The accomodation is in historic17th century Georgian coach house right in the centre of a bustling village with a well stocked butcher and a convenience store on the opposite side. Just thinking of all generations that previously stayed there gives one a comforting sense of belonging to a tribe of Eternal travellers tribe on a quest of perpetual exploration. The rooms named after English monarchs are lavishly appointed with canopied beds which are incredibly spacious to sleep in.We stayed in Henry VIII room. The house features some curiosities from a long time ago: a lavishly binded Bible in a glass case downstairs, a fine example of a medieval commode with carved facade wedged behind the bar, and to my particular delight, a medieval , probably French infantry helmet made of forged steel , riveted known as chape le fer and a horse man's axe the kind Robert the Bruce used to such a devastating effect when challenged by an English knight in an apocryphal duel aftermath the battle of Bannockburn. I have found quite a few pictorial representations of a similar axe used by knights on horse ( standing on their stirrups and using both of their hands to deliver a blow that can literally cleave through the helmet) an authentic piece even The Wallace collection could be proud to display. How it came in possession of a village pub an enigma I am not capable to comment on! Unfortunately the dining hall featuring modern replicac swords and pictures of knights was not open for dinner because of the low season we enjoyed traditional breakfast and very good it was too. Hopefully we will be back during High season for a leg of Welsh lamb we enjoyed when we visited earlier in 2021.

We were quite happy as it was. The staff was incredibly accommodating as we were the only guests !!!

The staff at The Red Lion....Kelsey, Merlin & Abbie were excellent, friendly and helpful. The accommodation was spot on for us. Clean, tidy, comfortable and warm. Great atmosphere and nice to meet and talk with locals. Food served was excellent...hope you're hungry as portions do not disappoint. Breakfast full English was dam good to !!!. Lovely place just 6 miles from the Red Kites Feeding station...a must visit!!!. Highly recommended The Red Lion Hotel. If you get chance to book...don't hesitate!!!

Having to leave so soon.

Loved our overnight stay here, on check in was told that breakfast was included. We had a very nice evening meal and a full English breakfast and both meals were very good. Staff are exceptional, locals really friendly. Mattress was a little smaller than the frame but we found it comfortable and loved the soft pillows. More than enough toiletries and teas/coffees in the room. Absolutely incredible for the amount we paid, above and beyond what I expected. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

It's a wonderful old building. Loads of character. We had the pleasure of sleeping with Elizabeth 1st . Yes you read that right. I did ask the staff the reason behind the names she couldn't tell me. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The bed was really comfy and. Clean. It was a 4 post bed and the room was set in a royal deep red and gold theme, with old dark wooden large furniture. The colour continues to the bathroom with red wall paper where the steam of a bathroom had started to warp the paper. The cleaners do an amazing job with such an old building. Don't come to this building with a spirit level. As nothing is level. The floors or the walls. But it is very much a very Old building in a small town. It's a case of you get what you pay for. Don't book this place and expect the Hilton for the price you're paying. But if you're just needing a place to lay your head for a reasonable fee that is clean and covers the basics then this place does the job. In the room there was a TV which did work. and the basics of kettle coffee tea ect. White towels. Think that covers it.

No meals available. No evening meal or breakfast. We had been at a market stall all day in the rain and just wanted a warm meal but we settled for packet sandwiches from a local co-op. This was available when I booked and then received an email after booking saying no food available. So that was a shame.

Great size Room second time now been in Mary 1. Spotless clean. Fresh bedding.Clean Towels. Complimentary shower gel and shampoo and coffee and tea condiments and biscuits.

Just the mattress, so didn't sleep well could do with a new fitting (smaller than actual bed frame) deeper mattress that is memory foam or Orthopaedic with memory foam topper. I love the Room Mary 1,but really could do with a new mattress then would be perfect for good night sleep.

The room was done in a grand traditional style and was a good size. The corridors and stairs also had old historical items like a suit of armour, coats of arms, paintings etc. The staff were friendly and helpful

There were a couple of minor things but they didn't spoil our stay: The windows didn't open so you couldn't let fresh air into the room, there was a green emergency light which stayed on all night and it made it difficult for me to get off to sleep and the mattress was very soft.

The bedroom was amazing and it was great to spend sometime having a drink in the courtyard garden as the sun was setting and swallows were circling. This place is near to a railway station on the Heart of Wales line and also the A40.

Not being able to have breakfast when I satyed was a slight disadvantage. However, this was refelected in the price. Happily, there is also a convenience shop directly opposite the hotel open from early in the morning to buy food.

The whole place had lovely character. The were great with big 4 poster beds. The people staff and locals were lovely. Price was very good. Overall a great first night to our holiday. Oh and lovely safe off road parking too, through an archway.

Shame the kitchen was closed. Would have been great to eat there too. We had to go get fish n chips from the next village.. But they were lovely fish n chips!

Room was very spacious, spotless, great value for money. Bedding clean and fresh. Tea,Coffee condiments all included. Shower gel,Shampoo and Towels all provided. Spacious shower.

Maybe would benefit with a thicker Duvet for Winter months and a mattress topper or firmer mattress. Other than that was perfect.
