The warm welcome, birthday surprise with cake, room upgrade, rooftop sunset, and fresh juices from ETO — an exceptional host. Akay Hotel was a last-minute booking that became one of our trip's most heartwarming and memorable stays. We had originally planned to stay elsewhere, but fate had better plans — and I'm so thankful it led us here. From the moment we arrived, Rhea checked us right in, and ETO, the owner, as well as his lovely family and helpful staff, welcomed us with genuine kindness and care. Despite our impromptu arrival, he made us feel truly special, even surprising me with a birthday cake with candles and upgrading our room without hesitation. That evening, we chose to dine at the hotel for convenience. While the meal was simple and slightly on the higher side, the peaceful atmosphere and attentive service made it feel completely worthwhile. As a lovely final touch, ETO treated us to freshly squeezed pomegranate and orange juice the next morning, right before we watched the sunset from the rooftop. For a place we hadn't planned on, Akay Hotel gave us more than we could have imagined — a sincere reminder of the beauty of Turkish hospitality. Honestly, nothing comes to mind. The entire experience exceeded expectations, especially for a last-minute booking. That evening, we chose to dine at the hotel for convenience. While the meal was simple and slightly on the higher side, the setting was peaceful, and the service warm. Considering the genuine care and personalised attention we received throughout our stay, it felt like a fair trade for comfort and ease.

The hotel staff were lovely people. Warm, welcoming and they provided helpful info about Ephesus as well as loaning us books about Ephesus. The property was cozy and the breakfast on the top floor terrace was very nice. WiFi was excellent.

We visited during a heat wave (105 degrees Fahrenheit) and the AC in one of our rooms struggled to keep the room cool. The staff came and cleaned the filter but it made little if any difference. The other room AC worked much better. I don't think this would normally be an issue but just reporting our experience.

We had a stop over as a family here. We basically chose this location because it was cheaper than most other places from İZMİR to Selçuk and we could fit in one room as a family of 5 and breakfast was included. The beds were fine, the space was conducive for 5 teenager/adults to sleep. The heat worked enough to keep it from being TOO cold and the breakfast was satisfactory. Also the check in staff and the breakfast staff were all polite. Al’s out Duvets were comfortable and has an insert so they must have listed to previous guest reviews which I appreciate. Also the pool courtyard is nice even though it’s too cold to swim.

The bathroom could have use a better cleaning to be honest. The Wi-Fi was weak.

We were a family of 5 and booked the family room for 2 nights. First, the location was nice, near the bus station, 10-15 mins walk, a little uphill, so it’s better if you drive your own car or call a taxi. The were restaurants in 2 mins walk. Staff & owner are super friendly, I really appreciate that they replied WhatsApp in minutes. Even their English were limited, you could tell they were very helpful. After checking in, we noticed that there was water dropping from the AC in our first room in the midnight, the owner immediately came to the room and offered us different rooms (a double + triple rooms) near poolside, which had a better view. :) We also used their laundry services - they offer both cleaning and drying, it costed 1000 Lira for 2 huge bags of dirty clothes (500 Lira for each), receptionist took the clean clothes to our room directly:) Breakfast was simple but really nice, I personally loved the bread with sesame seeds and the tomato with egg. The breakfast time was from 8-10 am, we woke up pretty late around 9:30 everyday and had to rush for breakfast buffet, and the lady who made the breakfast was so kind that she cut fresh tomatoes and lettuce, mixed new cheese with spicy sauce, and cooked fresh tomatoes with eggs for us. The view from the terrace(where we had breakfast) was beautiful too! In addition, we accidentally broke the keychain of room keys but they didn’t charge us for the damage. Moreover, after knowing we didn’t have a car and had to carry the luggages downhill, although they were not able to provide transportation services to the Selcuk bus station (only 10-15 mins walk), the staff was very kind and taught us a more direct route to the bus station using the little map. Overall, 10/10 for the service and the scene. Check the photos here and you will know how beautiful it is!:)

Bear in mind that the room facilities still need some improvement, the toilet seat cover was little shaky, and there was no kettle/fridge in the room, but you could ask for hot water from the reception. WiFi was good in the daytime, but became pretty unstable in the nighttime. And it would be better if they have thick duvet instead of thin blankets.

Good location being so close to city centre-bus and train stations. Ephesus is only 3km away so convenient to grab a taxi, also close to other historic attractions. Good breakfast at roof top, pool area was a real bonus. Manager was very friendly and helpful, he kindly dropped us off at train station.

Shower space is small with noisy extractor fan. Air conditioning didn’t work properly.

Stay here for a night only, but I can tell the place is clean and peaceful. The staff are nice, friendly and approachable. Thank you for giving us extra time during check out instead of checking out early as we arrived in the hotel at 3am. Appreciate it. Location itself is nearby to The Ruins of Ephesus, which is great as we’re planning to visit.

Location was great just behind the mosque and below the Basilica, walking distance to Ephesus Breakfast was good with plenty of tea and coffee and traditional Turkish breakfast Staff were very helpful. There was a pool and bar but too cold to sit outside or swim in April Lots of good restaurants around Safe area

The weather

Excellent customer service. The best so far in Turkey. Beautiful view from the breakfast patio. Breakfast was varied and delicious. 6 min drive to Ephesus. Even closer to St John’s basilica. Walking distance from the local metro station which is connected to Izmir airport. Rooms are simple and clean. Air conditioners work great.

Near everything, gorgeous facilities, nice and quiet, wonderful family owned business, let us store our bags and when we came to pick them up gave us a ride to the bus station, pool was wonderful, upgraded our room for no cost, place to fill up our water bottles, great restaurants and bars close by, ac was so good

Hotel is located in the center of Selcuk just by the Isa Bey Mosque, easy to walk around and discover the ancient settlements. Rooms are clean and tidy. Beds are comfortable. Stuff is helpful and kind. Rooftop is so peaceful with a very nice view. Best place in the town for a getaway. Thank you for everything. Highly recommended!
