Comfortable room and beds. Water pressure low in shower, but this may have been due tonthe volume of visitors in Stranraer on these dates. Room contains a fan which was a welcome and necessary addition as the weather hot! Staff super friendly and on hand to offer recommendations for breakfast. Plenty of towels if needed and overall a very enjoyable stay.

One of the rooms a little smaller particularly the shower was small in comparison to other room, but as we travelled as a family we just used the other rooms shower when needed. But very little to complain about would stay again.

The location was excellent

Stairs to room roughly 46 me and my husband are both disabled myself i am partially sighted, my husband has heart problems,he also kept getting called a lady which annoyed him ,the shower had no pressure which we did report to janet who then called myself and my husband ladies which annoyed my husband,he is slight of build due to him having cancer as a boy we stayed in room 5 it would've been better if they had a porter or someone to offer to carry your bags up all the stairs it was a struggle for myself and my husband but all in the staff were pleasant and the hotel was lovely

The Royal Hotel in Stranraer provided an excellent stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff were exceptional, consistently going above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Stranraer. Every staff member I encountered, from check-in to the cleaning staff, was delightful and eager to assist. Thank you to the team! I will definitely recommend this hotel to my colleagues. I took advantage of the convenient location to walk for dinner and enjoy several drinks, which was great. The service was top-notch as always. While the room and bed were very comfortable, I must mention that the shower could benefit from improved water pressure, possibly with a power pump. Additionally, the hotel allowed me to securely store my motorcycle in their private park ally area, which provided peace of mind and was one of the main reasons for choosing this hotel.

Climbing 3 flights of stairs with my bags and in full motorcycle body armour, at 68 years old not the best for us old folk, and the the shower could be improved by installing a power or pump unit to improve the water pressure, had to run around to get wet. Also, remember you are staying in a hotel with a local bar, not being a pub person the locals did my head in but you get that in every pup, your choice, but keep it in mind.

when we arrived the manager said the room was on the top floor which meant climbing 4 flights of stairs with no lift and he said he didnt want us to use it because we are both in our eighties and use walking sticks he phoned round other hotels and managed to get us a room in another hotel for we were really grateful they also cancelled the booking fee I was sorry we couldnt stay at the Royal hotel bcause the location was perfect in the town centre Thankyou again for all your help

Great location. Lovely room. Very nicely decorated and had everything that you needed, hairdryer and ironing facilities. We had a nice view of the sea. Everywhere was super clean. All staff were very friendly and the meal we had in the restaurant was good value and very tasty. Well priced drinks in the bar also. Will 100% stay here again.

Water pressure in the bathroom. The shower was very underwhelming which probably can't be helped as the rooms were at the top of the building.

A hidden gem. The rooms are modern, well presented and equipped. The star element however is the hotel restaurant which offered a varied menu and exceptional quality of produce and cookery. Add to that friendly and professional staff and I was well pleased with my short stay.

I’m still trying to figure out how to put the bedside lights on and it’s street parking, rather than a designated parking area. Neither of which are major issues tbh.

Stayed here for one night before catching early ferry next morning. It was a great stay, not at all what I expected, I thought it was very inexpensive so wasn't expecting much. Hotel, food, cleanliness and service from all the staff was exceptional. Only downside was very small shower in en-suite bathroom but adequate for one night. Will definitely return and highly recommend.

The ensuite bathroom was on the small side.

A perfect overnight stay before catching the ferry. Excellent value. The owners, Janet and Derek, were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, as were all the staff. The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Dinner was one of the nicest meals we've eaten out for a while with great veggie options.

There was nothing we didn't like. There's no breakfast, so on our next trip we'll bring something to keep us going.

Warm welcome on arrival. Central location ,very clean and comfortable .

Hotel staff unapproachable in the evening. After having our evening of music celebrations and returned back to unwind within our hotel room . The bar had closed one hour before stated time and closed there till . We were shamefully refused some bottled water . Offering to settle the payment in the morning as the hotel held our card details. We were offered tap water instead.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Nice friendly bar with a good selection of drinks. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the proprietor who shared his local knowledge and recommended the best restaurants. Great location and handy for all amenities. We look forward to returning to The Royal Hotel.

The Hotel was not serving food during our visit although I understand that they had plans to do so. This was not a problem as there are many eating places nearby.
