The room was clean, and the bed was very comfy. The food was delicious and there was a good choice. Breakfast was also very tasty. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. A rally took place the weekend we stayed, and we were phoned beforehand to be warned that it was coming through the hotel premises and given the chance to cancel, which we didn't.

My only criticisms would be about the bathroom which was quite compact and if you're not skinny then the proximity of the toilet between the bath and wall was challenging, shower pressure wasn't great and the bathroom door didn't shut very well.

The meals,the presentation wonderful ,the service,cleanliness all great. Staff very helpful and pleasant . The history of the building. Would definitely come back here to stay longer in room 108. Loved having a very hot bath after travelling to hotel .complimentary toilettries were great. Nice tv on wall positioned great to watch from massive bed and another smaller bed across from room . Put radiator on yourself to suit your needs. Fab having a central lounge area to go to on upper level if wanted to meet up with family ,friends. Location perfect. Would stay again when visiting lampeter .Thank you to all staff for making our first time stay fabulous.

Excellent breakfast, freshly cokked to a high standard. Staff were polite and helpful.

The bar/downstairs area of the hotel seemed to shut down quite early. There was an upstairs lounge, but that was not as comfirtable as the downstairs sofas and tables. We were initially given a room that did not match the description of the room that I'd been provided. This was changed on request, but should have been right first time. Our first night evening meal had had two coffees added. As we were not initially provided with an itemised bill for the meal, this was not obvious. Again this was rectified when challenged. Small errors like this are a bit frustrating. I do not want to have to keep checking that things are as they should be.

Hotel was in the centre of Lampeter, we’d booked a dog friendly room and received a lovely welcome from the staff as did the dogs. The staff were helpful and exceptionally friendly throughout our stay and our dogs received treats and a lot of fuss. Room was large and very clean. Nicely decorated. Bed was in large and very comfortable. Very nice bath too, with lots of hot water. Breakfast in the restaurant was amazing and we had dinner one of the nights which was great too. On the whole, a great stay, will definitely stay again when in the area.

Minor points. Shower mixer needs attention, was difficult to get temp right. Attention to some details in the room like the net curtains and wardrobe had seen better days.

I ALWAYS stay here when I come to visit family. They are an incredible team and whenever I may of had issues due to loa ruins within the hotel they have never had an issue and moved me to a more comfortable suit. I’m a sensitive to sound person! I always feel annoying but they never make me feel that way! Would recommend 100% and when it comes to value! You won’t get better! And they only use local meat to support the farmers!!! GOOD ON THEM!!! Great stay! As always!

Friendly, comfy, clean all of it!

Very comfortable and historic hotel with pleasant friendly staff. We had breakfast and evening meals during our 2 day stay and both were good. The hotel is centrally situated in Lampeter with easy access to the town on foot and to other parts of mid-Wales by car or bus. There is a good sized car park at the back and we had no trouble with parking.

Our room was on the second floor, which was quite a hike with luggage as there is no lift. Our double bed was pushed up against the wall of the bedroom which meant that one of us had to climb over to get into bed. Not ideal!

Nestled in the heart of Lampeter, the Black Lion Royal Hotel boasts a spacious car park conveniently situated at the rear, ensuring ease of access for guests. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the exceptionally friendly staff, whose hospitality set a delightful tone for our stay. While the bedrooms exhibit a touch of vintage charm, this only adds to their character and does not detract from the overall experience. The mattress provided a sumptuous comfort, allowing for a truly restful night’s sleep that left me rejuvenated. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was a revelation; the menu offered an impressive array of dishes that were not only reasonably priced but also of remarkable quality, making each meal a delightful experience. Breakfast was particularly noteworthy, featuring a splendid selection that catered to various tastes. Without a doubt, I would choose to return to this splendid establishment during my next visit to the Lampeter area, as the exceptional customer service truly deserves commendation.

The hotel was lovely and the staff were great. The location was perfect. In the first room we had a shower, when I booked I asked for a bath. We went back down to the reception and asked for a room with a bath, the receptionist was nice and understanding. We got another room with a bath and a floor lower which was much better. Thank you.

On our day of leaving, not one member of staff was around, to do the breakfast we waited a long time with other guests sat outside at the back of the hotel. My husband just wanted to go home, We wanted to be on the road to get home early, as we are from Worthing.

The staff at the Black Lion is really really friendly and welcoming. They were able to answer any questions and made our stay easier. They have a section in the restaurant for dog owners and we were able to bring our little Daisy who was offered dog biscuits and water. Really nice touch. The hotel itself is pristine and we had dinner there which was excellent. There is a parking and out of opening hours facility to get in and out the hotel. I booked one of their dog friendly rooms which is always a plus when you have a canine companion you travel with.

We stayed on maybe one of the hottest nights in Wales. The room had no air con which is ok but the fan that was provided was inadequate for a family room. Hot and flustered we did not have a great night despite the mattresses being really good. Not the pillows though that were way too soft. We wanted to stay one more night but gave up because of the fan and pillow situation but do not let this put you off as it's not usually that warm and some people like soft pillows. Our party does not unfortunately.

Staff were very welcoming, polite and helpful. We were there when the storm hit. We were checked on in the morning, making sure everything was OK and if there was anything that kept us awake. Room was lovely, large bed and plenty of space for the 2 of us. Rooms were made daily. Good choice of food for the evening and both continental and cooked breakfast in the morning.

Radiator did not work in the bathroom, reported when we left, was not an issue when we stayed as the towels were changed the following day.
