Ranscombe House takes it back to the old days of being a trusted visitor. You can help yourself to teabags (every flavour and 'mood' under the sun), coffee, sugar and biscuits. There is a fridge with alcohol where you can write down what you have and you are left to decide on whether you leave your dog at the property while you pop out. There is also a garden where they are free to roam (whilst supervised!). Pip and his daughter run a warm, friendly, care free hotel and we loved it. I am always very anxious about staying in smaller hotels but it was clean, the bed and bedding was amazing, the location was perfect and the staff were amazing. The breakfasts were another level on quality and quantity - you put your order in the night before and the time you would like to dine and boom it was there ready for you in the morning! We will return time and time again to this hotel. Thank you for an amazing few days.

Nice comfortable bed. Room nicely decorated and contemporary furniture. Bathroom well equipped. Staff welcoming and friendly. Good choice for breakfast. My husband enjoyed his kippers. Location close to town centre, and have a nice garden should you wish to use. The house is beautiful and nicely decorated. A lovely bright, airy breakfast room and a good amount of parking. Will definitely stay again.

The shower needs to be more powerful. The TV is rather small. However, I understand that as the room is compact (but comfortable). Breakfast was nice, but my egg yolk was hard, so that spoiled it a little, and it also had a taste of kippers (which I do not like) but overall a nice breakfast.

A few hundred yards from Brixham Harbour, this property has a lot of character. The owner, Pip, was very welcoming and showed us round the facilities and recommended a restaurant for our evening meal. There is a lovely garden, which because of the weather we didn't use. Good breakfast selection with quality local ingredients. Good value for money we thought.

Because the property is very old, the rooms can be a bit quirky. We were in 'Skippers' which has small ensuite facilities. If you are a little on the large side, I would request a larger bathroom when you book

Location perfect, view from crows nest two was lovely. Brixham harbour and boats. Breakfast excellent (didn't have green tea) but it's impossible to have every tea variety to suit all guests. Friendly staff at check in and breakfast.

Our bathroom shower would go from warm to very hot to almost cold without adjusting the dial.I got used to it but could be a concern to others. We parked beneath the tree in car park, needless to say our car was well and truly splattered with lots of bird muck in the morning. Avoid the tree if you can!!!

The feeling you get at Ranscombe house from the minute you arrive is that this is a warm and friendly place and that much attention to detail has gone into creating that. We were met by host Pip who showed us around and made sure we knew we could contact him if there was anything we needed. Toffees in the hallway, two small but comfortable lounge areas downstairs, hot drinks in the bedroom, an honesty bar in the dining room and an invitation to make ourselves at home, were all appreciated. We had a very clean room with the most comfortable bed and lovely bedding. Walking in to the room to a sea view at sunset was magical as was waking up to it in the morning. …As was starting the day with a, beautifully cooked to order, large choice hot breakfast and accompanying choices of cereals etc.. We were also really impressed with how warm, thoughtful, kind and friendly the two members of staff we met at breakfast, Jo and Grant, were too. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Sensitive too to some of us not being very awake in the morning. They both appeared as if they enjoyed their work and genuinely want you to relax and enjoy your stay. The B&B is very well situated. An easy walk into town and the harbour, yet quiet enough to hear the birds in the morning. A huge bonus was the off road car park and as Pip warned us about parking under the bird tree, the car stayed clean and safe there. Should we return to Brixham we would most definitely stay at Ranscombe House. Thank you.

Ranscombe House is a gem of a place. Located on the hill above the stunning Brixham harbour, we were delighted by the view, the balcony and the room size of the Admiral room. There is a large garden space and many sitting areas available for guests. The honesty bat in the dining room is a good idea. Many lovely decorative features in the rooms made thus feel like home. Thoroughly relaxing. The breakfast was sensational and the preordering was helpful.

The shower needs detailed instructions.

We we greeted at the door by our host, and shown to our room, it was explained that the kitchen would like to know our breakfast choice the night before. This was so that it t was freshly prepared when we were ready for it. ie. it was not delivered to our table until we had finished eating the cereal. The food was nicely presented, the eggs were done to perfection, still just runny! There was information in the room giving names of local eateries where an evening meal could be purchased. The location was close enough to be able to walk the harbour and town center. The building had an interesting history with a nautical connection. This establishment would be top of the list if a stop over in the locality was needed.

Beautiful building in an excellent location with Sea views. Great to be able to get all the family together in one small and friendly hotel. Pip could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent and great attention to details. Easy short walk into Brixham harbour. Rooms are bright and airy with everything you need. Free parking at this hotel and balconies and garden.

The owners were very friendly and polite, the food was excellent, and the harbour view from the Crow's Nest was amazing. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I would highly recommend a stay here

The stairs to the second floor were a bit tricky and steep, especially with luggage, but it's worth the climb for the view. There were some strange noises coming from the shower, maybe because another guest was showering

Pip and his staff were exceptional. Everyone was very friendly with special shout out to our breakfast waiter (sorry didn’t catch his name) who was a lovely guy. Breakfast was delicious with so much choice. Room was lovely with little extra touches that made it a nice place to stay. Bed was very comfortable.

Steep stairs to our room. But this couldn’t be changed!! Only negative I have!
