I stayed for a full week at the Kings Head and everything was perfect. The staff and management bent over backwards to make me feel welcome and to help me out with anything. It was a great experience to stay in such an historic pub and inn in a lovely town. Plumbing was really up to date with nice showers and plenty of hot water. Bed was comfortable. The included breakfast provided many options from cereal and fruit to hot porridge to full English breakfast--nicely presented and gratiously served. Yes, the floors squeak and it can be a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday--as I have read in some reviews. But if that is something that is going to bother you, don't stay here--save the historic experience in an historic building over an historic pub for someone who can appreciate it. Note: even on noisy nights, everything quiets down fairly early.

The staff were friendly and the room was nice. The bed was comfy and the facilities were good. We got chatting with other people staying there and made friends with a Welsh choir which was great.

We didn't realise before we got there that our room was separated from another room by just a door. I guess sometimes families book both rooms which would be handy in that case, but we wanted a romantic break away from our kids, and we could hear people talking in the next room and at one point the other guests kept trying the handle to get in, so that was a bit unsettling. Not the romantic break we had planned.

Very friendly staff. The evening meal was delicious, I had fish and chips and my husband had a mixed grill. Good value for money. Drinks are reasonably priced. Great atmosphere. This is an old pub with very traditional features. Parking is great, and easy to get to. Four poster beds in room 19 were stunning. Clean gleaming bedding and good-quality towels. Good complimentary package of refreshments and bathroom items. The shower is lovely and powerful, with nice hot water.

The bedroom could do with a freshen up such areas missed while cleaning inside of the TV cabinet and bathroom corners. But it wasn't unclean and the bedding was beautiful crisp clean white. Carpets could do with an update, but understand that it's the decor of the room.

Warm welcome, lovely cosy bar which was busy which is always a good sign. Lovely extras available such as warm crackling, pickled onions. Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Bonus was being able to log into our Netflix account on TV. Breakfast choice was asked for upon arrival, all hot and tasty with a lovely waitress/cook.

Creeky floorboards.. It was literally every single floorboard from the bed to the bathroom, going to the toilet overnight and not waking hubby was impossible. Must be thin interior walls, could hear every sound from next door, felt like they were in same room. Could do with a mix of firm and soft pillows.

Our room was a good size and the en-suite was a bath with shower over. It was also at the back of the building so quiet. The staff are very nice and will accomodate you, if they can, for every request. Breakfast had a nice selection available. Dinner was also very nice but has a limited menu so you might not want to eat there every evening. You may also want to reserve a table as the pub is very popular for dinner. There was a good variety of other places to eat within walking distance. It was very central for us being close to Brecon National Park, only an hour or so away from Carmarthan and a little further to the coast. The A40 is a good road as are the other A roads in the area, and the B roads aren't bad either.

They say there is parking but this could be down to luck as people park there to go to the pub, so there is no guarentee you will get a space to park. Parking seems to be at a premium here. They say they have TV and internet but it is very spotty. The TV has poor reception on the antenna so you have to use the players but this is dependent on how well the internet is working. You may not want to stay here if you need to be able to use a laptop for work.

The location was great for me. Staff are helpful and friendly.

There is WiFi but it doesn’t work in the rooms. It seems like they should install WiFi extenders if there is supposed to be WiFi. I even had my own WiFi but it couldn’t get a connection either. Probably because the walls are all stone?? You can go down to the bar and the WiFi works there. The heat is not controlled in the room. It got turned off during the night. Fortunately I stayed warm enough. Also, if you like cold beer from the tap, it is not cold here. Some bars have cold beer in the area but this one does not. The Salt IPA is the best but it is not at this bar. The Bear inn across the street has ice cold Salt IPA. 👍for all who want to know!!

Value for money was excellent, really good breakfast. the only downside with our room was that the extractor fan for the kitchen was by our room and was quite noisy when on. bed was very comfortable. the showerhead needed to be descaled so the water came out in huge blobs rather than a spray. the television signal was not good and kept breaking up. the staff were very helpful ad pleasant. The breakfast was excellent with quality produce. and really tasty

the showerhead was blocked so came out in blobs rather than a spray poor signal on the TV

We had booked breakfast for 8am, we were all waiting outside in the hall and the doors were locked, we had to knock to be let it. Because of this the breakfast was very late even though we had to pre booked it the evening before, the plates came out one at a time while the others had nearly finished theirs while the others were still being cooked, the coffee was cold for all of us. My child was very late for school because of this and so were the other kids who had stayed over. We stay every year and appreciate there has been a change in ownership but the waiting around wasn't very good.

breakfast was excellent excellent evening meal beer selection good very friendly staff great position in centre of llandovery by the market square the people of llandovery were exceptionally helpful and friendly

parking at rear is limited and was full when we arrived- we parked in the main town carpark for £1.70 for 8am-6pm and left the car overnight there during our stay (2minute walk from the hotel). The hotel wifi is very poor upstairs- we were unable to use it despite a wifi extender plugged in, in the next corridor we ran out of coffee in the room first night and it wasn't refreshed during our second day stay.
