This was the second time I have stayed here. Nice reception from the staff. I was a little early and they brought me a drink while I was waiting for the room to be ready. A helpful young woman carried up my bag and showed me how to get into the hotel after hours using the room key card as when the restaurant is shut you access through an outside side door. There’s no Reception, so you are given a number to call after hours should there be any problems. I didn’t have any problems out of hours but I did have a fuse blow in the morning while I was drying my hair due to a faulty socket. It was quickly sorted by a cheerful handyman. The rooms are beautifully and artfully decorated and the bed was nice comfortable. Another cover for the bed would have been nice as I tend to get cold but there weren’t any and no one to ask at night time. The restaurant looks gorgeous and the breakfast is always very nice. The staff are really helpful and pleasant when you ask for anything. The position of the hotel is fantastic. Right on the high street which is perfect.

Unusual quirky designed rooms housed in a 250 year old building with Tudor features. The bed was so comfortable and well dressed with lots of pillows and cushions. The best are the staff at the hotel especially Dennis: so lovely and friendly They also helped us up to our rooms with our luggage and gave us a warm welcome with a free glass of prosecco. The food in the restaurant was also excellent. We chose from an extensive menu for dinner I am vegetarian and there were a few vegetarian options. There was live entertainment to accompany us. The singer sang from a large repertoire of popular music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s. Our breakfast the next morning was also great and well cooked and presented.
Room 6 was cold when I arrived but I was grateful that Denis adjusted the temperature so that it was on full heat

Very comfy bed indeed which made up for tiny and rather cramped bathroom in one or our two double rooms. We didn't pay extra for breakfast but went out. You are provided with a kettle etc. Staff all very nice but this is really not a hotel as such, more a restaurant with rooms.
Our window did not open to any kind of view—perhaps a light well. The glass was frosted. It didn't matter as we were out for most of the day and evening, but worth checking before booking. We had a quiet room, but there was not much sound insulation in the room at the front, though this did have a nicer view. Car parking is very limited and costs £15 a day, I think, which we didn't realise in advance.

Location ideal, right on the high street but set back enough that you aren't too bothered by the passing traffic. Staff were welcoming and friendly, glass of fizz on arrival was a lovely touch. Great value, didn't try the food but the selection looked good. Drinks were great value and nice cocktails. Really good value rooms. Very clean and well kept
Room was on the small side but sometimes that's just the way it is, and we only really wanted a bed for the night. No complaints at all.

Every member of staff we met was so friendly & helpful. You really got the feeling that nothing would be too much trouble. Really great customer service! The room was lovely. It wasn't very big, but the bed was really comfortable and the decor felt high end.
The only slight criticism was the music from downstairs. If you'd planned on spending a quiet night in your room, that wouldn't have been possible until much later when the music stopped around midnight. It didn't bother us because we were out and got back after midnight.

Expensive but classy. Really liked how it was out of the way of the restaurant but still could access from inside. Very clean and tidy. Small room but convenient for our stay. Dinner was very nice. Didn't stay for breakfast as got downstairs and there was no one to serve us. Cleaning lady took our room key to check out and off we went. Don't think she spoke much English to make friendly conversation. Happy with our stay, would recommend for the night but won't be coming back as was just a one off.

The location was brilliant. The hotel was beautiful and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was really tasty. One member of staff was absolutely lovely, she was very friendly and very helpful.
The music in the bar upon arrival was way too loud making it unpleasant to sit in there. Also there was a party in the evening and the music did not stop until 1:40 am, this should stop my midnight. It was a shame that the 10% discount on drinks from the bar and meals in the restaurant was not applicable to the breakfast.

They did a full English breakfast everything was super clean the bed was very comfortable
The only thing that I can really pick on was it wasn't a massive room we pay £164 pound £15 was parking No breakfast so that on top The room had a fridge with alcohol in and chocolates one bottle of same champagne is about £30 in the shop in your room it was priced at 90 pound a small box of about seven sweets like Quality Street with six pound a bottle of water with three pound champagne with definitely over the top obviously this is optional but three times as much as the shop price maybe a little bit excessive I could understand £20 more because I expect they will buy them in in bulk

They rooms are lovely and very stylish, with the added touch of the very large bath in the room which had rituals bathing minitures., the bed was very comfortable and The staff were mostly friendly and helpful.
I thought the room was let down by the fact that the throw that runs across the bottom of your bed had what looked like seaman stains and, the cushions had lipstick marks over them. The other issues we had were the food was quite expensive for what it was. And the booking said we had the rooms until 11am -12pm the next morning, we went down for breakfast around 10am we were rushed and told to remove our bags from the room whilst they prepared our breakfast as they had another booking for that day. When we went back up to our room the cleaner had already let herself in our room and the door was wide open. Also beware if you are disabled we still had to pay full price of £15 for parking from 4pm till 10.30am.

The people, I think, the people who work hard to make possible that everything works perfectly as it was. The Barmans, the waitresses, the manager. Everyone was very helpful, kind, and nice. I had a great stay, I love the room and the place in general. Since I arrived, I was welcome nicely with a lovely glass of bubble 🫧 😊 I couldn't ask for more. Big massive thanks to the wonderful staff at Funky Monk 👏 🙌 x
