky shore in front of the property (bring your own gear, as rentals are limited), spotting colorful fish in the shallow bays. Beach access is super easy, and we alternated between the calmer Ao Prao for sunbathing and the livelier Ao Wong Duan for evening drinks at nearby bars. Meals were a delight, especially the included breakfast buffet on the open-air terrace: fresh tropical fruits, fluffy omelets made to order, crispy Thai pancakes, and strong coffee with ocean views. Dinner at the on-site restaurant was equally impressive—try the grilled seafood platter; it’s sourced fresh daily and bursting with flavor. This is undoubtedly the nicest resort in the Wong Duean beach area, out on a peninsula so a little removed from the evening noise of the beach. We stayed here 13 years ago and were impressed with the improvements made in the intervening years, particularly the pool and surrounding area. We had a deluxe seafront room, which was beautiful. The little cabin style rooms are also lovely, but we appreciated the light and the amazing view from ours. The hotel restaurant is excellent, and no more expensive than any along the beach. However, it definitely feels 'nicer' than some of the beach ones, and if you need a break from the relentless loud music and fire-dancer shows on the beach, it's lovely to eat here. We enjoyed the breakfasts, although after a week there, they did feel a bit 'samey'! But it was good coffee, and the Asian dishes were generally very nice. The staff were unobtrusive but nice. The poolside bar was excellent, and served a wide choice of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The fruit smoothies were very nice, as was the iced coffee. The cocktails weren't very strong though!

For a nature reserve, Koh Samet is surprisingly dirty. Whilst the Vimarn Samed itself is spotlessly clean, you only have to take a few steps out onto the peninsula rocks to find piles of litter, particularly plastic bottles. I cleared some up, but found it surprising that the resort staff didn't make more of an effort to do so as well.

The sense of privacy. We were at the end of the beach, no people passing in front of our bungalow. Amazing restaurant, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stir fried curry crub is a must! One of the best I ever had. Beautiful afternoon by the pool with drinks at the bar. Best sunset of the island I guess. Overall good experience!

A couple of days before checkin I received a link on booking.com from the hotel saying that I should pay for the property again even if I already paid on booking, saying: “please not that time is limited”. A friend that was there with me received the same message, even if he booked from another platform. He asked them and they said their account on that platform was hacked. So I suppose their account on booking is hacked too. However, if you know all your accounts are hacked you advise guests beforehand not clicking on the link, not after they receive it and ask you if it is a genuine link. I imagine the amount of guests that clicked on that link and payed twice for their stay……….SO BE CAREFUL

The location is exquisite and the resort is quiet and away from loud parties or scooters.

While it's not the resorts fault, there is a lot of plastic waste on the beautiful beach at Ao Wong Duen. The resort was clean, but the plastic just washes up... but still waaaay cleaner than some other popular resorts in Thailand. Staff and surrounding vendors were really friendly it was so relaxing.
