I can see why it's used for weddings. It is a beautiful place 😍. We couldn't fault our stay. We ate in the evening as we'd been travelling for hours and were starving. We had the Chicken and Beef pies respectively, and highly recommend them. They were delicious. We had an early start so didn't stay for breakfast, but if we had I'm sure it would have been just as good. An enjoyable experience all round.

The *only* downside is, if you are tall, like myself and my son, 5'10" and 6'3", beware of the beams. We almost brained ourselves a couple of times, even with the 'mind your head' warnings 😂 Beyond that I can honestly find nothing negative to say about our stay.

Lovely grounds and super comfortable room, very spacious, warm and welcoming and bathroom a good size. Perfect location for my work and dog friendly - great to have a room with access to outside grounds so very easy to exercise my dogs without trapsing through the hotel. It was a fleeting visit for me with late check in and early departure due to work so no time for food or drinks but on check in and departure staff were friendly and welcoming - will be returning.

Having some building improvements - not a negative at all as it didn't cause any disturbance - look forward to seeing the finished results.

I'm not sure why this review starts with a sad face but if it does, please ignore, it's great! Some reviews criticise this hotel but please remember it's 19th century! It's set in stunning grounds and is a beautiful building. Staff are fantastic, breakfast is great and the rooms, while varying, are very comfortable. Some have balconies or patio doors, others don't. Our room was gorgeous. Other reviewers across various sites, complain about door alarms and pipes. Honestly? It isn't a silent system and the doors beep if you haven't closed them properly but the noise is minimal. Lots of whingers out there! It's an idyllic setting so unless you're looking for high-tech, contemporary sleekness, this is perfect. Special mention to Nicky and Julie who are lovely.

The hotel was a beautiful old building set in stunning grounds. The room although very small had everything I needed for my one nights stay.

My only criticism which is not about the actual hotel or facilities, was that there were workmen directly underneath my room window in the grounds early in the morning and they were using a cherry picker to reach the guttering to work on. They actually raised the cherry picker so that the guy working was at eye level with my room window during my stay. I asked him if he could please wait as I felt my privacy had been compromised but despite asking he came back and carried on a short time after, even though my stay had not ended. On top of that the noise was horrendous.

Location was excellent staff were always helpful and friendly. A good place to meet up with our family and friends who live in the area while still giving us independance . Rooms were nice .

Unfortunately the evening meal was a great disapoinments and let down the what otherwise would have been a brilliant experience. The food was very poor over microwaved and rubbery .you would have done better not to have served such a poor meal as it detracted from the overall high standard .It is better not to do something than to do it badly . There are plenty of excellent ( the barn) restaurants within a few miles direct you guests to one of them . We did enjoys our stay .

I was so happy that there was a bath rather than just a shower. The bedroom was very spacious with lots of cupboard and drawer space. The bar was lovely and felt luxurious, nice beer too! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The house, gardens and grounds are beautiful.

I did not like the road junction to get into the lane leading to the hotel from Farnham as turning right off the fast lane of the A31 into the little turning space before crossing the opposite carriageway was a bit scary. I would choose a different hall & stair carpet as it didn’t really go with the style and decor of the hotel.

Super breakfast; spacious but still cozy room; very comfortable bed; spacious, clean and well appointed modern bathroom; nice room and bathroom aesthetics; efficient Wifi; the building (inside and out) and grounds exuded character and English country small manor charm; plenty of parking space; absolutely brilliant staff - engaging without being intrusive, and extremely helpful and accommodating.

Shower water took ages to warm, so lots of water wasted down the drain waiting for it to heat to an acceptable temperature.

Lovely quintessential English hotel. Beautiful location. Ideal for a short stay for family event in Guildford.

It a bit tired - the entrance is amazing but the rooms are tatty. It’s a bit Fawlty Towers. At breakfast there was clearly an issue with the chef, or maybe lack of chef. The food was a bit slapdash but this wasn’t an expensive place to stay so I guess you get what you pay for. This is somewhere waiting to become very special with some TLC and investment

The staff were amazing and the location and hotel were perfect. It was great to stay in a place with a history that the staff shared with us. The lounge bar area was cosy and homely. Despite there being a large event in the evening the staff still looked after us well.

It was a little disappointing that only breakfast is available there. This means having to eat out in the nearest town or bringing food in to eat, which we were pleased the team accommodated giving us plates and cutlery. We'd still stay there again and plan in advance for our other meals.

I like the fact that the room reserved for dog owners was brilliant in as much it had doors leading onto the garden which was great when the dog gets you up at 2.30 am wanting a wee. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Did not like having to cross dual carriageway to get to hotel. Thought breakfast a bit expensive.
