The place is under new management and clearly they are very passionate about improving the hotel. There is a good bar and pub-grub/pizza restaurant on site. After a long hot day the owner was willing to make my dad some food just minutes before he closed the kitchen. Much appreciated. It's a lovely old building full of period features and a large beer garden. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated with vintage furniture. The bed was comfy and the bathroom facilities small but functional and clean. We had a quiet fridge and with 2 bottles of water provided which were much needed as it was a very hot weekend. The coffee/tea tray included some plant based milk, never seen that before and a nice touch. The owner had opened the windows and put a fan on to help cool the room before we arrived. The curtains would be blackout when closed but we slept with the the curtains and window open because of the heat. Loads of parking. All the staff we met were amazing.
Road noise on Friday night but we slept with the windows opens because it was so hot. It was fine with the windows closed.

Comfortable and peaceful stay in an interesting older building. Welcome was warm and efficient on arrival. Plentiful free parking. We had R4 (Executive Twin/Double), and the firmer 6' Superking bed was very comfortable, room a good size with airy double height ceiling. Tower fan provided for warmer weather. Little road/traffic noise noticed during stay. We were attending a musical event at 'The Mead Hall', just around 7 mins walk away, so was very convenient for this purpose. Guests should also be aware that *no breakfasts are available at the property* (we knew this prior to arrival, so not an issue): we simply drove a few minutes up the road to The Mulberry Cafe at The Radway Bridge Garden Centre - which offers a decent selection of cooked breakfast options.
Nice modern en-suite bathroom, but the hot water appeared to run out before one of our party could shower in the morning. Water pressure also slowed to a frigid trickle. Guessed that plumbing unable to cope with simultaneous guest baths/showers being run? Since we had somewhere to be, we were unable to wait to try later, which was a pity. Just unlucky with timing, we suppose. Tip: Shower early?

A period building with lots of character. A free house with accommodation. The bar staff was friendly and helpful. There was a limited food menu with good home cooking. Room was big and airy. Clean and comfortable. Bathroom clean and modern design. A quiet location for a good nights sleep.
Times for food orders was limited and only served a small continental breakfast. Stored in your room in supplied fridge. This didn’t actually bother us as we were there for leisure.

This is about the 4th time I’ve stayed here and so far 3 different people running the hotel , unfortunately no food on offer but they did allow me to buy fish and chips and eat them inside . The bar is usually friendly obviously popular with the locals . Room was a nice size but quite pricey …. The fish and chip shop down the road was about the worst I’ve ever visited . There was more oil and grease in the wrapped fish than fish itself

It is a lovely building, my room was bright, airy and comfortable. The staff are friendly. The small fridge in the bedroom was useful as there was no food available (which was clearly stated when booking). Some fun quirky features. Location peaceful. Nice biscuits and selection of instant hot drinks.
Some furniture a bit tired and grubby (chair upholstery very stained). Old, single glazed sash window rattled all night!!!

The building was absolutely wonderful. Gothic former house of local rich tile manufacturer with some of the original tiles in the building. Very welcoming staff and great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant area. The weather was perfect and the beer garden was terrific. Lovely quiet location.
The fabric of the building needs some TLC. Window frames paint work is flaking and there is evidence of a leak on the bar ceiling.

Friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms with good facilities. Good location for local town and other locations. Highly recommend.
Bar closed at 8pm rather than 10pm as advertised and no breakfast available, but that was due to an unforeseen and serious illness of a staff member. Bar staff ensured we had what we needed for the evening and breakfast was easily sorted locally. I’m sure things will be back to normal soon for them, and would stay again regardless.

Rooms had lots of character and were nicely furnished, the owner / manager was friendly and welcoming. We liked that there was a bar for refreshments when we arrived on the Saturday. Big carpark at the front and a nice sized garden at the side. It was useful to have a fridge in the room, as well as tea / coffee for hot drinks.
Nothing really - everything was as we hoped for. No breakfast included, but we knew that in advance.

The location was excellent for us. The building looked beautiful. Plenty parking. Staff were fantastic rooms really clean and warm. Plenty facilities. Towels tea coffees bottled water fridge hairdrier soaps shower gel and shampoo. Shower always had hot water.
Our mattress was a bit uncomfortable. . There were no breakfasts atm due to chef being ill. No Sunday dinner for same reason. At night parking area a wee bit dark. Couldn't get bathroom window open.

We were warmly welcomed on arrival and shown our room which was lovely. Both the bedroom and bathroom were selflessly clean with all the amenities that we needed. The bed was so comfortable and we had a very restful night's sleep. The light breakfast we ordered was very good and set us up for the day. A lovely place to stay, we will certainly be booking it again.
