Good location, room very quite and large. Everything you needed for an overnight stay was provided. Eat locally in the evening quite a few lunchtime choices but ,more limited in the evening. Early morning start for me so had to leave before the breakfast options were available (pretty typical for my stay at hotels). Heating wasn't on but we were given a fan heater, plugged in and switched on. After a quick walk round the town room was very comfortable and the central heating came on later in the day. Worked perfect for us and a very practical way to keeping overall rooms prices down at this off season time of the time. For me probably prefer this to an overheated room.

Nothing really, bit dusty in a few areas but at this time of year the rooms will probably be underused and overall everything fine. Everything was at a comfort level I would expect for this style of hotel.

Always enjoy a stay at the Bruce Hotel,the staff always met whatever needs you need,as the restaurant is closed they'll provide you with whatever you need if you get a takeaway.. Breakfast is amazing..I was pleasantly surprised as they have done a lot of work in the hotel since I was there last year in regards to redecorating the rooms and also the the car park area..😃

The guy at reception was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and the portions were generous. The room was spacious and clean.

The hotel needs a little sprucing up - the carpets looked a little worn in places and the bathtub was stained from minerals in the water coming out of the taps (so not dirty at all, just old).

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was tasty and efficiently cooked and served. I liked the view of the hills from my quiet room. Although the restaurant is not open for dinner, I was able to eat at another hotel, just down the road. The Bruce was very convenient for the festival I was attending in Wigtown and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

It would have been beneficial to have had a lift to the top floor but I was kindly offered assistance with my luggage by one of the staff. Unfortunately the WiFi was not very reliable, perhaps because of a recent storm.

This felt like a very traditional Scottish Hotel. The room bedroom was clean and comfortable. The person , who seemed to be doing everything, was friendly and helpful. Breakfast seemed cooked to order so was fresh and hot.

Might have been nice to be able to sit and have a drink but there were plenty of other pubs and hotels about for that.

The breakfast choices were great and everything tasty. Served quickly in a friendly, relaxed environment . Got a good nights sleep and had a lovely view of hills.

Everything worked perfectly for us, perfect for our visit to Wigtown Book Festival. Owner/Manager was friendly and pleasant. No complaints at all.

was greeted on arrival and all my questions answered. Recomendations for dinner were given as the kitchen was lacking in staff. Breakfast was very good, despite the staffing issues and didnt take long. The room was large and comfortable with everything we needed.

Our room was spacious and had lovely views; the bed was comfortable; the breakfast was excellent and efficient with lots of choices; the receptionist was helpful; and parking wasn't a problem despite the hotel being on a main road.

My only challenge was when trying to obtain shower water which wasn't too hot or too cold, but I am reasonably sure that it was my lack of ability rather than the fault of the system.

Nice, old-fashioned small hotel. Welcoming, quiet and comfortable. Spacious twin room, large bathroom with powerful shower and full-sized bath. Fast WiFi. Great porridge!

A bit frayed around the edges so it may not suit those looking for sleek modern design and all the mod cons but welcoming, quiet and comfortable with friendly staff. I would very happily stay again.

Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely view over the fields. Great breakfast and secure partking. Very good value for money

They were between chefs so there was no evening food service but there was plenty of places in the town and the staff assisted us with that so it's not a negative.
