As a 2 star traditional pub with rooms this place has a lot to offer and is to be recommended. The landlord and landlady are welcoming and personable. The hotel is comfortable with a dedicated restaurant and residents lounge. The bar has a log fire in winter and the beer garden has a spectacular view across a valley with waterfalls to the Cambrian mountains beyond with displays of red kites. Food includes home made pies and Welsh lamb broth. I really enjoyed the full Welsh breakfast which included old school 'Army' fried bread: job done for me. Don't be put off by the condition of the outside which needs a little bit of tlc because it is what is inside that counts.
I enjoyed the Brains IPA but it was a bit too cold for me. I needed some gravy with the pie! The TV was in full working order but it could do with an upgrade to a 43 inch wall mounted TV.

The staff were lovely and accommodating. They were able to accommodate our request of two rooms close by. The views of the waterfall were an unexpected bonus! The fans in the top rooms were very welcome. My teens appreciated the QR code wifi info on arrival. Bruce, who was on dinner duty, was lovely and an absolute professional.
It was quite dated in terms of decor, but it was clean and comfortable. (Replacing the old art with local photos would make a huge difference).

Breakfast was cooked perfectly. The room was small but quaint with a good size bathroom and i say that as good thing, just what you want from a stay in the welsh hillside. Hosts were exceptionally friendly. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area. Fairly priced and good breakfast. For bikers, they have a secure place to store your bike during the stay.

The location was brilliant, stunning views from our window, owners were very friendly and accommodating, they allowed me to put my motorbike in their garage, food was good , and bed was lovely and comfortable we had a great night sleep.Loved there was ample tea/coffee in the room also .
Only thing I would say is the rooms need a bit of a update mainly new carpet and a brighter light bulb , but they have everything you need for a comfy night stay .

The hotel is located in a great place and near to a wonderful waterfall. It was a pure pleasure to have a nice view and hear the birds singing and water rushing every morning. The room was spacious enough for a couple, clean, ensuring a comfortable stay. The staff at the hotel are incredibly welcoming and go out of their way to make sure guests have everything they need. Dining at the hotel is an experience in itself, with a variety of delicious, well-prepared dishes.
While our stay at the hotel was largely enjoyable, we noticed that the toilet flush and the ventilation system in the bathroom were a bit noisier than we expected. However, this was a minor inconvenience and didn’t significantly impact our overall experience or comfort during our stay.

This is a great, family run hotel and we are very happy we found it. All the staff were very friendly (and funny), the evening meal and breakfast were superb, the real ale was great and the log fire in the bar made it an extremely comfortable evening with the locals. Our room was located at the back of the hotel so was very quiet and had a lovely mountain view. We could just hear the waterfall at the back of the garden. They had great facilities for mountain biking, lock up and drying room. Perfect!
Nothing.

The staff really made our stay for us. They were so friendly and welcoming. We were travelling by motorbike and it was a real bonus that the hotel has a covered, locked location where we were able to keep our bike overnight. Breakfast was excellent, we had a lovely dinner in the bar, and the view from our bedroom was superb. For the price we paid, we really can't fault the George Borrow Hotel. It's excellent value for money.
Getting the motorbike in the garage was a little snug, but it was worth the effort to know it was safe for the night.

I was so pleased to be able to book this hotel when my original cancelled at short notice. The George Borrow is a lovely place to stay with very friendly and welcoming staff and a homely atmosphere. Everywhere was clean and tidy. My room was perfect for me with a great shower. The breakfast was really tasty as were the evening meals which I had both evenings. I really enjoyed them and thought they were good value too. There was a good selection of drinks in the bar which also had a tv and pool table.
Everything was great.

Host allowed us to check in early, staff waited on my wife and I hand and foot, even upgraded our room. The room was incredibly comfortable and had free wifi. We loved sitting next to the open fire and having a drink together. Food was exceptional and couldn’t fault it at all. All homemade fresh food. Can’t recommend this place enough.
Room was slightly cold, only one radiator working but nothing serious and nothing too uncomfortable.

Lovely ‘good Old fashion’ hotel. Beautiful scenery and views. Rooms were good and as expected in an Old building. The hosts were brilliant and we had a great breakfast and evening meal. Pay on arrival as it saves the hotel money. Would definitely stay again.
Not a negative really as it didn’t bother us but it’s on a main road with nothing around. Plenty of parking though.
