Grand old place. Accommodated us and our dogs at dinner and breakfast by putting us in a separate room. Beds were comfy and place was clean. Didn't get to use other facilities as we arrived fairly late and left early but pool looked nice. Dinner was fabulous!

Being separated from other diners meant no atmosphere and we had to carry cereal, juice etc from main dining room through reception to the side lounge in shifts to stay with dogs. We could have left them in our room or car though, I suppose.

I liked the facilities, the location, efficient check in.

A staff member on reception wouldn’t call me a taxi. For me this is a basic service that hotel reception staff should provide. Also the bar was closed way too early on a Friday night, closed before midnight.

Amazing value for money. The pool, sauna & jacuzzi are great. Yes, perhaps could do with a little updating, and maybe a little cold - but, for the people that have moaned in previous comments…..!!! Honestly, the world seems to just be full of Karen’s these days. We had an amazing time, the games room is a great touch and all the staff were friendly. I don’t think you could find any better in the UK when you consider the value for money!

Beautiful old building, which is being upgraded I have been told by locals, which is in the heart of Stranraer. Our room was freshly decorated, bed comfortable and bathroom was great.

We couldn’t get WiFi to work in our room, even though it stated we were connected to the hotel WiFi. Also the room lacked artwork, or photographs on the walls, which would have made a difference, even one piece would lift the decor. Also the night porter is available for refreshments after the bar closes, which is a plus especially if you return to the hotel late, and something that is missing from so many hotels in the present climate.

Staff, food, accommodation were super. Nothing was an issue and staff were polite and courteous. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and good views of the loch. Location Was excellent for our needs ( visiting and touring)con fident with the motorbike parking we had. 2 double rooms, -the pricing was excellent. Swimming pool a good size and jacuzzi was very pleasant after a long biking journey

Sadly the NW castle has probably had its hayday! It's a bit' tired'- tatty carpet and furniture in places amongst stunning period features. It doesn't appear to have had too much investment in it for a while just some new paint. The leisure suite is on the edge of dangerous, loose and cracked tiles, showers needing an overhaul. Everything appeared grubby.

Friendly check in staff, our rooms were ready on arrival, even though we arrived early, and I was pleasantly surprised to have been allocated a sea view suite. I've stayed at the North West Castle several times and never had any issues. I enjoyed the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi as on my previous stays. Breakfast choice was extensive and freshly cooked, unlike some tepid buffets. Absolutely nothing negative to say about our stay and I look forward to returning in the near future.

The hotel location was primarily why we picked it as we were travelling on the Belfast ferry the following day and their was access to many EV charge points nearby. The room was spacious and provided everything we needed for an overnight stop, The food was very good with breakfast in particular being the best we had on our holiday. The feel of the hotel was very traditional which we appreciated but others may see as stuffy.

One of the on-site EV charging points was blocked by a contractor's petrol car which meant we had to charge off site which was not quite as convenient as being able to leave the car to charge while we went off to do other things.

Ten minutes drive from ferries to Northern Ireland. Beautiful, large comfortable bed, chairs etc in room and with a spotless bathroom. Food was delicious and expertly presented. Service was efficient, helpful and friendly. Restaurant and bar are lovely. We couldn't ask for a better place!

A small improvement...Portion size of cooked breakfast could be improved. One small slice of bacon and one small sausage is a bit mean especially if you are allergic to eggs! However there is also a tasty tomato, a slice of black pudding, a slice of haggis and a potato scone. All good quality but no replacements given if you are allergic or don’t like something.

It's a traditional hotel that welcomes dogs. We love that there is a separate dining room where dogs are welcome. Great to be able to have a sauna and swim too. Spacious rooms. We usually stay here when taking the Cairnryan ferry. The food is good value, especially in the D, B & B option. There is a delightful Alpine bar with curling rink, really unusual and atmospheric, and a nice place to take a drink before dinner. Good parking. Overall I recommend this hotel.

The food is good value, especially in the D, B & B option, but is a bit basic/odd/dated (not sure what was in my creamy garlic mushrooms but the 'sauce' was a thick paste like it was made with mashed potatoes). Lovely old-fashioned characterful main dining room - again, food options let it down a bit - no cooked veggie or vegan breakfast options at all, or hashbrowns or tattle scones. Not looking to have fancier food, just needs modernising or more kitchen skills/experience.

I was.on the first floor near the lift. I had the option of a plug in heater if the central heating was not on to be warm and dry my clothes. I loved their spa, swimming pool and jacuzzi . I had a lovely time in the local pubs. Stranraer is a great town. The hotel is so near the Cairnryan/ Belfast ferry It would be the ideal place to run Scottish and Nthern Ireland coach touring holidays.

A better train service to Stranraer would would make the journey far easier if it didn't have to go through Edinburgh and Glasgow from Newcastle. I don't know what the service is like from Carlisle. I must find out.
