Situation very good, walking distance to centre town, and Oyster Festival which we were visiting. Food excellent, staff very friendly.

Parking not easy as very busy hotel for public events, birthdays etc. Staff did try and suggest times that be quieter to get parked, but that doesn't always work. But did manage to find street parking near by. Our room was lovely, but was off main corridor to reception, and window directly faced people arriving so you felt people could look in and some did! Privacy an issue, as didn't feel should have to close curtains all time.

Refurbished room was up to the standards shown on pictures. Breakfast/ dinner was exquisite could not fault it. Best cream egg cheesecake ever homemade. Would definately stay again because of the above, and all staff were really welcoming including the owner Hammy.

Parking was a tight issue as only 4 spaces out front. Hence car now has a dent from another car. This led to parking up the rear of the property. Mentioned to staff member about this and they were shocked that this occurred. Shower in bedroom was very hot for a minute or 2 and then went freezing cold mentioned to staff when leaving. The shower gel left for use was not nice smelling perhaps a range of shower gels would be better. Hot water at sink had to be ran for a few minutes before any heat appeared.

Room was comfortable, spacious and we were able to open the windows and get some fresh air. The bathroom was good and the bed was comfortable. We were made to feel welcome and breakfast the following morning was good and served promptly. Very comfortable and reasonably priced place to stay before catching the ferry to Belfast.

A lot of light came through the windows at night and the road is quite busy with lorries heading for the ferry port further up the coast. The duvet on the bed was, as is almost always the case, too heavy for a summer stay.

Thought this might be busy & impersonal compared with a guest house, but it was very relaxed & the staff were lovely & chatty. One minor issue we had with the room was quickly & courteously resolved. Great to have full menus in our room so that we could choose meals in advance without feeling rushed. Food was good/varied & room was spacious, with an extra large bed & uncramped bathroom. Lovely view of the bay from dining room & plenty of parking space.

Aspects of the room weren't 100% - mattress a bit saggy, plugs (electric & basin) needed updating. Our room stayed very warm even after turning radiator off, which might have been a problem in summer. But nothing that would put us off staying here again.

On arrival, over 3 hours early as we were visiting for a festival, we were offered our room. I didn't get the young lady's name but she was so friendly and so helpful. She booked us in for dinner that night which was delicious. The room was amazing. A view straight down the loch and although it faced a busy road was almost silent. The bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast next morning was fresh, piping hot and very good. Cannot fault this hotel.

Room was comfortable, had everything you would need, T&C, biscuits, hair dryer, comfy bed and pillows, spare blankets etc. TV has limited channels, no sky or cable, but didn't impact our 1 night stay. Menu in Bar / Restaurant was very good, more for my wife who can be fussy, and excellent value for money and food quality again excellent. Nice fresh cooked breakfast in the morning with some continental options. We were planning to venture out and see Stranraer but weather didn't allow. Every member of the team we spoke with was really friendly and helpful, couldn't fault them at all. Would definitely stay again but book a front facing room with great views over the bay.

Some noise from kitchen was a bit frustrating. I think we were directly above it facing out to the back of the hotel.

Stayed in large detached accommodation called Windy Ridge close to the hotel. Large room with good quality bed and pillows, spacious bathroom/wet room, daily room service with biscuit packets and tea/coffee replenished, quiet throughout my 6 day stay. Breakfast in the main hotel was consistently excellent, porridge among the best I have tasted, range of cooked breakfast options with friendly waitress service in a very relaxing environment with sea view.

All good, only the slight inconvenience of using a cup to fill the kettle with water from the bathroom tap as it didn’t fit underneath, but preferred large to small kettle.

I thought the food excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely location overlooking the bay and a really bright and cheerful dining area. I was cycling and the hotel offered up covered space at the rear so that the bike could be accommodated overnight.

I was in a room located above the kitchen or similar area so it was a bit too hot. It was a nice size room with en-suite and did have an openable window that compensated for the slight over heating.

The room was very comfortable and spacious, We had two evening meals in the restaurant, both of which were excellent quality, tasty & reasonably priced. The breakfasts were great - locally sourced sausage, black pudding and beautiful eggs, cooked to perfection. Our waitress was more than happy to top up tea and toast and get us extra supplies of butter, marmalade etc as required. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Everything was perfect. My Mother has mobility issues so we requested a downstairs bedroom which we were allocated. I was afraid it might be noisy but it wasnt at all. The hotel also provided my mother with a mobility stool for the shower which was great.

We booked in for B&B it was a lovely breakfast cooked to perfection nothing was a problem to the breakfast staff. We met family at night for a meal which was outstanding the food was lovely and the service was excellent the portions was too much could not eat it all not for the want of trying would definitely go back again.

There was nothing not to like about the hotel everything was good
