Peter and Helen were extremely friendly and helpful hosts. The hotel is decorated with lots of antique furniture with very attractive and sometimes unusual results. The bedroom was well equipped and everything worked well. Breakfast was excellent with a very good range of cereals, fruit and some unusual and attractive extras, as well as a very good selection of cooked options and excellent homemade marmalade. The car park is a very good size with well sized, well marked out spaces.

After staying in numerous hotels over the years, we can honestly say that the breakfast offered the most variety, especially homemade muesli, jams and ham, we have ever seen for a B & B hotel. A very nice touch was the homemade cake for the guests. Peter and Helen are fantastic hosts with the help of lovely happy Paul! Location was great. Lovely views. Walking distance to town. Room was perfect, an excellent idea was a small fridge containing fresh milk and bottled water.

It is a fantastic building with plentiful parking, a real bonus. Peter was an excellent host and made me feel welcome. The room was fantastic, and the bonus is the tremendous lemon drizzle cake Helen makes daily to welcome guests. Helen, get yourself on Bake Off. Fantastic locally sourced breakfast, both hot and cold selection, best I've had in a while, and I visit a lot of hotels/B&B's. I will 100% be back if I'm back in the area. Thanks - Rob from Glasgow

A great mixture of quirkiness & luxury, with some fun touches. Very friendly hosts with random amusing anecdotes thrown in! Extremely comfortable bed & lovely shower. Fabulous breakfast of your choice, cooked exactly how you want it, as well as a huge choice of fresh, healthy options. Yummy homemade lemon curd; yummy orange & plum compote. Very pretty, private garden; quiet location, only 15 minute walk to the seafront. Plenty of free parking with CCTV.

The Somerville is a lovely hotel. We came as a party of 3 couples and each couple had an excellent room which had its own character. Everyone was very happy. The somerville has several things going for it which sets it apart. First is the owners , Peter and Helen - from the get-go they make sure you are welcomed , relaxed and helps by providing local knowledge of what and where to go. Second - The location is just a short walk from the harbour but has ample parking. Third - The Decor and Rooms -it is furnished with items made by local artisans . As mentioned, every room has it's own unique character. The rooms are exactly as you would expect from a top flight B&B : clean, tidy, well thought out, excellent tea and coffee facilities and good quality toiletries. Fourth - The Breakfast . Its excellent , made with local produce and cooked to perfection.

Absolutely nothing to find fault with whatsoever.

It exceeded our expectations in everything including the wonderful breakfast menu. Peter and Helen were brilliant hosts. Very knowledgeable about surrounding areas. There attention to detail is phenomenal. Definitely would stay there again wouldn't go anywhere else. Helen makes wonderful cakes for the guests to help them selves too.

The only thing that slightly let the holiday down was the delayed regeneration works around the harbour you were putting your life at risk when manoeuvring around the centre , poor traffic management

Breakfast was excellent, homemade cereals & cooked breakfast perfect. The beds were extremely comfortable and pillows soft and "welcoming". Good sized shower with good pressure. Nice touch - scrumptious homemade cake was left every day for guests to enjoy with an afternoon cuppa.

As a regular overseas business traveller I value this stay as exceptional. Owners Peter and Helen were always there to make every guest as special and welcoming. They truly have put their heart and soul to this family business.

All positive experience - I wish there are more such boutique hotels where we could stay and enjoy having a homely feeling and quality all around. Highly recommend for a short break. Breakfast was excellent too.

Like to make a great shout out to this amazing little gem of a find. I travelled from Norfolk to Devon for an overnight stay to attend my godmothers 90th birthday. Nothing was too much trouble, allowing me check in early so I could spruce myself after a 6hr drive leaving home at 5am. Then I got the time mixed up for breakfast and turned up late but was given a beautiful table in the window and served. I would recommend this place to everyone and will definetly be my go too when I return - ( hopefully fly next time). Stayed in the garden suite and slept like a baby. Everyone went above and beyond.. What more could you ask for?
