My wife and 1 stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in room 202 and it was a great visit from start to finish. We arrived Friday 11th and had a evening meal in the hotel restaurant and the food was exceptional and huge compliments to the chefs, I had the deluxe burger and it was the best burger I've eaten in the last 6 months also my wife was highly satisfied with the cod and chips. The breakfast in the mornings were just as equally as wonderful. The only down side was I tried to order room service but the room telephone didn't connect so I had to go down to the bar and order, but props to the staff for bringing it to the room after I ordered even though I offered to stay and wait but they insisted they'll bring it to my room.

Have wanted to stay at the Pier hotel for ages having visited the area for years but never had the time to book it well as being in the area for more than a day well where do i start this hotel was everything that we hoped it would be great value for money the sea view we had from our room was first class the room itself was a descent size had everything you could want even down to the little things like bottles of water and tissues very comfy bed great pillows and the bathroom was modern and a descent size the staff were all very polite and helpfull the breakfast was very tasty and the bar was brilliant the bar menu had a varied choice and the service was quick as well to sum up this review this hotel is great and we cannot wait to come back to the area and to stay here again i would highly recommend this hotel if you want a stay at a hotel that has everything you want from a hotel

Nothing to dislike

We loved it, we really loved it - EXCEPT our bedroom was so incredibly hot, neither of us slept for most of the night. (We did have the heating down.) When I said this to the receptionist in the morning (she was very nice and helpful otherwise), she just didn't take on board what I was saying and said "good" because she didn't like people to be cold. But I was trying to say I was too hit to sleep - it was so uncomfortable. And actually, you could save an awful lot of money and the planet by turning the thermostat down a few degrees. Sorry! But we loved the restaurant and the position and the staff and the atmosphere . Just too too hot

The Pier Hotel in Gorleston-on-Sea is a local landmark with a long history, having started life as an inn over 120 years ago. We found it to now be a comfortable and welcoming family-run hotel whose staff are all friendly and helpful. It is situated at the mouth of the river Yare right by one end of the huge Gorleston beach, has its own car park and is a two-minute walk to the Pavilion theatre (also over 120 years old) which puts on some good shows. A fairly short walk gets you to Gorleston High Street with its good range of shops and from where buses can get you into Great Yarmouth itself or further afield to places like Lowestoft and Norwich if, like us, you want to give the car a rest. Our room ('superior with sea view') was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean, had a great view of the beach, sea and sky and was replete with lots of nice touches like bottled water, tissues, large dispensers of handwash, shower gel, free Wi-Fi, etc.. The hotel food was excellent and reasonably priced. There was a wide range of choices at breakfast (included in the booking) and evening meals, generous portions of delicious food, perfectly cooked and presented available either in the dining room or in the bar of the pub integral with the hotel. At this time of year the Pier Hotel was a great place to take a few day's relaxing break. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We really can't think of anything significant that could have improved our experience. Even the weather was a bit better than forecast!

The room was made up to a good standard every morning. The bathroom was clean with shower gel and shampoo supplied. We had a couple of meals in the bar/restaurant, both of which were very good. The staff were efficient, friendly and attentive.

The weather was very sunny during our stay so the room got very hot. The window didn't open very far which was understandable given safety concerns but it did make the room a bit uncomfortable at night. A fan in the room may have helped.

We booked the Pier Hotel as a base to explore the Suffolk coast. It is 123 yrs old and has character. Management are upgrading the exterior and replacing windows and we loved the room upgrade to one of the suites. We had a spacious room with panoramic views, powerful shower, good heating as weather was lousy, two tv, complimentary toiletries & water, good housekeeping, good choice of evening meals in the restaurant, a lively bar, delicious choice at breakfast and very helpful and friendly waitresses, namely Emily and Charlie ( girl )

Small thing, the push button toilet flush had an awkward operation, didn't work on a one time use , required several 'pump' attempts

Excellent beach location and the room was spacious and well decorated. Staff are kind and friendly. Food is available more or less all day and is ok for choice, especially if you don't always want a full meal.

Having to go to the bar every time you want a drink etc is a bit tiring for the elderly travelling alone. Maybe waiting staff could show a bit of flexibility.. although they were rushed off their feet at all times. My room telephone lit up unexpectedly during the night, waking me up startled because it lit up the whole room. There is not much to do in the immediate locality and the town of Gorleston is a bit shabby and run down.

This is the hotel that featured in the 2019 film “Yesterday” we never stayed there for that reason but we met others that had gone there for that reason alone. We had room 108 the room was full of art deco furniture and it looked fantastic, it looked out onto the flat roof where the group in the film played to the crowd from. The whole hotel is really lovely.

We had dinner in the main restaurant and I made the mistake of having the dressed crab salad, I say mistake not because the crab wasn’t nice on the contrary it was lovely, no it was the salad this was made up from peas, sweet corn, green beans, lettuce and one baby tomato and potatoes, in my opinion this isn’t a salad. I mentioned it to the waitress when she noticed I hadn’t eaten anything other than the crab and she said it does say what’s included on the menu but I did read it later and it just said salad. The TV picture was nonexistent in the evening apparently the signal can be a problem.

The Breakfast was amazing . Best breakfast grill I’ve had in a long time.They had a large selection of pastries , cereals (all branded cereals too) plenty of fruit and fruit Juices . They had oat milk for my daughter with allergies .We had dinner too and the chef catered for my Daughter’s allergies which was lovely . The meals were very large and definitely get your monies worth. Drink tray in the room with a good variety in the room too. I forgot my hair dryer and looked in the wardrobe and there was a hairdryer ! Friendly and helpful staff . Nothing too much bother . Right on the beach front . Definitely be back again.

The hotel was spotless and well kept. The Food was generous and very good. The Staff were amazing. At tentative, but not over the top. They all seemed busy but we're friendly, polite and nothing was a problem. Drinks were good and well priced, Good location. Generous breakfast and good quality,

We felt the cost of the food was just a little bit over. That said, we wouldn't want to pay less and have a drop in quality of food. We would prefer aircon. There was no air in the room even with the window open. First night was difficult to sleep.
