Lovely fabulous location amazing views from room with balcony although balcony didn't lock but felt safe good facilities staff excellent very friendly good parking options amd great location

Lovely only thing that was on downside was breakfast advertised at £15 I got charged £18 and it really wasn't worth it at all overcooked bacon and sausage snotty eggs and pastures a bit stale but a good selection and fruit and cereal available

We've been coming here for 20 years. It has gone downhill a bit but still great.

Undercooked bacon and sausages at breakfast and no fried eggs. Inedible fried bread harder than pork scratchings. Taking six attempts to get the car park barrier to let you out is annoying.

Very nice place to stay, central location and great view. Great place for meetings and a beautiful venue for events.

Roomservice did not work. As for the room it would have been better with enclosed terrasses on the garden level floor where people with dogs stay. We travelled with a dog and so did the people either side of our room. The communal terrasse with privacy screens meant the odd dog on an unplanned visit and occasionally people walking past the patio doors (only window), which could easily be prevented. Not a major issue, just room for improvement.

The hotel is beautiful and has amazing views of the bay. It is well situated for the harbour, bars and restaurants. There were plenty of parking spaces. The drinks and snacks were reasonably priced. The room was larger than expected.

We were lucky to have hot weather during our stay. There was no fan or air conditioning in the room so we had to leave the windows open. Our room faced the car park and it got very noisy early in the morning with deliveries. There was no fridge in the room which would have been very useful. biscuits with the tea and coffee would have been nice. They were a bit slow to replenish some of the hot breakfast items. Some people might find the hill up to the hotel a bit of a struggle but to be expected with the cliff top position and worth it for the views. Some evening entertainment would be a bonus and would have encouraged us to spend more time in the bar.

A grand old hotel with lots of space inside and a great location. Fantastic view. Staff very helpful. Our room was very spacious with a comfortable mattress and great view of the bay. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice although often key items had run out (see below). With all the choice of hot and cold food you wouldn’t go hungry but didn’t always get what you wanted. The gym was good with rowing, running, cross-training and basic weights.

I don’t think meal times worked. In our first few days we turned up at 0930 for our allocated 0930-1000 slot. There was a queue and on one day we didn’t get seated until 0950 which was 10 mins before breakfast ended. I also didn’t like that it was usual for food such as bacon, beans, eggs to have run out and take up to 30 minutes to get replenished. By the end of the week it became obvious that food would be replenished but sometimes trays remained empty until 0958. Each day there was a tremendous amount of food wasted which was ironic as guests were regularly presented with empty food trays for most of the meal timing slot they had been given.

The location of the hotel was excellent with very good views of the bay and an easy walk to the town. The breakfast was extensive with a good variety of foods. The evening meal was also very good but a bit expensive against restaurants in the town. The cleaning staff were excellent. Overall we would consider staying there again.

Queueing to book in on arrival, took over half an hour. The bedroom was adequate but a bit on the small size and unfortunately we had noisy neighbours on one side of us for a couple of nights. Parking was expensive at £20 a day. Very disappointed that the outside swimming pool was closed during our stay. The hotel exterior is looking very tired.

One guest was in a wheel chair and noted on booking all access was wheel chair suitable. At check in as we had previously emailed re disability access, we were advised the room provided was more suitable. It was a lovely large room with an excellent sea view. There were steps into the breakfast area but a ramp was provided. Breakfast was excellent, being seated with easy access for the wheel chair. I also emailed re disabled parking, and a very prompt response was given. While there were only 8 spaces, when none were available we were able to park on the flat in a garage very close to the entrance. All staff friendly and helpful, and as we now cant stay with relatives due to them down sizing we will be staying at the Imperial on future visits.

Unable to find anything we didn't like.

The room was excellent , large and clean. The breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of food. Some of the staff in particular the bar staff were unhelpful and quite rude which was disappointing. The hotel itself is beautiful with stunning views.

A view of the sea without anything other than gardens in between (many hotels have a road in the way). Good amount of parking avoiding stress, choice of open air or under cover (though different charges). Fabulous history, marble, great views. Staff are lovely. Now joined the “skip a clean” so no worries about when they want to clean, you can still replenish supplies of water tea etc. from reception plus you get £5 credit per day towards food & drink, with the bar having a good choice of food (snacks & meals) & drink. Room has very comfy bed, good bathroom and our room had a dressing area with two wardrobes, plenty of space! Excellent breakfast, though occasionally had to wait for items to be replenished. The pool area is good, and I hear the spa is also great.

Stopped supplying biscuits! Shame. The pillows were not as good as previously. It’s a bath & shower over with curtain, I prefer a walk in shower but there is a good handrail plus shower mat for safety. No table on the balcony to use with the two chairs. Very out dated curtains in the corridors!

An old established hotel property that has a great grand lobby and terrace with spectacular views but the hotel itself is in real need of some TLC maintenance and improvements. Good accessible parking on site, large rooms with good bathrooms that are clean and comfortable but the mix of furniture, curtains and carpets in rooms is dated and not fitting a hotel 4-star. Overall 3 star. Whilst the breakfast buffet and teams are excellent , the evening service is let down by staff other than the maitre D and the restaurant is not up to good bistro / fine dining pricing ……..a look at the food quality / value for money is needed.

F&B team in the bar areas seem less well trained than those in the restaurant, although friendly the team leave the bar unattended , a number of items on menus are not available , kitchen staff drink at the bar and staff chit chat rather than clearing dirty glasses and plates off tables. Staff supervisors / trainers needed to look at restaurant evening service, housekeeping / maintenance of tired rooms and especially train and supervise bar and terrace areas. The outside terrace loungers have seen better days and closed outdoor pool does nothing to help the hotel image late June.
