This place is a little gem! The rooms was cosy, the while building was actually. Walls that are sriped back to reveal the old bricks are my favorite. We ate here and I have to say, it was not your average pub grub with a side of chips! Real homemade, whole ingredient cooking is a rare breed with so many pub chains these days. I see the pull, cheap and filling. However, The Cross Keys is offering food a good deal better quality than that with big portions at a 'pub grub' price. Would happily have paid more for that quality 👌

Nothing, it was a genuinely positive stay!

A great Inn, with super food, great beer and a nice, quirky bedroom with a comfy bed. We were cycle touring and they were super helpful and very relaxed, in giving us a secure place for our bikes. We'd certainly choose to stay here again.

There was a bath with shower and a hand basin in the bedroom. However, a screen, or curtain along the bath would be very useful, as currently it's very difficult to shower without flooding the place.

Very clean room. Fantastic hosts. Gave us a very good welcome. Ample car parking. Charming building, old beams, uneven floors were very authentic. Restaurant/bar downstairs both friendly and food was freshly cooked and of a high standard. Slept well in our small but perfect double with tea and coffee making facilities. Excellent value for money

Maybe road noise but to be honest we had a lovely nights sleep so isn't an issue

Location was great for me and easy parking. Room was everything I needed and the staff are all excellent - courteous, professional and efficient. I would love to stay again as there’s still items on the menu that I need to try. I had to leave before breakfast but the evening meals alone are worth a visit.

Shower was a bit temperamental and there was no “dressing table” height furniture so kettle very low. My partner would have struggled to put her make-up on as the only mirror is above the basin in the bathroom.

Perfect location for walking the river wye, the castle and symonds yat. Slight noise from A40 but with window closed it didn't disturb sleep. Room wasn't huge but only need a bed but was nice with exposed brick. . Food was fantastic stayed 3 nights and all meals were very tasty. Dog was made welcome and staff nice and friendly. Nice cosy feeling in bar with the woodburners lit. Little tip if taking dog and want a quick walk at night. Take a torch, walk out of the pub light and it is very dark. But that did mean the stars were amazing.

My only bug bear was the bathroom. I did mention it to them and they said they would take it on board. Quite a big space with tiny shower and quite difficult to get a good temp. I don't think it would take much to create a nice walk in shower with nice tiles it has the room. But don't let that put you off as it was good value for money and lovely food.

What a beautiful pub. We have just stayed here on our way to Wales and it was amazing. Lovely, warm welcome. Staff were accommodating and went above and beyond. We had an evening meal and it was just exceptional. My husband had the brisket which he said was the best he'd ever had. Breakfast was delicious too, full english...great quality food. We slept in a small double room, it was very comfortable and quiet. Perfect little place. Will definitely return on our next adventure.

Cosy and comfortable room. Slept well. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Friendly staff. Would return for a single night if I was in the area again.

Didn't expect the bath and sink to be in the bedroom with us with a separate toilet area. Also, as there no separate entrance, I needed to walk behind the bar to get to the stairs that accessed the room. Not really an issue if you're in before 10:30 but after this you are provided a key to the front door of the pub and have to make your way through the dark pub to access the stairs.

We arrived when the rugby was on. The locals were friendly and we were welcomed with smiles by the staff. Although it was a busy night we had fantastic service and the food was phenomenal. We loved the vibe of the place. The location was perfect for what we wanted - close to the butterfly zoo was was a pleasant surprise . The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. Shower was easy to work. Check out was simple and breakfast in the morning was quick and delicious.

I went fishing on the river Wye and this was a perfect place to stay. The room was a small double fine for me on my own. Clean, warm and comfortable I will definitely stay here again.

The check in time was 4.30 on my booking but the place doesn’t open until 5pm On website it states no food on Monday evening however they were serving food so it is worth ringing before to check.

Lovely little place to stay. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Room was quaint and quirky. Fantastic atmosphere in the pub/restaurant. And the food, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Best 3 course meal and breakfast we’ve had in a long time. 100% will be back again whenever we are next in that part of the country.
