It was nowhere claimed that you cannot get down to the beach by scooter. We got into the resort’s car because it was heading back from shopping. When we checked in the owner made us pay the taxi price for taking us on a car which had to go down anyways.. it is not the money, but could have been a welcoming gesture. In the restaurant they charge double prices for everything I guess because of the remote location. The owner or manager wasn’t kind at all, money centered as we felt.

What you can't find out before booking is the fact that you can only get to bottle beach by taxi boat, which should be 150 baht but can be up to 1000 baht if you want to get the last boat at 5pm. They know you need to get back so they charge whatever they want. Makes me feel helpless and angry. They need to make their living but, man... You can hire a 4x4 truck up until 10pm,so not for party people but you need to have a rent scooter waiting for you on the main road. I wish this was more clear in the ad for the place. I left soooo much money there for transport and somehow 200 euros disappeared from my purse. Should have locked the hut but didn't expect that at all. And I don't believe it was Thai people!

Bottle beach is beautiful, the entire area has about 4 lodges and pretty much all the same, it seems like a tight community so no competition. Smiles bungalow property was very clean, cozy and quiet. Food is good with avg price. Things to keep in mind: -Muslim house so no alcohol sold on property. -manager is not “western friendly” but we found him to be kind and respectful. -price of items like coffee or taxi out or in will change from day to night with out notice. Example: cappuccino 80baht Tuesday, next day 90baht. Taxi coming in 300baht taxi coming out 400baht… -The road is accessible ONLY for people that have experience with dirt road and scooters. We went up and down 2 people all days we stayed, paid no taxi and saved at least 3000baht in a week. DO NOT try to go down or up when it’s raining. On dry sunny days it’s easy to go up and down with a 125cc scooter. -if you decide to park your scooter up, the walk to the beach is 25 mins. One great advise; Don’t arrive complaining upon check in. Be prepared to practice patience. Go swim at the beach while you wait for your late check in.

Omg watch out for the way there — there’s only a very rough dangerous path to go down and with a scooter is impossible! They have their own taxis. I went down walking for about 30 min, and on the way up a taxi picked me up for free (although I think it was just my luck, usually people pay money). Otherwise the bungalow was lovely, I had a terrace with an open view of the beach and surrounded by trees and had a calm time reading in the hammock and enjoying the silence!

Cockroaches 😣 there was one near my bed and more in the bathroom

Bottle Beach is a beautiful little hide-out and I really enjoyed our stay in the Smile Bungalows. They offer a great taxi service (we were picked up from the ferry at 5:30am for the regular 300 Baht) and the people are superfriendly. Our 2 bungalows were cute, clean, comfortable and what I had hoped for. The food is good and very helpful. Important to know: you can only get to bottle beach hiking, by boat or by the 4wheel-taxi for 300 Baht. That is WHY it is so beautiful, it's pretty empty in the morning and evening, just during the day there will be day-guests at the beach.

I'm not sure why people left bad reviews for this place. I loved my stay here. There is not much to "do" in the area but you have to know this coming to Bottle Beach. This is a place to enjoy beautiful nature, go on a hike to the viewpoint, read a book, swim, chill. It's not a party place at all. It's a beautiful place to relax and enjoy. Smile offered me a nice hut, classic SE Asian style. Simple, but had a fan and a mosquito net and that's all I really need. The bed was comfortable. It was small but all I needed as a solo traveler. The people working here are honest, hard working people. The food at the restaurant was really good! I recommend their green curry and the coconut shake. I would definitely come back here again and again. A little slice of paradise.

Dealing with bugs but the hotel can't do much about that.

Honestly the most beautiful and peaceful location for a couple of nights. We stayed three nights and would stay longer. It was very basic accommodation (a bungalow with low light levels and holes in bathroom walls) but perfectly fine if this does not bother you. Amazing location for beach days or a hike up to the viewpoint. Restaurant food was amazing! And lots of vegan options - ask for the currys or rice with tofu and without egg.

It was difficult and expensive to reach property (spent more getting there and away than the cost of accommodation! about 900 baht for two, one-way). Recommend staying there for the sake of the beach and not making it a base to see the broader island. As you are trapped there, expect to buy all your meals and bottled water at slightly higher rate - although not ridiculous at all. we arrived at 3pm (2pm check in time) and he told us to wait and hour, did not offer any refreshments so we had to just buy some drinks and wait which was communicated rudely. But he could also be pleasant at other times

Stunning beach and hotel! Food is good and clean room! Just you have to pay 100 bath ( for person ) one way to get down to the beach with the taxi 4x4 or walk 2 km as the road can be dangerous with normal car or moto. Anyway is fun the ride and we had an amazing experience ! Is the best beach and you will be literally in the jungle! We will come back!

This place was absolutely amazing we have been in Thailand for three weeks now and smile bungalows is a must bottle beach is probably one of our favourite beaches if not our favourite and we have been to Maya bay so that says something the staff are helpful in every way ask them and they go above and beyond to help you we will definitely be coming back

Everything was amazing the only flaw is the wifi which could be upgraded but who needs WiFi when your in a beautiful place

It’s very basic and out of the way but bottle beach has a great vibe. They collect you from town which is good value and the food it good. The staff always have a smile. Funny that. The grounds are lush with nature and each hut has a hammock. It’s quiet and very cool. We loved our stay.
