We loved the hotel; it had an old fashioned feel but the decor and facilities were perfect. We unfortunately arrived late but Grace (reception/bar) was so sweet and reassuring and really looked after us. We had a confortable night of sleep and a fabulous shower before the best cooked breakfast ever. Nancy was in the breakfast area and couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. Thanks to everyone who loked after us, made breakfast, prepared the room etc. We had a wonderful time and we will return. Jo, Graham and Grace x
Nothing to dislike at all One thought- in the dark it was hard to find by sat nav via postcode so perhaps you could change this? Many thanks x

This is a delightful old coaching inn, with half-timbered and panelled interiors: very quaint and cosy. Its location on the A505 and next to the railway station is great, and it is not noisy. The garden is lovely too. Breakfast is included in the room rate. If you were to buy breakfast separately in their cafe, as a walk-in customer, it would be £10 each. So that makes the room rate even better value. The dinners offered in the pub restaurant are excellent. We are vegetarians and there were good choices; I expect that guests with other dietary requirements would be well served too. We've stayed here twice now and would do so again, it's a bit of a hidden gem.
I can't fault it.

Each and every member of staff that I spoke with were excellent, very professional and polite. Very happy to help. The food was also excellent, we experienced the breakfast with was very tasty, well cooked and presented. We also enjoyed an evening meal in the bar. Had an issue during the night, brought it up to the staff the following morning and it was put right with no fuss. Now the location, we were attending the Aur display at Duxford and this location cant be any better, for travel into Cambridge, cant be easier, jump on the train at the station, some 50 yards away, two stops and your there.
We were in room 19, didn't see any other but it was tired and felt unloved, I'm aware that the venue has been taken over and under new management and so room updates and minor repairs may be coming very soon. However the decor issues did not take away from our enjoyment and satisfaction of the hotel.

Quirky coaching inn dating back in parts 500yrs. Also had ‘Duxford Chapel’ in its garden. Parking straight forward enough, spaces sign posted in the holiday inn car park. Just have to input number plate into computer. Very friendly welcome. All the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We stayed on one of the hottest weekends of the year. Unfortunately due to safety reasons the sash window in our room didn’t open very wide, however a tan was provided. Unless you were staying in an air conditioned room nothing was going to help.. obviously due to the age of the building this wasn’t a possibility. Room was fine, big tv on wall, hairdryer tea and coffee facilities. Lovely powerful shower however bathroom needed some attention. Told by staff upgrading the rooms is to be on going. Lovely garden to sit in. A major road and railway line and station are in very close proximity, but it didn’t bother us. And if you wanted to go into Cambridge it’s only a10 min train journey. Ate in the pub first evening, cod and chips for my husband, scampi and chips for me.. no complaints. Breakfast both mornings was fine .
Rooms and bathrooms need some love and attention, but it wouldn’t stop me staying again

Location was excellent being next to the train station.
The breakfast could do with improving. My wife’s veggie breakfast was under cooked and the beans were cold

Charactor historic 14th century pub, beside it is a old chapel.breakfast included.lovely quality bedroom.beautiful large garden area sunny day had dinner outside.deck chairs and benches.free play on pool was nice.
A little confusion on parking but was fine when we asked at bar u av to go right around to the back of pub after yellow barrier area. there 10 spaces parking for pub. and put ur reg in there system,as at start of carpark, theres signs 2nd one its holiday inn parking, and fines of 100 quid if u go over time if u avnt put ur reg in etc,so its important to make sure u put it n the right carpark registration system.both systems are in pub whether u park there or pubs spaces if any confusion put in both or one or other ur parking in,but makes sure u note it in which car park u are in so u arnt fined from holiday inn. and ul b fine plenty of help at bar from staff if confusion.its also opposite railway station also.whittlesfield.

The hotel had some free parking and was close to the station. It is an old building so had lots of character. The staff were friendly and provided useful taxi information before our stay. We asked for a room with a shower and for a fan in the room and these were provided. The breakfast was good although we had to wait a while as there was only one staff person serving. She was lovely and did her best.
The room and the bathroom were very small but there isn’t much can be done about that. However it was ok for one night and we would stay again, despite that.

Lovely welcoming team. Parking was excellent for us and walking in with our dog after a long tiring day the greeting was really lovely. We were offered food and drink immediately and our dog also was made to feel welcome. There are no ground floor rooms and no lift so wouldn’t suit some people. The room was pleasant and bed comfortable. The shower was a rain shower type which isn’t adjustable but it was warm immediately and powerful. The only downfall was it needed better cleaning. It looked like the toilet had been blocked at some point and had overflowed with mashed up dried toilet paper. We didn’t complain though but I know it would have been addressed if we had done. The building is obviously old and as such has its own peculiarities and quirks. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again. The welcome and attentiveness makes up for small deficiencies. Thank you.

Clean comfortable room, plenty of hot water - breakfast was just great in choice and quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Parking is a bit chaotic - only 10 allocated spaces to service 18 rooms and other patrons. When we turned up the allocated car park was full and I had to leave the car in the main carpark (operated by Smart) to get help from the staff. I’m fully expecting to receive a £100 fine even though I paid £12:50 for 12 hours parking. Staff should have been a bit quicker to get me to register for the 2 hrs free parking on arrival to avoid a fine.

This is a traditional inn of some antiquity, apparently refurbished and extended by a hotel company. The location was perfect for my intended purposes - a sports event in the village and a visit to the famous Duxford airfield and museum. There was a good atmosphere throughout the stay. The staff were pleasant and helpful, even after I accidentally took the headboard from my bed right off the wall, in the msitaken belief that it was attached to the bed. The food was excellent. It was not just that the "traditional hotel breakfast" was offered. I had a magnificent steak for dinner on one of the three nights I stayed. I wanted to have dinner more than once but, on the Sunday, I found everything closed at [from memory] 7pm . I was told that this is normal for the district, but I can't help thinking that the location is thereby losing out on potential profit. My room was comfortable, but small, even for a single room. This was OK for the three nights I stayed, but would become irksome for anyone wanting an extended stay. The bathroom was clean, modern, but tiny. There was no shelf on which to park toiletries and, on reflection, I couldn't see where there might have been room to erect one. The shower was a tight squeeze and the shower head is non-dirigble. This is fine for a day, or a few days, but an extended stay might be different.
