Douglas House is a lovely B&B run by the equally lovely Kate and her sidekick Bart (a most gorgeous pussycat!). Our room was very clean, large, nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed and two cosy chairs. The en-suite was a good size with a great shower and nice toiletries. Kate leaves a fine selection of drinks in the room including tea, coffee, fruit teas, herbal teas and hot chocolate plus caramel wafers. The breakfast Kate provides is top notch using local ingredients and one of the best we have had anywhere. It would be impossible to rate our stay at Douglas House as anything less than 10/10 and we highly recommend.

Nothing not to like!

We booked at very short notice, just needed to get away for a couple of days, and we had no requirements beyond a comfortable room and breakfast. This exceeded our expectations in every way. Our host was very friendly and helpful, even when we managed to mislay the keys to the room, we found them again but that was embarrassing. Altogether highly recommended.

We had no problems whatsoever. There is nothing that we would change.

We have stayed in many places and this was way up there at the top. Kate the owner is a lovely welcoming lady, her BB is immaculately clean in every area and she must be proud with her achievements. Beautifully decorated throughout and really tasty and well cooked breakfast with a choice. Easy access to town and some really good eateries. Thankyou Kate, we will be back

Kate, the owner, was both friendly and helpful. She was very welcoming from the moment I arrived until I departed. The breakfast she provided each morning was both tasty and filling. The whole property was immaculately clean, tidy and very well presented. The tea and coffee provided in the bedroom was very good; the en suite shower room was extremely well provided with toiletries and towels.

Nothing! The whole place exceeded my expectations.

More like staying at a friends' place than a B&B. Lots of nice touches, tissues, body lotion etc. etc. Kate is an excellent host and I felt very welcome. There is an excellent Scottish inspired breakfast menu, I finally opted for smoked haddock and haggis, both delicious. Bart, the playful young cat, was entertaining and made the place seem even more homely! Would definitely stay again if in Castle Douglas!

Warm welcome from Kate - 3 night stay - room at the back overlooking the garden - comfy large bed - smallish TV - adequate shower - on-street car parking - no problem getting spaces - short walk to the centre and restaurants - Nikko's and Market Inn Hotel - our faves - great breakfasts - lots of choice - local producers - eggs poached to perfection - all in all a very enjoyable stay and we would have no hesitation re-booking as it ticked all our boxes

The weather

The owner host was fantastic, friendly and has a wonderful place. Each of the four rooms in the home had their own modern bathroom. Three rooms had large beds, and one had a single bed. We had a room on the first floor which was the largest of the four rooms.

The location was easy to find and parking was simple and close. The only downside was the house was located on a corner with no yard. There was no exceptional view from the room. Just street and other homes

We arrived early at Douglas House but that was not a problem, our host Kate was very welcoming and friendly and did not mind us being early. Our room was very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was very good. The location was ideal for visiting relatives in the town. The only downside was the lack of private parking. Would definitely recommend Douglas House to friends and family and would love to come and stay again.

Would have been five stars if there had been safe secure parking.

The breakfast was specific to our requirements. The location was perfect for us to visit the castles and places we were hoping to visit.

Both rooms together would have been preferable but the rooms were superb and especially room 1 which was huge with an amazing bathroom

The single room was small but excellently laid out. Great shower and toilet. Breakfast was delicious. Kate is a lovely person, welcoming, friendly.

It was a bit of a tight squeeze to get from the bed to the bsthroom.
