We found the b+b on a country road. Pulling into the drive we were pleasantly surprised. The house is set in a woodland setting. It has the main house and a separate bungalow. Ronica met us as we got to the steps. She was super friendly and welcoming. We were on the top floor in a room that overlooked the back garden and a wooded area. If you like wildlife, you would love it here. We watched 3 or 4 squirrels running around, a variety of birds, including a Robin, pigeons, crows, as well as the chickens that are Ronicas pets. Roinca also has guinea pigs, a beautiful rottweiler called Agnes, who is the softest and most beautiful rottweiler I have met, and a cat. All are very well behaved and much loved. Breakfast was amazing. As well as a cooked breakfast on offer, you could have a full range of cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt and toast. If you don't want a cooked breakfast every day, Ronica will happily make you porridge, and the porridge is the best I have tasted, salmon, kippers, croissants, pastries, you can ask for anything, and if she can do it, you will have it for breakfast. Our room was spotlessly clean. The bathroom was well equipped and cleaned daily. As we have decaf, Ronica provided both coffee and teabags. Our bed was super comfortable, one of the most comfiest beds I have slept in. Would we stop again? Absolutely!!

The holiday was over too quickly.

This property is set in a beautiful area of woodland that took our breath away from the minute we got into the driveway. We sat outside the house for a little while as Roni was out getting supplies for the morning breakfasts (which were absolutely amazing) but she wasn't out for long. As soon as she got back, she wasted no time in making us feel very welcome and comfortable - showing us to our room, and then introducing us to her 2 lovely dogs. The room was amazing - so well laid out and cosy. Everything we could need for 2 comfortable nights was laid out and easily accessible. Once we were settled, we were invited to have a look around the property gardens; what we saw blew our minds. Chickens roaming free, an albino pheasant - and in what can only be described as the most surreal moment we've ever had when visiting a B&B... a tame squirrel, Called Cyril. Seeing Cyril climbing all over Roni like a kitten was so cute, and so totally unexpected. The shower. There are no words to describe the shower. The pressure, the heat, the space - all of it was so perfect we didn't want to get out once we'd gotten in! The breakfast in the morning was like something you would see in a 5* luxury hotel. So much choice for any and all tastes; from cereal and yoghurt to toast and fruit. All tastes and dietary preferences were available were catered for. When asked what we would like in terms of cooked breakfast items, Roni went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with what we had. Current dietary requirements mean that we can't eat a lot, so when we asked for a simple scrambled eggs with a sausage, that's exactly what we got. It was absolutely delicious! Walking around the local area was so calming and peaceful, so much wildlife and nature to look at meant that there was always something to see, and at no point did we ever feel like we were only a few minutes from Cromer itself.

There was honestly nothing to dislike - the worst part for us was packing all our stuff up to leave again!

This was our second time staying at Thornybank, and as expected was lovely. We love staying in the poppy room, comfortable bed, amazing shower and have what we need to make it an enjoyable getaway. We love the breakfast, Ronnie is very attentive to your dietary requirements and aims to provide what you request. We absolutely love the gardens, the wildlife that visits, and her 2 beautiful dogs. Close to Cromer, and all amenities. Simply cannot fault our stay there.

Absolutely nothing we didn't like. We are hoping to stay again next year.

Perfect host. We are vegan and vegetarian, the host provided vegan milk and butter along with a full vegan breakfast, we very rarely get this. My niece aged 3 was well catered for with toys and books, Veronica was lovely and so welcoming to her and us. The family suite was perfect!!!!! So clean. We especially loved the dogs, my niece and daughter loved the puppy, Veronica let her come in our room and we walked her in the garden, also loved the chickens. Absolutely perfect stay, couldn’t have been any better.

Nothing at all

Ronica was very friendly and her lovely two dogs and cats welcomed me on arrival. The house was lovely in a quiet area plus my room called the poppy room was very nice, the bed was very comfortable and a lovely hot shower was a plus …tea coffee plus biscuits lovely extra lots of books to read plus a choice of DVDs you can watch in your rooms 😊 Breakfast was lovely and good choice plus local butcher sausages. Was lovely to see animal friendly guest house with chickens Guinea pigs and lots of birds to watch while you have breakfast. I will definitely be visiting again.

Nothing it was perfect

We recently spent five days holiday at Thornybank. We absolutely loved it, Ronnie and her army of (animal) friends run such a warm and welcoming guest house. The private and secluded location is within walking distance of Cromer. Ronnie keeps the house spotlessly clean and is an engaging host. Our room was exceptional with a balcony overlooking stunning woodlands and a full glass. floor to ceiling window by the side of a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath and power shower. Breakfast was a feast with everything you could think of. We really loved this most unusual place. Karen and Steve x

Nothing not to like

It was a beautiful property set in an amazing area. The garden was gorgeous and the house so welcoming and homely. The animals were lovely 🥰 so nice to have them around when we’d left ours at home. Aggie and Cybil were so entertaining 🐾🐾🐾 The breakfast was the best breakfast I’ve ever had in a B&B. Roni really was an amazing host nothing was too much trouble, lovely lady we’ll be back ❤️

Nothing only having to leave 😢

The accommodation is tucked away in a country side. The host was very friendly and had good conversations and a nice person in general. The poppy room was spacious with a cosy bed, hot drinks and biscuits provided. The breakfast in the morning was beautiful with lot of choices to choose from. The accommodation has a beautiful garden and with friendly dogs, cat and hens. Overall we enyoyed out stay highly recommended!

Nothing

Room was really spacious and well equipped with everything that you would normally expect to be available, bathroom was large and again had everything that you'd expect. A nice but unfortunately unused aspect was the nice balcony with views into the garden. Breakfast was excellent!

A couple of minor details which I'm sure would have been rectified had we have mentioned anything to Ronica. The plate on which the plant in the bathroom was resting could use a clean. Having some shower gels available would have been nice, as well as the use of a hairdryer (although I think I spotted one just outside the room), within the room.

The location was just outside the town, a 5 minute drive to the town centre, but so quiet and peaceful. Our room was lovely, lots of space, and the little balcony was a bonus, to sit and watch all the wildlife was lovely. Jacuzzi bath was also a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was perfect, a large choice of cerals and a beautiful fresh fruit salad. Big pot of tea for two, lovely!
