I think it's an old coaching house. Great spot in the town centre, off the main square. Staff helpful and friendly, creating a relaxed atmosphere. I had a drink in the bar on my first night. It was warm, and there was a nice patio outside. Breakfast was very good; plenty of choice and grear service when I mentioned I had a train to catch. I'd certainly stay again.

The place is a rather charming, warren of passages, stairs nooks and crannies, so, not a place for those who regularly use a Premier Inn or Travelodge, and like things "just so", but it's my kind of place. A very enjoyable visit.

The room was quite small and well appointed. The single bed was very comfortable and gave me just what I needed for one night visiting friends in Hitchin

I expected to hear noise in my room as it was over an old coaching courtyard which has outside seating and is also a walkway from the public car park into town. I didn't expect to hear quite a lot of sound from a nearby bar coming through the vents or the pipes in the en suite bathroom! None of it went on too late, and I slept well. Just a bit disconcerting when I thought it was going to go on until the early hours

We needed 6 rooms at short notice (due to another hotel letting us down) for our family and friends to stay before our son got married. Colette and Monica were amazing and ensured they could accommodate us. When we arrived we discovered a lovely hotel with friendly, professional staff who made us very welcome. We loved the quirky nature of a 16th century coaching inn and that it's a 2 minute walk to the centre of Hitchin and all that is on offer there.

We stayed during a heatwave, which made for difficulty sleeping, but this wasn't something the hotel could control.

We arrived at the hotel at about 1800 ans there was a wedding in full swing . Although the staff were busy with the wedding they were all very attentive and didn’t take away from the hospitality we received . Lovely meal , the wedding music was a bonus really and we stay up later than anticipated 😂 Special shout out to Charlie , couldn’t do enough to make sure you were happy . He was working when we went to bed and was there when we left in the morning with the exact same customer service as the night before . Young talent that needs to be nurtured . Would definitely stay there again . The hotel is right in the middle of the town walking distance to everywhere Hitchin is a beautiful town with lots of one off shops , buzzing atmosphere on a lovely sunny day . All in all we didn’t want to leave 👍

Great location with free parking to the rear. Rooms clean & well stocked with fresh towels/tea/coffee each day. All the staff were lovely. Great value given its central location

The parking could be difficult as there were vans in there so space was tight-we parked behind & paid the small amount in the morning as it’s free between 6pm & 8am with loads of spaces. We also went next door for breakfast The food/buffet were great but hot water/coffee in a thermos was a negative. Fresh hot tea or coffee would make all the difference

Our room was very comfortable and well furnished. You don't often get 2 comfy chairs!! The staff were friendly and helpful. We were warmly received on arrival The location was good, near to the town centre.

The bathroom needed some ventilation. Using the bath or shower left the floor damp and a bit slippery. Also there wasn't a slip mat for the bath available. Climbing up the stairs with our luggage was a bit of a struggle, a lift would be great!! Admittedly the Sun is an old building and probably has building restrictions. And if we had asked for help with our luggage, no doubt it would have been given.

Perfectly located in the centre, great parking in their own car park dash good food and drinks all that potentially not that reasonably priced for drinks. Bedroom was plenty big enough which means the staff listen to my request I’ll bring two dogs, they also didn’t charge me extra for the dogs, which is incredibly kind.

The decor in the room felt a little tired but then it is worth remembering that the building is a former coaching inn and so is very old and these buildings are difficult to keep looking like a brand-new property

"I had a wonderful stay at the Greene King Inns in the UK. The room, although small, was incredibly cosy and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were exceptional – so friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home.

The hotel is located right in the middle of Hitchin which is a really nice place with some great shops. It is also well placed for anyone wanting to go running or cycling as there is plenty of open space nearby. There are quite a few options for rooms and they all have their own individuality. There are also ground floor rooms which people with disabilities could access. The showers are nice and hot, and the beds are comfortable. The bar is great. It should be full of people but it's really quiet. However, the staff are excellent and the food served is great. There are places close by that charge more and in my opinion are not as good

Hotel was in a central location to the town. It was busy as the Christmas lights were being turned on. The staff work hard to keep it running smoothly they are friendly and polite which makes a huge difference to your stay. We had a meal on our second night and there was an issue with it, but the manager quickly resolved this. Rooms was clean and nicely decorated, beds comfortable. We had a lovely stay in Hitchin, there was so much going on. Thank you Clive,James, Adam and all the other staff that make this a lovely Hotel to stay in
