the view is spectacular, we had a junior suite on the second floor with 3 large windows with sea view which is captivating. The room itself had recently been renovated along with the hallways all with new carpeting and fresh paintwork. It's an example of how some other U.K. hotel rooms are in need updating. the size of the room and furnishing is faultless. Car parking along the private road in front of the hotel is adequate. You need to be fairly fit as it's quite hilly surrounding the hotel which in itself is a very impressive building. would definitely stay again. We were on bed breakfast basis and breakfast is excellent with a varied choice of food..

evening meals were somewhat limited and expensive as too the drinks. £18.00 for a pint and large wine is expensive in my view. The hotel opposite offers and much more choice of menu and better value. Only 5 mins in a taxi (£6.50) will take into the Torquay with many restaurants to choose from. Also there's a bus stop just outside the main entrance, useful if you can use your bus pass!

My recent stay at the Osborne Hotel was absolutely wonderful—this hotel has quickly become one of my favourite places in the UK. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I had stepped into a different world: dramatic sea views, historic architecture, peaceful surroundings, and a sense of timeless charm that’s hard to describe. The setting is simply breathtaking—panoramic views of the sea and cliffs greet you the moment you step out the front door. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained and peaceful, making it feel like a private retreat far away from the bustle of town. There’s a true sense of tranquillity here, which makes it ideal for anyone looking to unwind, reflect, or simply breathe deeply and reset. I loved my daily breakfast in the elegant dining room—there was always a warm welcome, and the staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and down to earth. The food was delicious, with a lovely buffet selection alongside cooked options, and the window seating overlooking the gardens made every breakfast feel luxurious and serene. My room was warm, comfortable, and beautifully furnished. I especially appreciated being able to control the heating myself—such a small detail, but it made all the difference. Everything was clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully arranged. The Osborne feels like a hotel out of time. It’s no wonder that during the Victorian era, artists, writers, and philosophers returned here again and again. With its inspiring views, sea air, and calming atmosphere, it’s the kind of place where your mind can wander and your soul can rest. It’s a rare gem that offers history, beauty, and comfort in perfect harmony. I’m already planning my return visit—this time for 8 nights in a junior suite. That’s how special this place is. Thank you to the entire Osborne team for a truly unforgettable stay. You all were so amazingly kind and helpful and the service was top notch.

The indoor swimming pool was clean and peaceful—perfect for mobility drills and gentle exercise. Even though the boiler was undergoing repair at the time, I still used the pool and reframed the chilly water as invigorating cold therapy! And the cold water actually helped with muscle soreness recovery! But I’m thrilled to hear it’s now heated to 30°C (the warmest pool in the UK I hear) and look forward to enjoying it fully on my next visit. They were very apologetic about the swimming pool boiler not working (out of their hands).

The building is beautiful, the outdoor heated pool was fantastic for the children. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained and there’s a beautiful view out over the sea. The staff were friendly and our room was well kept with replacement biscuits, water and hot drinks provided each day.

I think the hotel would benefit from a slightly cheaper breakfast and greater availability of bar snacks and cream teas throughout the day and evening rather than just at set times- the hotel is missing an opportunity here! The indoor pool requires an upgrade and the ‘sauna’ is more like a draughty garden shed!!

The location was ideal for all the local tourist such as Babbacombe Model Village, Kents Caverns and Bygones. It is also a great location to get access to the beach and coast and has breathtaking views of the coast towards Berry Head, Brixham and Paignton. The hotel has a wonderful old nostalgic feel about it and is in amazing condition for its age. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant is exceptional and delicious with service very prompt and efficient. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean making the stay at the hotel all the more pleasant and enjoyable.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice and appear to have been redecorated which was good. Lovely sea view. Breakfast was very good. Prefer table service to buffet style.

Rooms with very hot, no air conditioning. Floors are on a slope but understand this is an old building. Shower could be upgraded to a rain fall. The shower head was quite small and slow for a double shower base. Water filled up more at one end due to uneven floors. Could provide face clothes, more toiletries (larger) Corridors have been painted in a dark terracotta colour which makes it look dark and a bit dated. Could have been painted to match the rooms (personal opinion)

We booked the back room as there cheaper and as we have stayed several times we know the rooms at the back face the trees But there's no need for the place to be scruffy and rubbish left outside and definitely not on the little roof top we where back in Torquay this weekend but didn't stay with you As you know there are lots of New hotels being built and some getting refurbished So keeping old customers happy is a must

The hotel is well located in front of the sea only 20min walk from the harbour. The outside area is relaxing and well maintained. Reception,lobby, and bar area are welcoming and clean . The pool has a decent size with the perfect water temperature, which makes you enjoy and relax even more . Our room was clean and big with a fantastic Seaview. The best part was the bed and the mattress, super comfortable. Last but not least, staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. I highly recommend it

Room and view exceeded expectations. Cooked breakfast very good. Continental breakfast could be better, poor lighting and display. Catering front of house Staff well trained but need to give a little more attention to detail. The outdoor pool area was lovely and inviting and well organised.

Indoor swimming pool changing facilities were uninviting. Better signage and lighting to the pool required. The dinner menu was a little limited, more like all day pub dishes. Would have liked maybe a few more upmarket special dishes added for the evening meal together with a restaurant starter menu. Food was tasty and good portion size.

Charming historic hotel in a beautiful panoramic location. The service provided by the staff was EXCELLENT! The restaurant offers good quality dinners with generous portions. Breakfast, on the other hand, was truly abundant and of very high quality. We stayed in a basic economy room, which was simple but had everything we needed. It was clean, though not soundproof. Overall, a great stopover for anyone on a road trip across the UK. The city itself isn’t among the most beautiful, but the hotel definitely makes up for it.

Wonderfully situated with stunning views. The indoor pool was clean and warm. The room was spotless, well furnished and bright. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The bed was a little too soft for my liking although I know I’m in the minority. On the second day I got a dirty folk at breakfast so had to swap it with a neighbouring unused table. I couldn’t park in the grounds upon arrival as all spaces were taken. Had to lug our belongings all the way from the public highway outside the gate.
