The location of the hotel was superb for our trip to Shuttleworth the following day. The staff were super friendly and welcoming.

The building is a little "tired". It needs a refresh to bring it up to 5☆ recommendations. The hotel has no kitchen or dining room. However a light breakfast is offered for free, to be taken in the reception area. There is a restaurant on the same car park called Coteys. This is where we chose to dine in the evening and breakfast the following morning. That place is superb. We had use of the disabled access room, which was very good with the only issue is it has a shower over bath rather than walk in. We found the bed a little too soft for our liking, but this is just our preference not a complaint Would i stop here again? Yes I would

We had a good breakfast. Options were cereal, bread/toast with choice of jams, marmalade etc., yoghurt, orange or apple juice, tea & coffee. The receptionist on arrival was lovely. She was cheerful and extremely helpful. There is a great restaurant just a few steps away with top quality homecooked food, really nice owner and staff.

The cleaners missed some dog food which had been spilt and which, I assume, the previous occupants had hidden by putting a chair over the mess. Definitely not a criticism of the cleaners as the rest of the room was immaculate. I wasn't particularly happy to find out that we had a room where dogs are allowed. Perhaps Redwings could restrict pets to certain rooms.

For the price, the room was big enough for a couple and third person. But even the double bed was kingsize, so it was big enough for us and our 7 month daughter, although there was plenty of room for a travel cot. The bed was very comfortable. The light switches were convenient. There is a restaurant just across the car park from the hotel and the food was superb. Their chicken curry and rice was comparable with, possibly better than, a lot of actual Indian restaurants. Staff in the hotel were friendly. We particularly loved the free breakfast. It was simple but enough to get us through to lunch without making us full. The pressure in the shower could have been bit higher but it was good enough.

Really difficult to find things not to like. The plug points aren't near the bed, so recommend taking a multiple point adapter. Our room was the on the first floor and at the front of the hotel, so not much in the way of privacy - we had to keep the curtains closed; ok in winter, not so great in summer. The location was easy to find but accessibility was a bit of annoyance after a long drive. It was on a major dual carriageway, so if you miss the entrance, you have to carry on all the way to the next roundabout then come back on the other side, go past until another roundabout and then come back.

Brilliant location to get to hitchin for meeting and on the A1 so easy to get to. The staff were very helpful , welcoming and to note the cleaner was very nice and helped us out when struggling with key, the bed was very comfortable along with a bath not a s common in hotels now, the sofa is nice especially when we covered up for our dog to sleep :) the free morning breakfast simple but a nice way to start the day with cereal, drink yoghurt and toast. cotleys restaurant is next to it and we had a nice evening meal there. Overall a nice relaxing stay and definitely will use again even try other redwings hotels as a budget trip.

Although very dog friendly and welcoming to her feel that this is a huge benefit of this hotel and could be offered free ( although the staff on reception did discount this kindly) £15 per night if staying a week is a lot added :) and I feel this hotel could be made perfect for dog with a field behind becoming a dog field hired if fenced :) also I'd recommend linking with cotleys and offer discounted food there or add the breakfast option there to a price :) even half board being an option with them providing hotel

This was a last minute booking due to needing to travel to London at short notice. The Lodge is accessed directly from the A1 southbound, so it is very easy to locate and access the level and well lit car park Checking in at10pm wass supper easy as we had pre paid. All staff were super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Very clean and tidy, bed linen and towels lovely and white. Continental breakfast was very easy and self service, lots of choices for cereal and drinks. We prefer a soft bed, and the king size was very comfortable. The sofa bed for kids was fine.

When we pulled out the sofa bed for our children, the quilted mattress protector was very dirty it had loose debris of fluff, dark brown, or black stuff that looked like coffee granuals. The rest of the room.was clean and warm, bathroom.was ok, looks well lived in, the wc pan has a crack down through which could potentially break and inflict terrible injuries on someone if it happens when they go to sit on the toilet.

The booking in system with confirmation form to sign. The location was excellent as a halfway point stop over from Doncaster South Yorkshire to Crystal Palace South London. Perfect next to A1 for ongoing journey and a rear room where didn't hear any A1 traffic noise - which was a pleasant surprise! Lovely hot shower. Be able to take buffet breakfast back to room.

It is nice to be able to have a complimentary buffet breakfast but the space was too small (for seating and collecting food and drinks) when a lot of guests decided to have breakfast at the same time - hence why I took the food back to the room.

My dude of bed at the top was collapsing and at 11pm someone tried to push there toddler through our bedroom window and opened our curtains. This hotel needs updating as a business user 3 sockets only 1 for kettle 1 for tv and 1 for charging 2 iPads 2 phones and a credit card machine is not enough it needs more usb ports Travelodge have 2 usb each side of the bed the shower nozzle was spraying all over from the top

Ideal location very friendly staff day and night cosy and comfortable if a little tired but does not detract from the cosy homely relaxed feel of the place breakfast basic but enough to enjoy the start of your day will definitely use your services again when visiting friends and family local was also very pet friendly our little travel cat enjoyed the view from the window watching the wildlife

Nothing to not like really could just do with a face lift would say our travel cat would have enjoyed the room better had the double glassing not have broken down leaving a mist on the inside of the sealed units for a better view of the birds in the shrub all in all though relaxing and comfortable

We stayed here 2 years ago and thought it was pretty good for the money. When we were back in the area, it popped up on Booking again. I think it's actually improved since our last stay. There were a few little things last time, but this time they seem to have addressed all the issues. The room was spotless, the bed really comfortable. Great TV, free WiFi. Overall, I couldn't fault the stay.

There's nothing really that I didn't like. Just be aware, the breakfast they include is a cold breakfast. Cereals, toast, juices, tea and coffee etc. It's a great basic set up, and goes beyond what others offer for free. Also, if you prefer a cooked breakfast there is another restaurant on site.

Buffet breakfast was available in reception from 6am. Our children decided to wake up early as they were really excited, so it was very handy to have a nice early (continental style) breakfast available with a good selection. Well placed location for the A1 but set slightly back which kept the traffic noise down. Beds were soft and comfy. We were expecting my children to share a sofa bed so it was a nice surprise when they each had their own bed. Plenty of parking.
