Friendly, attentive staff. Nice, clean room. Room was warm and we were able to adjust temperature on main room radiator as needed. Tea and coffee making facilities. Small TV if you want it, seemed to work fine. Lovely shower and toiletries. Great breakfast included and available until 10am so nice if you want a lie in! Also useful to have the pub available for food and drinks during the day if needed.

- Heated towel rail didn’t come on in bathroom. Unable to turn on. - Not enough milk sachets for more than 2 cups of tea (only 4 in the room and a small amount in each). - Tea/coffee cups are very small. - Right hand side of double bed very uncomfortable. Ideally needs a new mattress. - Walls very thin so woken a couple of times by a crying baby in the next room.

Perfect for a one-night stopover, this is an inn with a welcoming attitude. All the staff made us feel we were valued guests. We enjoyed an early evening supper in the busy pub restaurant. The menu was original and not overpriced; we were served by friendly staff, and there was a happy buzz about the place. Breakfast next morning was all served to our table, with a wide choice on the menu and other options available - just ask! The restaurant and bar area was really warm but our room was cold. When I reported the cold radiator to a member of staff they explained this was because the thermostat was in the bar area, and they fixed it immediately so the radiator was soon hot and our room warm.

Set in the heart of quaint village a stones throw from Alton. Just a night me and the dog for nice meal and big walk the next day. Room was plain but clean and tidy. Massive bed. Very nice steak and chips with side order of chilli fried brocoli and cheesecake after which was very tasty. Nice bottle of rijoca also. Dog friendly apart from restaurant. Plenty of outside seating also. Tasty fry up for breakfast. Once pub shut with windows wide open in room not a sound, slept like a log. All in all very good value for money.

Breakfast & dinner was absolutely delicious as was the choice available. The staff were so friendly, polite & very helpful. The rooms were very lovely, well decorated with just the right amount & kind of furniture in them.

Unfortunately, we came when it was very cold & icy weather & the bedrooms became very cold quite quickly when the heating went off so we had to ask a couple of times for the heating to go back on. We understood it’s an old building with original windows (very beautiful!) but it’s hard to warm up once you get cold.

This is a comfortable, well-run country pub with rooms close to Alton. We stayed a couple of nights here to attend a wedding nearby. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully quiet and the breakfast (full English for us) was excellent. The staff were pleasant and extremely helpful in giving us information on local taxis etc. It would be a good centre for visiting the beautiful countryside and villages nearby such as Selborne and Jane Austen’s Chawton.

Lovely welcome, and very accommodating staff. Tasteful decor. Comfortable bed and good shower room with stylish fittings. Excellent freshly cooked breakfast (perfect poached eggs) with very good coffee. Good powerful (and quiet) fan provided.

Very little space to put or hang anything in the room. No fridge for fresh milk (we hate those little plastic pots of "fresh milk"). We were given a small jug of fresh milk in the evening, but it had gone off by morning.

The room was comfortable. I liked that there was tea/coffee making facilities. There was space to hang up some clothes. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and staff all nice. I would stay here again. We only stayed one night after a wedding and all was fine.

The door to our room plus another door along the corridor was very creaky/squeaked when opened and closed. They need some WD40/oil added to the hinges. The shower was relatively clean but there was a some limescale along the grouting and around the shower plug hole

Lovely stay, attending a wedding and stayed here for the night. Fabulous friendly staff, beautiful clean room, super easy check in and out and we arrived early but were allowed to check in which was a great bonus to be able to get into the room before heading to a wedding Great breakfast choice and oerfectlcooked

Teeny, tiny thing but certainly takes nothing away from this lovely place was that would have been a bit lazy and have a lie in but we could hear music coming from the bar from 7.00 in the morning, it wasn't super loud and alot of people wouldn't even notice it so I'm probably being a bit picky

Very pleased to be upgraded which we did appreciate. Comfortable bed, easy to work shower with immediate hot water, plenty of tea and very tasty bagged coffee. Could look out of the windows which faced the front of the hotel and it was interesting to see how may locals arrived to have a drink. After unpacking went to bar for a local beer triple fff which we did enjoy. Staff were excellent, stand out praise for Annie and Abbie.

Firstly, great staff friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. The shower room was clean and spacious. The bar is very well stocked and the dining room comfortable and nicely furnished, the dinner menu is good but it would be nice to have a change as we have stayed here several times over the last few years and it’s still the same apart from a couple of specials which are generally the same too. Breakfast is very good and cooked to order. I highly recommend staying here and I’ve already booked for an overnight stay in October. It’s a busy place which just goes to show how friendly and well run it is.
