Room was spotless and spacious. Plenty of room for 2 adults with a child and toddler. Tea and coffee etc provided. Bathroom was also spotless and spacious with towels and body wash/shampoo provided. The staff were friendly and helpful when we had questions. Dinner/ lunch menu has a good range of options. Even our daughter who is texture particular found something she liked. 3rd floor - our toddler loved the view from the window and the cable restrictor meant we didn't need to worry.
The mattress was a little firmer than I'd have liked but still managed to sleep ok. No air con - room became quite hot by the early hours (3rd floor) which had woken me up. However, I opened the window and this helped as there was a slight breeze.

Clean hotel and rooms were spotless and helpful staff. Would stay again if and when in the area. Better than other hotels in the area where we stayed before.
Unfortunately we went for breakfast at 9am but there was hardly any food available and took 30 mins to refresh the breakfast items. So we had to go next door to the Toby carvery that sells a decent breakfast so it’s not too much of an issue as literally all you can do is walk 2 mins to the restaurant there. But it’s a shame that on this occasion the breakfast wasn’t served and organised well. We were in a rush to get to a work event that morning and couldn’t wait for the food to be served and prepared which for a buffet on a Saturday morning should have been pre arranged in advance ready for the morning ahead. Nevertheless a great stay overall and couldn’t complain about anything else and we will revisit this hotel as we are often in the area.

easy to get to - greeting from staff was good and quick - Toby pub was a bonus for tea - Room was clean as was the shower, hairdryer was useful. Local shop in the estate was useful too. I left my blue jacket in the room in error and the staff placed it in lost property. I made contact and my husband collected it without any issues.
Placed in the middle on the floor - neighbours banging doors during the night; woke me, and the early morning knocks at 6.15am was disappointing as I felt tired. My colleague being positioned at the end of the corridor heard nothing (lucky beasty) - Oh, and I couldn't locate an iron or board.

We’ve stayed at this hotel on many previous occasions. However in future I will always look to see if there is a small independent alternative because I have learned that the ibis group are “allowing illegal immigrants” to stay in their hotels and I always avoid hotel chains or large independent hotels that do this. I have already refused to stay in many of my previous favourite hotels because of the “illegal immigrant” issue.
Nothing wrong with hotel but my problem is with the hotel chain’s “illegal immigrant” policy.

We love being able to bring the dogs. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. Breakfast is very good. It's an Ideal location for our concerts at Horizon college.
We find that if you breakfast later rather than earlier the choices are more limited. So we had breakfast about 10 o'clock and there were no croissants left. On this occasion too, the only fruit was a mix of grapes and melon. The melon was so unripe it was really inedible. We do think it's unfair that we have to pay an extra £20 for the dogs. Most places only charge one extra amount. And in fact there's no extra cleaning required anyway.

The staff were friendly and helpful at this hotel. The location was great for motorway links, getting into Barnsley town, and lovely surrounding areas to explore. The hotel was spacious with large communal areas, and a hydration station available in the bar area. My room was clean, a good size and had a private, leafy view. The bathroom was supplied with nice toiletries and the shower was very good.
The Wifi was not secure (password protected), so that was a slight issue when I needed to work for a few hours, but I’ll know to check this next time.

The room was clean and comfortable. There was snow on the ground when we left and had to dig our car out of the snow. Many thanks to the lovely lady on reception who had been on duty all night and had no way of getting home and had to keep working as the day staff couldn't get there to relieve her..the snow was quite deep. She must have been very tired but sorted out breakfast and even helped some people to clear snow from their car...all with a smile on her face. I didn't get her name but she went above and beyond! I hope she gets paid overtime and then some!
The bathroom became flooded as the shower was not draining very efficiently. Everything else was fine.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was quick and easy Plenty of space in the car park There was a good size menu available (and a Toby Carvery next door if you didn't like the menu), although there wasn't much steak in the steak and ale pie to be honest! Breakfast was good, but I did have to wait for more to come out which would have been an issue if you had to rush in the morning.
Breakfast ran out of numerous offerings and there were a few people who were waiting for this to be topped up which was a little annoying if you were in a rush. Restaurant was a little sterile, more like a service station eatery

Breakfast was very nice. Room was very clean and had seating in it. The rooms are quite basic, ie open hanger - not a wardrobe. No hook in the bathroom to hang clothes whilst showering, but the shower was easy to use and regulate the water temperature. Shower gel and soap included. The bed was comfortable to me but my husband didn't find it comfortable. The staff we spoke to were really friendly and professional. An asset to the Ibis Company. Good hotel for one to two night stay
The TV was on the "dressing table" so not much space for doing hair, but did manage ok. The dressing table light was a bit faulty. I was going to mention this when checking out, but there was just a box to put the room keys into, and nobody on the reception desk.

Staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. Value for money tops this hotel, room, breakfast and parking for under £70.
Restaurant looks more like a canteen than a restaurant, its uninviting and there is no wonder very few people eat in the area at lunch or dinner time. The staff need to be taught about how to serve drinks from the bar. I had a red wine served to me in a gin glass!! They also need to be taught how to use the till properly and ensure they charge correctly too - we even said 'thats not enough' for our drinks but the member of staff responded 'yes its correct'. The service etc is just a little rough around the edges, the team isn't cohesive enough BUT they are ultra friendly.
