Been a number of years since we stayed here. Been beautifully updated. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is in the village but very quiet. The bar, beer and food were top notch. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were very helpful.

There was nothing to dislike. Couple of very minor points : Fire needs to be lit a bit earlier in the lounge on cooler evenings; we were a bit chilly until it got going properly at around 7:30 pm. I asked about the beers on the special board, but the bar staff couldn’t tell me what they were. E.g. Evan Evan’s… doesn’t tell me what it is, and they didn’t know. Sorry… all in the spirit of constructive criticism.

Y Talbot is full of charm and character. At the same time it offers excellent modern comfortable and quiet accommodation. The location is conveniently right in the centre of Tregaron. My purpose in visiting was to spend as much time as possible at the nearby Cors Garon Nature Reserve. The owners are very accommodating, letting guests have 24 hour access to the hotel and serving breakfast up till 10am. Both these facilities were really important for me. The staff on breakfast were charming and helpful. I like the fact that the owners are resident and actively manage the hotel

Y Talbot is the only establishment in Tregaron serving food which is edible. The standard is high but it was disappointing to note the menu was fixed, so an absence of daily specials. A choice of only two vegan/ vegetarian mains was limited and the portion was small. I asked the bar staff for a little flexibility in ordering my meal which was refused. That meant my second evening meal ended up being a picnic outside.

Beautiful location with hosts that were so welcoming and caring. We were arriving close to their food cut off and they rang to check if we wanted food and place an order... except we were out of Mobile signal ... that meant close by ... the thought was very much appreciated. Garden Suite room was spacious and well appointed.. one of the most comfortable beds ever... loved the wood furniture with rounded corners😉👍🏻. Lovely fresh door opening out to enjoy the view and fresh air. Food both breakfast and evening meals excellent. Great location for exploring the local beauty.

The extractor for the kitchen is loud.. but gets switched off soon after 10 pm, but that's a minor comment.

Exceptional in every sense. I was upgraded to a larger room with a bigger bed with a view across the market square with wonderful examples of how you should no drive when people and tractors are around. The food in the bar excellent and so was the cider ordered. A table reserved and served by attentive staff. I had great time and slept like a log. Oh and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were a perfect breakfast choice.

Not a lot really.

After booking in, we found that one of the windows in our room did not close properly (otherwise, the room was fine). We were immediately upgraded to another, even nicer, room at no extra cost. Dinner and, especially, breakfast were both excellent as was the local ale served in the bar. All of the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and efficient, but a special mention for Michael, who seemed to be everywhere throughout our stay! Splendid.

I last stayed here 9 years ago while working in Ceredigion and booked because of those previous good experiences. The food is outstanding in my opinion. I opted for a 'simple' burger dinner (not usually my style) in the bar area and it was the nicest burger I have ever had. The rice pudding dessert achieved the same perfection, as did the porridge at breakfast. I will definitely be back if I need an overnight stay in that area again.

My single room was good value but old fashioned., far less attractive than the rooms I have stayed in elsewhere in Y Talbot before. There's also less parking around the hotel than previously, the rear car park having been largely turned over to landscaping.

Excellent facilities, very clean. Modern bathrooms and furniture in the rooms married perfectly to the quaintness and history of the original ancient building. A welcoming log fire in the bar area and friendly efficient staff. We used the dinning room for breakfast and dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the well cooked and varied food and wine on the menu.

Honestly can’t think of anything I didn’t like

Have been there once before and wanted to go back. I was not disappointed, the standards and friendly staff continue and a peaceful location. Lovely roads to get there too.

My 11 year old daughter loves her breakfast but was a little disappointed that there were no hash browns or black pudding on the menu. She did however, enjoy the salmon and scrambled eggs.

The full welsh breakfast has to be the best i have enjoyed whilst touring in Wales. The food for dinner was excellent. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The ensuite bathroom was a good size, and the shower was great. The bed was comfortable, and the room was a good size and was clean. The complementary bottled water, tea, and biscuits were replenished each day.

I can't think of anything I didn't like.

Perfect spot for an overnight stay. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast was served to order, fresh and tasty with cereals, toast, coffee, and juices while you wait. All staff that I encountered on check-in, the bar, and breakfast were pleasant and helpful. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
