I felt so welcome and comfortable. I love the fact that it is a family run business - you're made to feel very special and your needs are completely met. The hotel has such a lovely atmosphere unlike so many of the faceless, clinical hotels I've stayed in. The breakfast was delicious. Thank you so much for making my stay so wonderful.

Nothing at all.

The room was clean and spacious and there was plenty of choice for breakfast. A glass of orange juice on arrival was brought up to the room as requested as I don't drink tea or coffee. Book in room very informative as I needed to also book a taxi upon leaving, staff were very pleasant too.

I didn't realise there was no bar so went into Hitchin for soft drinks to have in the room. Would have like to be able to have ice available as it was quite a hot day.

The staff were lovely & friendly. They were helpful with directions to our entertainment venue for an event that we were attending, which was the purpose of our visit. Large car park for those travelling by car.

Being picky really, the bed was softer than we prefer. The decor is dated.

Lovely old style hotel, no razz matazz, very pleasant & cosy room with everything we needed. Staff were so helpful, made sure we were happy despite the rather gloomy weather. Breakfast was quite sufficient. We wish them well & will stay there next time we visit our Granddaughter in Hitchin.

Friendly and welcoming with a lovely family feel, clean, comfortable and handy for Groundswell. Stayed in a heatwave, and the fan provided and the power shower were much appreciated. Basic facilities but great value for money.

Whilst a little dated the Firs provided a pleasant stay. It’s easily found and provides free parking behind the property. My room was spotlessly clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The included English breakfast was great and all the staff that I met were friendly. I’d not hesitate staying again if I find myself returning to Hitchin.

Its location was good for what we were in the area for. People were nice and friendly. The decor is quite dated but that gives it a vintage vibe which I liked. Good value for money.

Could have done with some water in the room. Apart from that nothing.

Room was a good size. Tea facilities in room. Parking. Good location with petrol garage next door. Very good staff. It was all very good for price. Everything was very good really.

The only thing I’d mention was the pillows. Slightly harder than my liking.

The room was a bit small but all the required facilities were included. Breakfast was excellent and served by very friendly and efficient staff. The whole place was spotless and we had no complaints about anything. It wasn't The Ritz but it doesn't set out to be. It was exactly what we wanted, a comfortable night and friendly staff with a good breakfast.

Very easy check-in. Clean and quiet room at back of property away from the road. Not huge but perfect for a one-night stay (barely there 12 hours).

The plug in the hand basin did not work which for two contact lenses wearers was a pain!
