Staff were so lovely all of them from the Bar guy that booked me in to girls on bar to reception to breakfast waitress.. just lovely welcoming and chatty. Made me feel at home on my last night stay I was able to have room service which honestly felt like luxury to me as a single mum who runs her own business it was a service I was super grateful for I left a tip on reception when I left for the lovely service I had had..I had a lovely big bed and fresh linen and towels. Great welcome tray and I like the usb sockets next to bed great facility,..

I felt the hotel itself the corridors the doors especially and glass staircase and even the room 16 I was in could have been a bit clearer, there were hand and finger prints all over doors and glass needs a good clean and degrease the shower glass and tiles over bath in my room needed to be cleaned still had soap splashes from previous occupancy and on arrival there were 3 wasps floating in toilet that had not been flushed before my arrival. ..I have standards as I have a cleaning business but it's important to clean to a level that is hygienic

It is cheap. Glorious blonde lady on Reception during the day is so helpful, I just wish she could grab this place by the scruff and make it better.

Property is a great, inexpensive overnight. However can you please have a look at couple of tings! 1. This is the major concern. Breakfast takes 1 hour from order to arrival (stayed 4+ times) 2. Why do I have to queue at a station on the opposite side of the Restaurant from your rooms to get seated for dinner or breakfast? ask the staff, it's an odd system. 3. OWNERS pop across to the Slaters Country Inn. Wheatsheaf Onneley. 4. Please for me, ding that bell on Reception when above mention team members are not present and and experience the look up, look down. Wait 20mins looks.

It’s a lovely cosy place to stay, the staff make you feel welcomed. The breakfast in the morning was very nice so cannot fault the food at all. The room was a good size & very clean in general. The shower was very good, the water flow was excellent.

The only criticism regarding the room was that the lower part of the shower needs cleaning more throughly as the grout is full of soap scum that you can see has been there a long time (room 12). Also which this is no fault of the hotel but other residents need to learn to stop letting their doors slam, it’s very inconsiderate & annoying.

Excellent breakfast and dinner, perfectly cooked and presented, courteous and helpful well-trained restaurant staff. Public areas in the White Lion were supplied with ample heating and were comfortably equipped. Despite the rambling nature of the old Inn, corridors and passage ways are well- lit, heated and sign-posted, it is difficult to get lost.

Reception is at the back of the bar area, not routinely manned and bar staff are always busy, it wasn't possible to get bar staff's assistance quickly. Our room was equipped for a single guest, and it was a little irritating to hunt for help in the bar to get a second towel and room refreshments. Having a pre-booked room quickly checked in advance for appropriate supplies would fix that.

Lovely staff very friendly and easy to speak to they where busy but had time to make you feel welcomed. Food was excellent I had bangers and mash with sticky toffee pudding I even put some coffors in Jeremy Clarkson s pocket as his was the beer on tap Great pint to be said served with a smile . Breakfast was steaming hot and very tasty as well All in all a very comfy stay with a good ambience love the cold play being played in the restaurant Thanks team I'll be back

Very nice pub, restaurant and hotel. We had dinner and the food was really nice. Good ambiance. There was entertainment the night we were there and we had great time and fun!

There was a smell coming from the bathroom when we first got into our room, like a damp and fusty smell. Although the room and the bed were great. Breakfast was really nice and cooked on order. But the coffee was poor and weak and not enough hot water to make a tea. Lack of fruit too on breakfast bar.

We only stayed a night as we were travelling up north. The room was relatively essential but cozy and clean. Very convenient to have the restaurant in the hotel, so we'd easily have dinner (and it was very nice. The burgers are highly recommended!). After dinner we grabbed a drink in the pub which was nice too (appreciated the perk of not having to drive to go back to our hotel, so we'd have wine over dinner and a dinner after). Breakfast was very nice as well, with a variety of options. It's a shame we arrived quite late as it'd have been nice to have dinner in the lovely outdoor area.

Nothing in particular. We chose the dinner + breakfast option and maybe it'd have been clearer was was included for dinner and what not. But nothing that made the stay less pleasant at all. And, again, dinner food was delish, so no real complains

The breakfast menu was excellent, as was my choice.

The male staff member sitting within view did not come to ask for my order for 15 minutes. There was only one other guest couple eating breakfast in the dining room. Absolutely unacceptable. The two ladies collecting the vacuum cleaner were also talking rather loudly but they soon left thankfully! The bath could be hazardous for someone taking a shower, slippery without a mat in the bath or similar.

Grounds were well kept. Great beer garden. Man on reception very friendly and explained everything to us. We had lunch in the bar area. Food was tasty and hot... big portions 😱. Staff were friendly and attentive. Dinner in the restaurant later was really good. My trout was cooked to perfection. Hubby had short rib which he really enjoyed. The staff again were really pleasant and service was great. The room was nicely done out and clean. We would definitely return.

The bathroom was small but adequate.... the seal at the bottom of the shower needed replacing. The mattress was VERY springy on the bed. It could benefit from being changed for a better nights sleep

What did we like? Everything! We stay at the White Lion usually twice a year on our way South from visiting relatives in Blackpool. So the location close to the M6 is convenient. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The food is always top notch, tasty and plentiful. We especially like sitting outside in the beer garden next to the bowls green enjoying a drink in the early evening sunshine. An excellent hotel and pub.
