The location was great. The hotel is in the centre of a pleasant village with with adequate parking. The room was spacious and comfortable and the staff were very helpful.

The restaurant was comfortable and the staff were pleasant and competent, but the menu was limited.

This is a beautiful property in quiet quaint location. I stayed in a double room which was beautiful and clean. Lovely pub downstairs for food and the breakfasts are fantastic. Bonus is the real fire in the morning on a cold day. Staff quite helpful. Tracy who served the breakfast and looked after the place in the morning was wonderful and friendly. There’s a nice outside area which in the summer I imagine is lovely. Really near ash well springs and good roads to other places.

Had a little trouble finding the remote which is needed for the tv and the staff didn’t know where it was saying that it had been missing the last couple of days but I eventually found it. The walls aren’t soundproof but it’s fine late at night and if there is noise doesn’t last for long. Hot water bit hit and miss. Had to call downstairs a couple of times for the heating to be ‘boosted’. All that said for the price and what’s included it’s an incredible find and I had a relaxing stay.

Very comfortable room, food from the bar was excellent and staff friendly

A couple of things were slightly disappointing. Firstly I stayed for 2 nights. After the first night, the room was not made up, which wasn't really an issue, just an unmade bed to return to. The most disappointing thing was that coffee cups that had been used were not changed for clean ones, so had to use dirty coffee cups. Secondly, the breakfast service does not start until 9 am. Yes, there were breakfast snacks left in the room which were also not replenished after the first morning. As breakfast is included in the price, it would have been nice to be able to have it before leaving for work.

Cooked breakfast was good - only available from 9am which was later than I would have liked. There was an alternative of cereal and fruit juice provided in the room but I can't pass on the opportunity for a Full English. Parking was off street behind the pub with spaces available when I arrived at around 8pm. Kettle provided and plenty of drink options - including real milk in the fridge.

Some instructions for the TV would have helped - eventually found my way into iPlayer.

Lovely pub in Ashwell. Beautiful village with good walks from the hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Little fridge with milk, water and cereal bars. Tea/coffee and kettle and lovely little touch complimentary bottles of red wine. Comfy bed, shower/bath, and plenty of storage. Beautiful location and staff were great and very helpful. Highly recommend. *did not stay for breakfast as we were away early but there was cereal provided in the room too.

Pillows were a bit flat, that is all.

Good free car park at the rear of the property, large garden that I envisage to be a really good place to be in the summer months, pool table and darts in bar is a nice touch. The room was warm and comfortable with fridge, tea/ coffee, ironing board, steam iron and hair dryer. Breakfast was great.

The shower worked really well with plenty of hot water and pressure, however the fittings and shower corners were a little tired. The stairs up to the rooms could pose a problem to some lesser able individuals.

Beautiful village location with good parking. Room was pleasant with extra sofa though bathroom could do with a bit of an update. Fridge provided with milk, small bottle of wine and some breakfast snacks for people who don't want the late breakfast. There was a fan in the room which was very welcome as it was a warm night. Good value.

Breakfast not offered till 9.00 and limited choice - only cooked options. No choice of cereal, fruit juice, yogurt, etc.

Needs a bit of updating but that would put the price up significantly.

Staff were incredibly friendly, accommodating and attentive! Great extensive breakfast menu and liked the continental selection. Filter coffee was lovely. Bed was one of the most comfiest have slept in. Really liked the addition of flannels in the room - very fancy! Staff helpful ahead of stay in giving details regarding local taxis to get to our event.

Hot water took a while to come through and then we were told that the booster had to come on and our room would receive heat last. Worked fine in the shower, just not always in sink. Wifi was patchy but did work - same with tv. Can tell lots of effort has gone in to put nice touches. Could do with hook in the bathroom / on door to hang towels. The stairs were quirky!

Stayed here as I was attending a wedding at South Farm in Royston which proved to be about a fifteen minute drive away.Ideally located for the venue.Local taxis quite expensive but a staff member at the property had offered to give a lift to people for a reasonable rate. Staff very welcoming and pleasant.Nothing was too much trouble. I believe the pub had recently been taken over by new management and there are plans for refurbishments. An old building. Situated in the middle of the village in Ashwell.Room very pleasant and clean with an en-suite bathroom,shower over the bath. Breakfasts very good. Cereals, fruit juices and toast and full English.Tea and coffee. I was also able to have an evening meal.Car park at the back of the pub.Lovely fluffy bath towels with a pleasant smell.

My shower wasn’t working very well . I think this may have been something to do with the water pressure which is being rectified.Had a lovely bath however. There was a slightly limited choice of menu for the evening meal as it was the middle of the week but food very good .
