I liked the location, I was going to play at the Element Games in Stockport and it was very close, within walking distance. The room was large, it had a nice loset with hangers, the bathroom was good and the shower as well, all with normal European taps with combined hot and cold water. I really liked the tea that was provided in the room. The staff was very helpful and friendly and even allowed me to keep my luggage there on the day I checked out. I liked that there was an entrance separate from the bar.

For me the bed was too soft. The drains did not flow down readily just after a while, there was no brush next to the toilet. The steps were steep to climb. The heating worked but only after they turned it on. The window does not open wide but this is a typical American/British way of doing sliding windows. One of the lightbulbs was burned out otherwise the small lights are very cute and there is good light in the room. I did not like that the wifi was free but I had to register for it I much rather have a safe protected wifi with password that is provided to me.

Very friendly, quiet (which was unexpected as it is on a busy road and over a pub), clean, comfortable (see dislikes), generous tea and coffee supplies, great pub vibe going on downstairs and excellent beer choices. Location was perfect for me as it is over a good pub, I have family locally and it is an easy walk for trains to Manchester. Brilliant Thai café two doors away.

I slept very comfortably which surprised me because the mattress felt thin and springy. I sat on it and immediately anticipated problems but somehow it worked? It is a very old building so has some typically serious stairs which could be a problem for some. The 'free wifi' had no internet access.

I wanted somewhere in that area to be local to a two day training course. The place is a lovely old pub. The landlord (I presume) was welcoming and made sure everything was in order. Helped carry my bags. He couldn't have been more helpful. The room was perfect for what I needed. Free WiFi. Ticked the boxes for me. Nice to have a place with character rather than a bland identikit type of place.

A mirror in the room would be handy, I had to have the lead of an electrical hairstyler at full stretch and try to see what I was doing in the small bathroom mirror. That's a minor and I would definitely be happy to stay again.

They don't do food. They do great beer and a very friendly atmosphere. Last time I complained about the poor mattress. I stayed in the same room this time and the mattress was excellent. The super friendly staff helped me with information about the local bus service which reduced my local transport costs by 90%.

It doesn't do food but there are oodles of places to eat locally.

Martin couldn't be more helpful; we are frequent visitors and we get a warm welcome from the locals too. The large front bedroom is absolutely lovely, but if you are bothered by road noise then ask for the small double at the rear.

I have an issue with my hip, so a high quality mattress is important for me. The mattress has a topper on it so it's not bad. I'm just like the princess and the pea ha ha.

I was concerned it might not be very good considering the price and location but it exceeded my expectations. Staff were fabulous and helped me find somewhere to eat. Really happy with it.

Would have been even better if they did food. Not bothered about breakfast but but general food on the night would have been useful. I only had a brief walk to a really good Indian restaurant though. I knits regulations but the bright green light gave me a bad night’s sleep.

The staff and the hotel was great, everyone was really friendly, the room was a nice size and it was in a great location for getting into Manchester.

As other reviewers mentioned the bed was awful, very uncomfortable, the mattress could do with being replaced and then it would be perfect. Would definitely stay here again.

Everything was great. Check in was easy, Met at the bar by two really helpful and friendly staff, taken to our room & shown how to use keys etc. spacious room, clean and tidy, bathroom clean and usual supplies given (shower gel, tea and coffee etc) we were going out for the evening and staff helped us book and organise taxi’s & recomended places to eat & drink. Drink prices really reasonable.

Nothing! The only downside some people may say is that it’s on a busy main road, this doesn’t bother us but may do for those who need silence when sleeping.

Small but well equipped rooms above a really lovely pub, plenty of real ales and very friendly staff and local customers. The guy working at the bar could not have been nicer or more helpful when checking us in and when we returned after an evening out. Well located on the road going south out of Stockport.

The landlord was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the area and very friendly. Unfortunately, the pub does not do food but there are so many options in the area that this is not an issue. Great selection of drinks though and a very cimfortable pub and hotel. Also very dog friendly!
