We received a warm welcome on arrival and throughout our stay all of the staff were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We really liked that breakfast is cooked to order and even the cereals and juices were served to our table. We had our evening meals in the pub and the food was delicious with a decent choice for us as vegetarians. The Lord Byron is easily accessible from the motorway with a park and ride a short walk away if required to get into Cambridge. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Cambridge
There was nothing we didn’t like

We have been coming to the Lord Byron for many years now.. it is an excellent venue close to the centre of Cambridge.. The rooms are well appointed and the staff very friendly Excellent value for money.
Unfortunately as last year we arrived back at the Lord Byron at 22.45 hoping to get a drink only to be told that last orders had already been called. I understand that the the bar should according to the signage be open until 11.00pm. We will be back next year and hope that as in the past we will be able to get a drink and the bar won't close until 11.00pm. An excellent venue a shame that it does not stick to licencing times.

Best part for me was breakfast, cooked and served exactly as I wanted it, to perfection and I loved the old world charm of the bar/restaurant. It's not the Ritz, so don't expect too much, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful both evening and morning. Tip: there's a petrol station a few hundred yards down the main road that sells papers to read over your morning coffee.
Not a lot really; the hotel is in a particularly busy part of Cambridge (another tip, every part of Cambridge is busy now thanks to bus and bicycle lanes) but being tucked down a small lane next to the churchyard, you miss most of it.

My wife had been admitted to Adenbrookes Hospital for surgery at the rush and this was the nearest accommodation I could find - it proved to be a treasure! Characterful well signed traditional pub with well tended beers, lots of polished wood, generous space to park without charge, warm genuine welcome by all the staff I met but notably very helpful landlady Diane who remained calm despite my volunteer driver collecting me at speed not unlike a kidnapping scene in budget thriller - and Raymond - charming as he served a reasonably good Full English impeccably with good conversation if wanted and Eve sparkling in early evening andRexcellent cooks sent out A1 dishes. Rooms rather small and basic but warm and adequately fitted out - mine had a good "accessible" fit in the room. rather basic but adequately rooms as expected at the relatively modest cost rooms, good English breakfast and great lunch and dinner menus
For that price a minor miracle was performed!

Lovely old traditional pub with a very nice beer garden and in a good location. Very handy for Duxford and Cambridge which was easy to get to using the local buses. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was really good, (we had breakfast and dinner there). The room was clean and comfortable, perfectly adequate.
Not keen on the rubbish piled up around the back of the pub that you could see from the beer garden and the stuff piled up down the end of the accommodation block. That was the only negative thing, but it didn't impact our stay. We'd definitely stay there again.

Staff lovely price of hotel and bar prices good also, plus we like the location as it's a nice walk into Cambridge and Grantchester. Breakfast was okay but not a big choice to be honest.
They have improved the Byron, but it could do with a lick of paint in the bar area and it needs re plastering in places. We stayed in room 2, and would love to know if staff members live above the Annexe as the stomping around the room and what sounded as though heavy things where being dropped was deafening at times. If staff do live above in the Annexe please give consideration to visitors below especially when it happens at 2.30am

Excellent location with parking, fantastic staff, comfortable rooms and a great pub. Easy access to the town via a bus, a couple of other pubs are nearby if you want other dining options, we stayed on a Monday night where the pub was closed for meals so a short walk down the street was another pub which was open. We did eat at the Lord Byron the following night and it was busy, the meals delicious and generously portioned. Breakfast was great with lots of options. The hotel rooms are dated but very clean, spacious and comfortable. Overall the Lord Byron is great value for money option and we would stay here again with no hesitation.
Nothing to really complain about, there was no fridge in our room, but the staff held medication for us in their fridge which was great.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Needs blackout curtains or blind. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
We arrived Friday had booked a two night stay. Was Valentine booked a table in advance. We received our meals, my wife ordered two starters as a main meal. I ordered the lamb which was tough. Complained they replaced was better. Wife's food was good. Limited menu. Disappointed the fire was not lit on the Friday when arrived as it was cold. Different staff Saturday night fire was lit made it feel cosy. Went to a local Indian Saturday evening very nice. Pub itself needs some tlc

Unfortunately we didnt have time to have breakfast, due to an early hospital appointment so unable to comment on that... Harry & Eve went above & beyond to help in anyway they could. They are a credit to the establishment...The room was clean, warm & very accessible to the pub & parking. We were able to park in the disabled bay. The food was delicious & fairly priced...Our stay was made very smooth. Thank you...
Its not that I didnt like anything but I know, (Running my own female painting & decorating business for over 40 years) It would be beneficial for the owners to splash out some money to upgrade the frontage & car park as it doesn't do the rest of the business any justice...

Free car parking, nice beer garden ( and some sun) Accomodation in a block a covered walkway from the actual pub, so quiet and easy to sleep. Good beer, good pub food, very good staff, and an excellent breakfast £ miles form the places we needed to get to for our weekend activities - all was good!
Pub not as busy as I thought it would be on a friday night, so atmosphere a bit lacking, but lovely puc , good service but would here have been enough staff if busy though?? Quite a wait for breakfast next morning once order had been taked. It did mean that everything was cooked fresh, but it took 40 mins, and the egg was a bit dry, so I wonder if there was some batch cooking and keeping warm in the kitchen going on although it apeared every order was cooked to order. good job we were not on a tight schedule for morning activities. 8.30-9.30 a bit of a short window - would have thought on a saturday, an 8am start would not have been too much to ask.
