This , we knew, was not a new hotel but the room we had(king) was nicely renovated and being an older hotel had the benefit of being very spacious(1421) . The entrance foyer and breakfast room were enormous with excellent cooling. Buffet breakfast was to a good standard with a lot of variety to suit most visitors. The pool was large with sun beds always available. Above all the staff, from the bell captain, to reception, breakfast staff right up to the general manager were excellent going out of their way to help guests.

It is true that the hotel is by the river and a little out of the main town centre but this is easily overcome by a 100baht grab ride.

Our friends live in the apartment block next to this hotel and said there family and friends always stay here and always very happy so we decided to give it a go. Happy we did it’s such a beautiful hotel on the river, the rooms homely and a warm atmosphere, everything you could want in a Hotel, from the moment you walk in the staff are super friendly and nothing is to much trouble. The beds are not typical of some thai hotel beds they are super comfortable The best breakfast selection is first class, my wife is Thai and they cover a wonderful selection for all people, overall super happy and will come back to this Hotel, I try and be and honest reviewer, this is a Hotel we will come back to.

Nothing at all

This is a fantastic hotel with great facilities. The space throughout the hotel is particularly impressive. Even though it has probably never been upgraded since it was built it is well maintained. The gym is fantastic as is the sauna facility. The pool is very nice with great rooftop terrace. Food was very good and great quality and selection. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

There could be a little more maintenance of the gym and spa area. The door to the male sauna had a gap which could do with being repaired. Though it didn't affect my enjoyment of the facilities.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great facilities.

Only downside is the location if you are new to Chiang Mai. It is too far to walk to night bazaar etc, and there are few restaurants around the hotel. Just street stalls and a 7/11. We found you could get a tuk tuk on the road by the hotel which will take you to the night bazaar and loads of restaurants for circa 150 baths. But, there are not many tuk tuks there. Coming back isn't an issue. There are loads of tuk tuks at the night bazaar.

Highly recommend staying at the Centara. The staff were exceptional- they provided high quality, old fashioned style service that you really don’t get many places anymore. They really made us feel special and made the stay so easy - especially helping us connect with our pre-booked taxi driver. The pool was fabulous, as was the breakfast. We would stay again with no hesitation.

Our room was on the 13th floor, which mean during peak times there was sometimes a bit of a wait for the elevator, but that’s nothing that can be helped, just something to be aware of if you have a deadline

Incredible service by all working at the property. A special thanks to Khun Milk managing the restaurant. Her attentiveness and tips of what to see & do in Chiang Mai was beyond excellent. I also appreciate the reception team for enrolling me in the Centara Loyalty program. Full marks to the property and team. Note: I also saw the General Manager bussing tables in the restaurant during the morning breakfast rush. Great leadership.

All foods at breakfast are very well provided and delicious. Would be nice to have more of other kind of fruits because Thailand have a lots of fruits that people love. And maybe some of gluten free bread (bakery options) for guest who can’t eat wheat bread. Everything else was wonderful including all staff are super friendly.

I did not like how I can’t use any plug inside the hotel room for my charger when I need to change my battery at night. It’s seem that all plug are connected to the power switch when we turn off the power to go to sleep at night.

the staff are excellent, really professional and friendly vibe. the service was fantastic.

the noise from other rooms, I knew when people were using the toilet, banging doors etc. you could hear it . and one of the lifts was out of action. and it’s a busy place, you noticed. and due to people having lack of common sense, they were overloading the lift, halting in a Mexican stand off till some one got out, not what you need after a long hot excursion.

The breakfast buffet is excellent and was myb favourite part of my stay here at Centara Riverside.

The Lighting and buttons to control them are a little old and at times the lights would turn on spontaneously when I was trying to sleep.

Breakfast is very good, variety of choices and good quality. Room size is big and you can feel relax in the room because of its size. Location is very nice, next to the river.

Shower and hot water is not hot enough. Furniture is a little bit run down but still in a good condition.
