NİLYA HOTEL offers a peaceful, beautiful green courtyard — a truly lovely place to enjoy the generous and delicious breakfast prepared by the hotel. It was such a wonderful way to start the day! The host, Erdal, was warm, thoughtful, and incredibly helpful. He gave us detailed recommendations about the local sights and even lent us a book about Ephesus, which greatly enriched our visit to the ancient site. He took care of us in every way, making us feel both reassured and deeply touched. The location is also excellent — within easy walking distance to attractions like the Ephesus Museum, Selçuk İsabey Mosque, and the Basilica of St. John. There are a small supermarket nearby, and if you’re feeling hungry after 9 p.m., there’s a nearby street with several restaurants that stay open late, which is very convenient for guests returning later.

Beautifully located in a quiet green courtyard, Nilya - which is more a family residence than a hotel - has traditionally adorned rooms, with impeccable bathrooms and AC. In plus, not having TV sets in the guests' cool (in every sense of the word) rooms, one can enjoy, after a busy hot day out, complete relaxation and a perfect night rest. The breakfast, served in the garden, was delicious, with fresh fruit and vegetables every day - and the portions were huge. The owner, who speaks English fluently, was extremely nice and helpful, even taking us to Ephesus in his own car - and for free! Thanks again for everything and good luck!
It was all perfect.

The proprietor, Nazmi, and his staff made us very welcome in their comfortable rooms decorated beautifully in an Ottoman style. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Wifi good throughout the hotel. Located a short walk from St John's basilica (stunning views of Selcuck and the area), Temple of Artemis (what's left of it), and Ephesus museum (definitely worth a visit). A central spot, but quiet location with pleasant court yard to sit in after a long day sight-seeing with a cup of Turkish tea. Nazmi gave us great advice on how to get the best from a visit to Ephesus and other sites to see. Bonus seeing the storks flying overhead to get twigs for their nests, located near the Basillica. Highly recommend as the place to stay if visiting Ephesus but also to experience a bit more around the area and Turkish culture.

The location was wonderful - very close to St. John's Basilica, to the Ephesus Museum, to cafes and restaurants, etc., and it's in a very quiet area with cobblestone streets and little traffic. The courtyard, shaded by a huge mulberry tree, is quite beautiful. The included breakfast was over the top, with eggs cooked to order, lots of fruits, delicious olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, breads, jams, etc. Tea and coffee were offered, and our cups were refilled. Best of all, free transportation was offered to and from Ephesus, and we were also able to borrow a guidebook. We received very helpful personal service here. The courtyard cats are cute too.
Because I have to say something in this space, I will mention that our particular room was located in kind of a dark corner. We had one window opening onto the courtyard. Other rooms, on the upper floor for example, might get more light, so this might be something to ask about when booking the room. The room was quite nice though, with beautiful lamps and art works. Fresh towels were formed into elephant or swan shapes, and the shower was a really good one!

Superb location in the charming 'old quarter' of the town, just below the ruins of St John's Basilica. The entrance opens onto a charming courtyard, which would I am sure make for wonderful al fresco dining in the summer months (but not in April). Very comfortable room, and super quiet off from the street. Breakfast is delicious and served in the communal area. Your host is very welcoming and offers a great deal of advice for travellers aiming to visit Ephesus and the surrounding area.

The Hotel is conveniently located in a lane near the Basilica of St John. It is easy to find using Waze or Google Maps. The building has been very well constructed by joining three old buildings together in a harmonious way. The rooms are around a walled Courtyard on two levels and are delightfully decorated with antique furniture and tiles from the shop owned by the two owners of the Hotel. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful with lots of fresh fruit and eggs if you so wished. A bonus was the offer of a free shuttle to and from Ephasus. The two owners were very friendly and extremely helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel for someone who does not want to stay in a modern one.

The hotel is lovely, situated just 3 blocks from St John's Basilica and near downtown & the inter city bus station. Our room was really pretty, the beds were comfortable & it overlooked the valley. The breakfast was excellent, eaten in the lovely courtyard. The hosts were such lovely people! They drove us to Ephesus & picked us up 3 hrs later.
Only one minor thing. There was no kettle or coffee cups. It would have been lovely to have an early morning coffee- we wake about 6 am, but breakfast starts at 8- or evening tea while sitting on the balcony. That said, I'd definitely stay here again!

Stayed 5 nights. Quiet part of old town and good sleep quality. Very good breakfast in a shady enclosed courtyard. Breakfast starts at 7.30am so convenient for an early start. Rooms slightly small but tastefully decorated and comfortable. Very clean. Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Easy walk to museum, castle and restaurants.
On street parking a little cramped like any Turkish old town. Top tip is to use the large free car park 5 mins walk away at bottom of hill.

The location, decor, breakfast and hospitality of the staff was 5 star. It was very clean and the courtyard garden was perfect for breakfast under the Mulberry tree. I especially liked the traditional style of the room. It was apparent that a lot of thought had gone into the aesthetic with the wooden furniture, rugs, tiles, framed paintings and folk art pieces, unique to the region.
The bed was a little bit firm for me but that may suit some guests. I still slept fine though.

Nilya is a charming hotel decorated in classic Turkish style with a lovely, peaceful courtyard where breakfast is served. The room was comfortable, spotless and seriously, who doesn't love a different towel animal each day? The owners, Nazmi and Erdal, are excellent hosts and very engaging and made sure I had everything I needed including driving me to and from the Ephesus site. James, on the desk at night, was kind enough to prepare a really nice fruit plate upon my later-than-expected evening arrival. The location was very good. Ephesus is 5-10 mins away by car, St. John's Basilica and the Old Fort are about a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Plenty of shopping and restaurants very close by. Cute area of cobblestone streets and an endless selection of outdoor eating options. It's very convenient to simply stroll a few minutes down the hill and have whatever you need right there. At first glance the neighborhood looks a little worn out but you'll soon realize that all the charm hides behind the welcoming gates of the various hotels there. These are narrow cobblestone streets with splashes of bougainvillea growing over stone walls. Don't expect to see big signs and flashy entrances. It's unique in its simplicity and the mystery of what lies behind those walls... One of the highlights is the delicious breakfast. It is not a buffet but don't worry, you get a plateful with a great assortment of fresh fruit, breads, cheese, a cookie, various jams, olives, honey, Nutella and best of all, wonderfully prepared eggs. Mine were scrambled with cheese and various spices. Probably my favorite eggs ever! If you're interested in the true art of Turkish rug weaving from a tribal perspective, ask to see their gallery of beautiful rugs, tiles and smaller works of art that's just around the corner from the hotel. You will learn a lot about the making of fine Turkish rugs by the different tribes without getting pestered to buy something!
