The Selkirk is our go to when in Scotland. Fabulous rooms, absolutely spotless, phenomenal Staff, (so warm, welcoming and absolutely nothing it too much trouble). The food is outstanding; breakfast is a glorious affair and the dining menu would not be out of place in Michelin Starred restaurant. Their fish pie is a taste sensation. The location is sublime, 3 mi utes walk takes one into picturesque Kirkcudbright itself. If you have the opportunity of being in the locale, stay at the Selkirk. Impossible to be anything but charmed!

Absolutely nothing!

The room was lovely and quiet, which was perfect for our dog as he did not feel the need to bark at strange noises! He slept well all night and so did we. The bed was comfortable and there was a supply of tea and coffee, including decaf, which is a nice touch. Well-equipped bathroom with toiletries and plenty of towels. The breakfast was great, and my gluten-free needs were anticipated and catered for. We had dinner at the hotel one night and the food was really good, again with gluten-free options. A special mention for Fiona, who served us so attentively and happily during our evening meal.

Perhaps the room was a little small. The reading lights beside the bed did not work. A few more teabags would have been nice. The pillows were quite floppy (we prefer a firm pillow).

The breakfast choices were great and the food and service were excellent Everything I had from the dinner menu (over 3 nights) was delicious and the service excellent. All of the staff were welcoming, helpful, attentive and good to talk to. The room was comfortable and quiet. The town location was ideal for enjoying the best of Kirkcudbright

There wasn't anything that I didn't like. I will definitely stay there again when I'm coming to the area.

Lovely warm friendly hotel. It is situated in the centre of the town so easy walking.The staff were happy in their work and made us feel very welcome. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed,inclding a surprise lounge area. Breakfast had good choice and well cooked and we ate at the hotel in the evening and had some delicious meals.We would recommend and hope to return soon.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Meals were excellent. Dinner menu was extensive and my choice of venison was best I've ever tasted. Beautifully cooked and presented with a variety of vegetables, notably pureed parsnips, a confit of duchesse potatoes, a black berry jus, red cabbage - absolutely delicious. Breakfast was also exceptionally good with cereals, fresh fruit, muesli, wonderful coffee and main courses - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for me, while my wife had the full English breakfast and enjoyed every morsel. Service and chef are to be commended for first class work! Our bed was very comfortable so much so that we are actively seeking to obtain the same pillows for our own home.

The room we had was clean and well furnished, although it was a little bit tight for us and the dog. We had breakfast x2 and Dinner 1 night. All the food choices at breakfast and dinner were very good, fresh and tasty! The hotel staff were great, welcoming and helpful.

Just a little bit more room in the bedroom, it felt a little bit cramped with 2 adults and a dog. Parking was a little bit awkward, luckily we were able to park on the street on both days we were there.

The food was of excellent quality with a wide variety of choices.The dining room looked into the garden and like the rest of the hotel was stylishly decorated.Our room had a wide and comfortable bed and the bathroom was clean and bright.Staff all friendly and helpful A good private car park as well.

Steep stairs to upper floors quite difficult for my wife who uses a walking stick.

We were In Kirkcudbright to "find" my husband's ancestors; we were successful!! The hotel was exactly what we needed....within walking distance of the entire town and the cemetery(!!!) And it was exactly what we like...not a big chain hotel..it was clean, safe and within walking distance of everything. We had to take a taxi from Dumfries(abouth$45) as we arrived there from Glascow by train. We booked the taxi well in advance from the USA ; upon arrival call to double check return reservation The rooms were smaller but had all we needed as we are out and about most of the day!!Breakfast was included in its hotel dining room. They also served dinners at your own expense and they seemed to bring in a lot of people who like a bit "fancier" dinner selections. There is a lovely courtyard you can sit in and I believe they serve alcoholic drinks/soft drinks all day. The town has an "artsy" flavor to it nowadays and was having an art festival(July). The people at the desk were very friendly and helpful. Take note: there is no elevator so you lug your luggage up the stairs. As I said quaint over "chain" hotel! I heard them on the phone having to decline requests for reservations so I think they operate on a full booking schedule; to be safe, I would make reservations ahead of time.

Breakfast was lovely, and there was a great choice on the breakfast menu, full Scottish , kippers and eggs we could choice what we wanted, Staff were very very friendly, The room was spacious and very clean, We had a lovely evening meal, and again a lovely menu, and also the days specials to choice from. But what a Really loved was the kindness of the staff, and the infos every morning on the menu... ie: Tide Times and a daily walk route, brilliant idea , I have been to many hotels but this little details was fantasic

The only very little of feedback which I would like to give to the selkrik arms apart from keep up the great work is, I think you may have a probelm with the plumbing, as we heard a loud noise in the morning and the evenings, we think it might have been the plumbing /Shower -WC coming from the room above, but this is not a complitiant just my point of view and I know the lovely staff at Selkrik Arms will look at this.. ,

Our accommodation was upgraded to a Suite what was just prefect. Warm , comfortable and quiet. The food was exceptional and great value for money, and the staff could not have been more welcoming or pleasant. We have recommended both the Town and this hotel in particular to our large family. Thank you.
